The deck list here is built accordingly to my style, but I am here to teach you how to tweak the oil rogue to your style so that you can comfortably climb the ladder, in the current meta.
The reason why I say that is because the meta is always changing and the oil rogue is a control combo deck where you rely on the Tinker’s sharpsword oil to finish our opponent and we usually combo this with the minions on the board and Blade Flurryto deal over 20 points of damage.
But if we were to waste our win conditions, then we need to know our deck inside out and know just how much damage is left in our deck to finish off our opponent. At the very least, if you know you don’t have enough damage, you can at least concede early and move on to the next game rather than playing it out.
GAMEPLAY VIDEO - IT HAS BUTTONS TO SKIP BETWEEN MATCH-UPS AND DECK TECH :)
SUBSTITUTIONS – I will use my decklist as the standard
Southsea Deckhand for Shade of Naxxramas, Edwin VanCleef Piloted Shredder or Big Game Hunter
-
- Some players feel that Southsea Deckhand is fairly easy to remove, but I love the card since you can easily combo it with tinker’s sharpsword oil to deal instant damage for lethal.
- In some circumstances, you will need to play Southsea deckhand as a body to gain board control, which is quite ineffective
- If you value the board control over the instant damage, you can choose any of the substitutions since they are stickier creatures that are solid against either match-ups and stay long enough on the board to be comboed with Tinker Sharpsword Oil
Bloodmage Thalnos for Kobold Geomancer or Loot Hoarder
-
- These are just cheaper substitutions for Bloodmage Thalnos and it all depends if you value card draw or spell damage more
- I recommend the spell damage!
Earthen Ring Farseer for Edwin VanCleef, Shade of Naxxramas, Piloted Shredder, Goblin Auto-Barber or Kobold Geomancer
-
- Earthen Ring Farseer is excellent against the aggro match-up, however some would rather run a stickier creature in this slot to fair better against the control match-ups as well
- You can replace one Earthen Ring Farseer with any of the subs, but I recommend another 3 drop to maintain the curve
Tinker’s sharpsword oil for Dr. Boom
-
- 2 Tinker’s sharpsword oil is sometimes clunky, so some prefer to replace one copy with Dr. Boom
- Dr. Boom is excellent for immediate board pressure
Violet Teacher for Piloted Shredder
-
- Violet teacher is a complete menace against the aggro match-ups, but can easily be removed from the control match-ups
- To fair better against control match-ups, some players substitutes one copy for a piloted shredder
Loatheb for Sludge Belcher, Ogre Ninja, Piloted Shredder, Dark Iron Skulker or Assassin's Blade.
-
- Loatheb guarentees board control so that you would have at least one creature on the board to combo it with tinker’s sharpsword oil to potentially push for lethal
- The other substitutes are quite adequate as well if you do not have loatheb since they are very sticky and can last longer than one turn to be comboed with tinker’s sharpsword oil
Harrison Jones for Emperor Thaurissan, Sludge Belcher, or Kezan Mystic (tech slot)
-
- Emperor Thaurissan is the new addition to this deck, however as power as he can be, he is not required to be in this deck because the deck is already solid without it. At times, since there are a lot of Grim Patron Warriors, I tend to use Harrison Jones.
Antique Healbot for Sludge Belcher or Piloted Shredder
- A lot of people preferred antique healbot in order to have a higher success rate against hunters, however people like Hyped believes that heal is not necessarily that good against aggressive match-ups, but card like sludge belcher and piloted shredder that have a higher board pressure does.

The Combos are written by RyzenTV, and although there are A LOT more combos, these are the most commonly used! I suggest learning the combo yourselves, since it allows you to adapt to various of situations and not attached to just these combos.
TURN 10: Deadly Poison + Deadly Poison + Southsea Deckhand + Preparation + Tinker's Sharpsword Oil x2 + Blade Flurry = 30 Damage
TURN 7: Deadly Poison + Tinker's Sharpsword Oil + Blade Flurry = 6 Damage AoE Clear
TURN 9: Farseer/SI:7 Agent + Tinker's Sharpsword Oil + Blade Flurry = 6/3 Minion + 4 Damage AoE Clear
TURN 4: Preparation + Si:7 Agent + Tinker's Sharpsword Oil = 6/3 Minion + 4/2 Weapon
TURN 4: Violet Teacher + Preparation + Sap/Eviscerate = 3/5 + 1/1 + 1/1 + Board Clear

What if i don't have preperation? i am very tempted to dust some of the bad legendaries from the adventures and get x2 prep, is it worth it?
can anyone tell me how to win against control warrior and combo druid i'm a little late to start and their everywhere
or am I just missing something
Nawh, these matchups just really suck for rogue in general. Control warrior you just gotta rush down before they can do anything and combo druid just has more strong minions over oil and a stronger combo for less cards.
this mulligan guide really helps to me, im rank 6 now and im using 1 burgle instead antique heal bot
Does anybody have a clue on how to win secret paladin specifically?
People say oil rogue is massively favored against it but I just can't beat it.. they always have muster on curve, MC into dr boom or 2nd MC on turn 6-7, loatheb on 5 means i cant clear anything they put down.. Even if I get good draws I can rarely every beat secret paladin if they get dr 6 into dr 7 etc.
Also how do you deal with face shaman? It's really hard to remove 4 health minions on turn 2,3 without Eviscerate (which is very low chance to draw in first 6 cards..) and by turn 5 I'm usually below 15-18 hp and dead to on curve doomhammer.
I think the best play would be to let them commit a little and wipe with fan of knives (gg silver hand recruits). If you can draw a sap for when they play MC then you can attack face, proc 2 secrets (noble sacrifice and avenge), sap the challenger and proceed to shift tempo in your favor. Since you can attack with your face you don't need minions to get rid of those 2 most powerful secrets. Usually they also run competitive spirit, and with no minions on the board, they don't benefit from having it in play. Playing a thalnos or another low health minion after gets rid of repentance and they proc redemption if the dude from noble sacrifice dies. You just gotta play around the secrets so that they just don't line up. Save removal as best you can. I find that usually settles the deal with secret paladin.
Hi, I was wondering why you would pick Scarlet Crusader over Silent Knight, since Silent Knight also has stealth so it's even harder to remove
Good question, but sometimes it's better for him to kill your crusader than you forcing him to hit your face, it could kill you if you don't have enough burst and you're not allowing him to play it safe, still, seems better but im just not sure. Also scarlet trades better.
This deck is weak against Dragon Priest, I would say? Or somebody have any idea how to deal with them.
Hopefully you can get a board wipe off on them. Since they are all about KEEPING tempo, if you're able to shut them down early and finish them off with blade flurry/evis spells (They pop out strong taunts like no tomorrow) then you're golden. But it's not favored for oil rogue. They have more minions than you can typically answer.
this might just be the first time i see the crusaders added into an oil deck... and i actually like the idea! :D
i was running a different deck list but messed around with ti to include the Scarlet Crusaders so atm my list looks like this:
Shiv replaces Bloodmage (its that one extra dmg for the same price AND the card draw in one card, altho not a body it still works fine)
Sabotage replaces Loatheb (the list i saw didnt even have Loatheb, it had Sabotage instead)
-1Fan of Knives
-1Violet Teacher
+2Piloted Shredder
(I removed 1 Fan and 1 Farseer from the original deck i was running before i saw this to include the Crusaders)
havent played it yet so wish me luck xD
I'll post again with results soon™
Is running two Sprints overkill? What do you think about running only one?
while i dont personally think thats overkill why dont you just try and replace one for... an Assassin's Blade (i guess it would be 'A' replacement) and just see how that works out for you xD
It's far from overkill, you have to think about the basic of TC games and the basic deck archetypes. This deck archetype is a Combo deck that relies heavily on spells and drawing certain cards to complete those combos. Sprint allows you to draw those cards much faster. In combination with preparation a turn 4 Sprint many times sets u up to flat out control the board and win the game easily duo to high value minions and cheap removal.
What do you think about switching 2scarlets to 2shredders?
And what can i switch for sabotage?
thats just preference, i WANT to learn oil rougue so i've seen tons of decklists, if you dont think scarlets work for you, the shreders are a number1 pick for replacement (at least according to the decklists ive seen)
as for sabotage... theres a deckist out there that apparently made it to #1legend without Loatheb and with Sabotage instead *wink wink nudge nudge*
Implosion, Imp Gang boss.
Dunno if only fucked up for me but the video is atleast fucked up. Like it isnt there like it usually is
Scarlet Crusader, the hell?
It's very a very sticky minion. I have matched Hermies play several games with this deck. Crusader really helped with oil as a win condition. Don't knock it until you try it!
