Gameplay
Overall, this is an aggro/tempo deck. We take face damage where available and try to keep imps up always!
Early Game
Imp (and a little bit of demon) it up! Flood the board fast and try and profit from Impending Catastrophe or Nofin's Imp-ossible. We want to make our board as sticky as possible.
Mid Game
Keep up the tempo, present scary threats with Vile Library or Symphony of Sins. Focus on building your fatigue count and staying alive, early damage doesn't matter. Encroaching Insanity may seem like a do nothing, but will give stronger fatigue lovers (and a 7 face damage to them the second time around!)
Late Game
Imp King Rafaam and Crazed Conducter allow for board refills with a single card, eventually your opponent will run out and give up. If not Crescendo, Encroaching Insanity #2 or leftover Symphony of Sins will finish it off.
Mulligan Guide
Keep
- Anything imp-y (Baritone Imp is our best, sticky and builds fatigue)
- Nofin's Imp-possible is amazing with 2/3 Imp/Demons, even better with Fiendish Circle
- Symphony of Sins is an emergency button: hand refuel, taunt, board wipe, face damage. Pray RNG sees you right!
Don't Keep
- Felstring Harp is pointless early on, it is better saving you with large fatigue, not 3 damage from a flame-imp
- Imp King Rafaam needs infuse, however our board is constantly full of expendable runts, he will infuse in 2-3 turns easily
- Both Vile Library and Impending Catastrophe in the opening hand, pick based on opponent and other imps
Tips
- Don't waste a Crescendo! It's more valuable to us as face damage or destroying a late-game board than killing things early days. If against aggro then maybe use it.
- Void Virtuoso is a demon (gasp! shock right?!), don't feel bad about using him with Nofin's Imp-possible early days. We've got another one and Felstring Harp for later use.
- Don't be scared to take damage early, a fatigue here or Flame Imp there, you'll heal 6 from Felstring Harp passively anyway
- BOO! Scare your opponent with burst as often as possible. Goad them into thinking your board is weak before buffing with our arsenal.
- Pray for RNG with School Teacher. Pulling another copy of Crescendo or any imp-ness is so good here!!
- Don't give up, you may have lost your imps for the 9th time, but you'll always get more!
In Memoriam - Lady Darkvein
The old combo piece of the deck before Symphony of Sins took her winrate away... Below is the old combo and swaps to make if you wanna try and meme a win but it is nowhere near as good currently. One day, she will rise again to deal near lethal with minimal setup.
Swaps
- Imp King Rafaam to Lady Darkvein
- Flame Impx2 to Defilex2
Combo
- Ensure last shadow spell is Encroaching Insanity (can be previous turn)
- Play Void Virtuoso + Lady Darkvein + Defile for 26
- Remaining mana on Crescendo
Notes
Massive thanks to AntDecks for helping with the updates! Hopefully this deck will be reborn again to the win-rate
Any Updates on this Deck since the last time? I feel like School Teacher isn't performing really well in this now
I have to believe I'm playing this wrong at diamond 5 going 13-20. I feel outclassed by every aggro deck that doesn't have to damage themselves to establish pressure. I don't have clear answers to early threats. I need to spend a turn drawing an answer or use crescendo too early to be effective. Maybe my mulligans have just been bad, but I feel like I just can't react to any opponent's board state and they're free to do whatever they want if they get ahead for one turn.
Whats the aggro matchups?
Like all aggro decks?
Currently against arcane hunter and shadow priest, they are usually easy wins
I often just let them go face for a while rather than trying to clear
What are you keeping as mulligan out of interest?
Need the update, deck is extremely fun but todays nerf to symphony makes me think the card is useless in it since u depend on luck with drawing lady now
Updated in a hopefully better glory :D
3-0 on Legend, I think if you know how to play, its extremly good! You can make so much damage from hand.
0 for 4 at D5. The only logical conclusion is that it does not work as claimed.
what exactly does not work as claimed? I am winning over 50% on legend. If you are referring to the darkvein combo not working, then you are mistaken
In response to your comment, I have played 10 total games with this now, 1 for 10 record.
In all my games, I played mostly fast decks, dead well before having the combo pieces. I pulled off the combo once against a heavily armored Warrior and lost next turn. In one game, I misplayed the combo, so perhaps I would 2 for 10 if I hadn't made that mistake.
I've also never played this style of deck, so no doubt I am doing something wrong. This is why I say it doesn't play as advertised. All the talk here is that the deck mysteriously just works and it's easy to rack up wins. Clearly not the case.
I don't think it's a mystery. What rank are you playing on? Most people succeeding on this deck are on legend, which is kind of telling that it's a skill factor
I'm on D5.
I've played 14 more games, 3 of them wins. The combo worked twice, and was essential in my last victory against the typical Warlock deck. It seems slow, generally needing to be turn 8. Unless everyone else usually gets Lady Darkvein discounted by Symphony of Sins. That has hardly happened for me. The RNG is not my friend,
My winrate has dropped quite a bit in the last couple days, fresh meta after the mini set made it relatively easy to rack up wins
Im either stomped by mech rogue or control warlock, so like nothing ever changed after the miniset 🙃
Im currently reworking so will update soon, hopefully we get nerfs to hit the staleness and this can kinda peak again
this deck is garbage
Fatigue damage is bugged for me...
I get 6 or 7 damage and oponent only 1...
They take fatigue damage based on their fatigue state, not yours via Encroaching Insanity
Damn.... this deck.... It's really not easy to control....but still even an average player as me is winning with it.. I don't know how, why, but yeah, it's working.
Thanks! When I was testing different play styles, I often ended up taking a load of damage without noticing XD
Best decks in HS I’ve always played are aggro with a combo end game package. Most variants of this are control and don’t have the same early game power, half the time I’m not even using the combo.
Once anomalies leave standard, I feel this will be MUCH stronger.
Hi
Your Late combo is nice: I deleted one piece Mortal Eradication, and try Lady Darkvein,
i never use [card]Scourge Supplies[/card]. All time you have 5+ cards in hand.
Imp King Rafaam is help come back in fight.
Imprisoned Horror (2X) are very strong. When i played always max 1 mana.
Mal'Ganis + Movement of Pride
My Deck:
# 2x (1) Felstring Harp
# 1x (1) Flame Imp
# 2x (1) Void Virtuoso
# 2x (2) Baritone Imp
# 2x (2) Crescendo
# 2x (2) Defile
# 2x (2) Impending Catastrophe
# 2x (2) Vile Library
# 2x (3) Encroaching Insanity
# 2x (3) Fiendish Circle
# 1x (3) Mortal Eradication
# 2x (4) Crazed Conductor
# 2x (4) Mischievous Imp
# 1x (5) Lady Darkvein
# 1x (5) Symphony of Sins
# 1x (6) Imp King Rafaam
# 2x (9) Imprisoned Horror
# 1x (9) Mal'Ganis
Imp king was tempting but what I found was I was cycling so much through my deck, any infuse wasn’t very good.
I may add the imprisoned horrors though once the meta is less spell-ish
Im only 3-0 at D-2 with this, but WOW does this deck slap lol
