Hello, everyone, this is Joster, and this deck is what I used not only to get to legend, but to get to #4 legend.
This paladin deck is great in the current meta, when rogues are slim and aggro decks are common. This deck kills in the hunter and mech mage match-ups, and has the ability to stretch into the late game against warriors and druids. The only bad match-up for this deck is rogue, and I find that the best way to win that match-up is to get a strong start, and not over-extend into the blade flurries and fan of knives. The deck currently has about an 80% win rate for me, taking into account the rogue match-ups which are the majority of my losses. In the current meta, this deck dominates, but if the meta shifts to favor the oil rogue, I would not recommend playing this deck extensively.
Solid deck. Why only one equality though?
Why more?
I made a few modifications to help in the meta I am currently facing:
-1 Sludge Belcher, +1 Antique Healbot
-1 Kel Thuzad, +1 Loatheb(I just found him to be a dead card far too often and a very unreliable win condition)
+1 Zombie Chow -1 Quartermaster- I rarely get full value from QMs because people instantly attack them and having the 1 QM for a combo has gotten me necessary lethal a lot.
With the changes listed above I had an amazing winstreak that carried me from 16 to 6 in a few hours. Currently wondering if I need any other adjustments to reach legend with the deck. One consideration has been subbing in a pyromancer or a second equality for the combos off of knife jugglers/musters, but that would lead me to want to put back in the second quartermaster as well. Sometimes, don't you wish you could squeeze in just a few more than 30 cards?! :)
Anti-Meta? It looks like every other Paladin deck in there except it has a Kel'Thuzad.
Lol this isn't a new deck...
No Kezan mystic?
Just created a profile to post for this build.. running similar build currently. Put in a Wild Pyro for the Equality play for a 4 mana Twisting Nether. Went from 20-15 on a Win Streak and haven't lost yet. :)
I like this deck for higher ranks, but it seems a little too greedy for lower ranks where aggro is very strong. Tirion, Black Knight, Sylvannas, KT, Boom AND Harrison and this deck is considered anti-aggro? Lol, might as well throw in Rag, Yesra and 3 more big drops because let's be honest, you've either lost or won by turn 8 with this deck. IMO it's going to win vs control decks, lose vs aggro decks and be on parity with mid-range. Thanks for the share though.
-1 kelthuzad +1 zombie chow and it wrecks aggro.
I've had great success doing efficient trades with Face Hunter and Mech Mage. Hunter is a lot easier of a matchup for me. Always Mulligan for Mini Bot, easy trades right there. Wild Pyro + Equality is an amazing combo play turn 4 when they flood the board. Then Aldor for the Blastmage / Savannah / Boom late game. If not that, then Equality + Consec for his board clear and +2 HP.
Is Loatheb an ok sub for Harrison Jones? (only card I dont have)
Can always use Harrison Jones pet Acidic Swamp Ooz.
u can also combo ooze with other drops in later turns.. plus its an extra 2 drop that can help defend against decks like zoo and mechmage (chuggers, warpers), priest (clerics) etc..
Joster's Midrange Paladin Gameplay.
So much aggro since ladder reset, so i took out KT because it's way too slow and added Seal of Light. I'd never tried this card before, and honestly thought it might be bad, but it's pretty good. By itself it kills Huffer, Knife Juggler, etc. Plus, if you already have a weapon equipped it takes you to 3 - 6 dmg, which kills many larger minions.
I find midrange hunter to be the best matchup for this deck, but I haven't been keeping specific stats this season, so I can't say, but it is a win almost every time I queue up into it. The druid matchup is favored for pally as well, close to 60% win rate, I would say.
What purpose does KT serve in this deck also no Loatheb with Rogue being your worst match up?
KT is one of my favorite cards in the deck, since as paladin you almost always have some board presence, and KT cant be easily killed by druids or midrange hunters. Although loatheb is strong in the rogue matchup, I just couldn't find any room for it in the deck. Loatheb is usually good in decks which want to burst their opponents, and this deck has 0 burst, so that one turn stall just isn't effective enough.
Nice deck
Swapped out Harisson for Swamp ooze (because I don't have Harisson) and Defender of Argus for Kezian (for the Hunter / Mage meta)
Top deck m8, I r8 8/8 ;^)
