Hi, im Nalguidan and i want to bring you the mech rogue i played this season to climb legend combined with other decks, and then climbed to rank 50 middle season (i have no screenshot since im currently higher than that but you can see me play it in high ranks on the video i will upload soon) the deck isnt entirely new but has a lot of changes and its really consistent and fun to play.
Being a mech deck doesnt mean its aggro like mech mage, this rogue sometimes have an explosive start, but also work if you get a good curve on high cost minions.
Gameplay: (sorry this is in spanish, im from Argentina and i made it to my team channel, if you dont understand at least you can watch my decisions)
Link: (its a playlist with a few games) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlcsQ-UHHg8&list=PLwFEUO5Mi2uFAdL9DxiZA9H07i0fd_pEC
Popular matchups and mulligan:
As general mulligan you want to keep Cogmaster, Mechwarper, Anoyotron and Deadly poison vs most of the classes, also you want backstab vs agro decks and you can even keep harvest golem if playing vs slow decks. If you already have a 2 drop you keep any 3 drop but Agent, wich you only want if going second or having backstab.
Hunter: Rogue is favorite to win unless you get an awfull start, face hunter should be harder but you should win if you can stop them early.
Warrior: Like the old zoolock you overwhelm them with early minions hoping they dont have every single answer, and if the early game fails, you still have your big treaths.
Oil rogue: Easy matchup unless you have slow hand and they manage to get a good tempo adventage with sap. Loatheb, dr boom and ragnaros are amazing vs oil rogue.
Mech mage: Whoever gets the better starting hands ussualy wins, the rogue have better mid/late game but mage ussualy manages to end the game with spells even if you have the board
Combo druid: Every deck with mechwarper should be good vs druid, i think its the best matchup for this deck
Card replacement:
The mechs are pretty much needed, you can replace 1 or 2 for something with similar cost.
If you are facing a lot of aggro/early decks i recomend to replace an azure drake or sky golem for a second cogmaster, maybe a healbot too.
If you dont have some of the big drops you can use Gallawyx, Sylvanas, or even Sprint to refull your hand
English: I didn't thought it would be so usefull, but thanks to this I'm in a big chain of victories, even when I'm missing some needed cards (Ragnaros and Lothareb)...maybe it's beccause I never netdecked and thus I never ranked better than 15, but whatever, I like this.
EDIT: In order to replace the 2 legs I didn't have I added Toshley for damage and some handy pieces and Gang Up either to copy some good cards from my opponents or to get a few more Senseis. Was it a good idea?
Took me like 8 matches to win my 2 for my quest.
Not sure if it's me or the deck or the meta, but, deck wasn't working. It seems like all my mech decks aren't working these days. I think BRM killed the midrange game.
What? This isn't a mid range deck. If it's midgame was killed, it isn't an issue with this deck...this has 11 drops that are 3 or less mana. Almost 20 of the cards cost 3 or less.
And this is rogue. You can literally deal with every card in the game for 2 mana up to 6 and 7 drops. Higher drops? Simply sap/Sabotage/Assassinate/BladeFlurry.
I only 1 iron sensei and 1 s1:7 agent. Missing loatheb and ragnaros too. Replaced them with Baron Gedon, blade furry, 2 tinkertown, and tinker's sharp oil. Also removed one bomb lobber and replaced with healbot. Is this ok? Any problems with my replacements?
I absolutely love the idea of playing Baron, letting him clean you board while you sit back and wait for a giant oil/poison/flurry turn. Awesome choice. Too risky for my taste, but whatever you have fun with is what you should play. If you're going to play baron, the healbot is a necessity. And you'll likely need sprint in this case. Issues will undoubtfully arrive if we hit things with our face all day and then play baron without having healbot in hand.
Replacing bomb lobber is fine. Lobber is a tempo card. If your missing rag, your baron and healbot can extend your game by a couple turns in most cases. You should just accept that some games may close a couple turns later than they would have otherwise, and work it into your game plan. If you know you may not close quite as quickly as if you had the board and Ragnaros, a few key, early, and midgame trades when value presents itself will ensure that your hybrid pseudo-tempo/control deck gets it's dues.
Just keep in mind that the mechs are your early game...and they die to Baron. So use Baron to prepare to close the game after getting maximum value out of them.
Sequence:
Early Game: Mechs/Board/Value
MidGame: Mechs/Face
Lategame: Prepare to get your opponents minions down to 2 health, drop baron and healbot, and get ready for a weapon finish.
Definitely a fun deck. Tried unchanged on ladder, only bad loss was to a mech mage who had a god start, don't think any deck could've stabilized from cogmaster, mechwarper and clockwork gnome, to spider tank and annoyotron....after that the game is a blur. Really had no chance. Close losses were to a zoo deck that drew both defender of argus and activated all of his nerubian eggs and a druid deck, no idea what it was...maybe ramp that missed ramp spell draws...that drew all of his early game then from turn 7 on just kept dropping legendary after legendary.
I tried this deck in casual to complete quests. This deck was so much fun!
Fun deck. I wish I spoke spanish so I could understand the video :). Thanks for posting.
Dr. boom is a pretty unique card. However, I think you can replace it with another sky golem.
I also find that bling tron helps too if you want to put that in there with a bladeflurry.
Great deck... I took out the sky golem and added in a bling tron and took out the rag and added in a flurry.
Very nice deck, just played 4 games and won all of them. Need to see how this deck does on ladder.
Nice deck just made it to climb the ladder for the reset. I only had time for 2 games and i Won both.
Great job!
So far i've won every game with this deck, currently 7-0. I did put a sneed's old shredder instead of Dr. Boom because i simply don't have him. Also i changed one azure drake for Harrison Jones. Pretty solid deck Nalguidan
The author suggested Sylvanas, Gallywix or Sprint, but from my experience (40 games in) it's impossible to replace Dr. Boom and Ragnaros for cards that are passive in nature. The strength of the deck is that you can have an aggro scum start with Iron Sensei, AND an acceptable late game with aggressive, board-clearing big guys. Both Rag and Boom provide the necessary firepower to finish off your opponent, so I wouldn't replace either.
Personally I'm a fan of Kel'thuzad, but he has no place in a deck filled with spells and very few sticky minions. I would go with one oil if you can, at least it simulates the explosive impact of Rag (and you have something on the board most of the time, so the combo is rarely unused).
To simulate the burst of Ragnaros is throw in a Leeroy or Arcane Golem and use an oil on either of them. However, it's only viable as a finisher and either would be easily cleared if it's not a lethal situation.
I would say probably black knight or sylvvanas or just some other solid minion like another piloted sky golem.
Love this deck!
Have gone 18-8 with it over the last 2 days climbing from rank 17 to 9. 77% win rate with the coin, 62% without. Hardest matchup has been against Control Warriors (3-3) and Midrange Pally (2-2). Mech Mage is a favorable match in my opinion (1-1) it's all about that early board presence. Completely owns Aggro/Midrange Hunters(4-0) and Oil Rogues (4-0); I usually get them to concede by turn 5.
Granted, 17 to 9 isn't spectacular, but it's a very consistent and flexible deck. Many ways to win and NO ONE expects Ragnaros to pop out of a Rogue deck!
