Singleton, HUGE minions, lots of legendaries, piles of removal, what more could you want in a deck??
This deck has a few packages working together that make it really versatile against most strategies.
This strategy worked a lot better before Pendant of Earth got nerfed for the sins of druid. The druid/priest multi-class cards got hit HARD for druid even though they were only okay in priest. ah well
Undead Package
Sinrunner, Rotten Applebaum, and Shatterskin Gargoyle - Because they are the low end of your minion curve, you'll want to keep one of these in your mulligan most of the time. They take a lot of tempo back when played ASAP. They all share an annoyingly effective deathrattle your opponents won't want to deal with.
Catrina Muerte - Amazing pull from Elise, Badlands Savior, brings back your annoying deathrattle undead to bother your opponent with. The taunt undead will make it awkward to get to Catrina through them.
Grave Digging - You can play this for 4, drawing cards is good. Running this over Switcheroo as drawing spells over minions is good for obtaining enough removal to keep yourself alive. Most of your undead have taunt so they are likely to die quickly.
Thunderbringer Package - One of the main inspirations to try a deck like this was when this card came out early for badlands. This card works by attempting to pull an elemental and a beast out of your deck. The effect will still work if you have no minions of one type but still have some of the other. It can pull:
Elementals: Neptulon the Tidehunter, Stone Drake
Beasts: Red Herring, Blackwater Behemoth, Sinrunner (this card is cool because it works for both Thunderbringer and Catrina Muerte!)
Remember, if you obtain an extra copy of Thunderbringer with Creation Protocol or Elise, Badlands Savior, the copied horse can pull out the original copy in either the beast or elemental slot.
Mulligan is very matchup dependent. Choose your removal wisely, but Illuminate and Thrive in the Shadows are always good keeps. I have found one of the better cards to keep in mulligan is actually Prince Renathal as you effectively remove him from lowrolls with Protocol and Elise. Stats to play on turn 3 go pretty far when your cheapest minions otherwise are 5 and 6 mana.
Love Everlasting is good, but it will eventually fizzle in a deck like this. You're using the discount to be able to play your removal more efficiently and bridge the game to turn 8+ when you pivot and start dropping giant minions every turn.
A good tip is that Shadow Cord: Distort can kill those pesky midsize divine shield minions that paladin and rogue like to make for relatively low mana cost
Currently 23-16 with this version
.
I'm all about trying to find new cool decks, but man this deck seems all over the place lol. The amount of garbage your running for "chances" at super niche combos is incredibly high.
On top of that you are running purely big minions, reno, and renathal. I have no idea how you survive against anything remotely aggressive. I know this deck isn't beating warrior either since it's a priest deck, and the small chances priest have at beating warrior through Dirty Rats or Theotar don't exist here.
Idk what this beats tbh. High roll an on curve Elise/Thunderbringer or bust?
You're definitely right about the deck being a little unfocused. I haven't grinded out enough matches to see what package is better than the other. Hopefully the standard rotation that adds a few key big priest cards to standard will elevate this deck to new heights! I mostly wanted to post the version I have been running this expansion before the full rotation in a few weeks.
P.S. try playing in casual and not on ladder, this deck is mostly fun, and gets swarmed by aggro pretty easily
This deck auto lose against so many decks it’s not even funny, yeah maybe in bronze you can play it.
nice deck but i put an edc in there instead of distort.
steam viper stonebrew.
Interesting, let me know how running ETC goes!
its going fine with edc, against DK and warlock.
Shapeless Constellation and Party Crasher are often dead in hand
so i'm trying other cards instead.
those are both pretty new additions, I was fighting a ton of plague DK and wanted some other cards to not rely on elise and reno as much. I ran another removal spell and Masked Reveler before shapeless and party crasher
plague dk was my main reason for edc.
yes. removal sticky minions or deathrattle minions or the one that removes secrets if you face a lot of mages/hunters.
lots of choices
