Use the power of all the biggest Beasts! The idea for this deck is to get emergency maneuvers down as soon as possible, and you can do this by drawing it and playing it, or using the Honorable Kill spell. Vanndar can give you a lot of early value if you get him in your opening hand, but not required to win. The hero card can be super clutch when you need to duplicate a powerful beast like a mountain bear or owl. Revive pet can also improve the consistency of that trigger. Tracking can be used to find your Vanndar, or grab a beast you don't want in your Wing Commander pool, or even to just guarantee you have it in hand. Sometimes grabbing a dredge weapon with tracking early on helps you consistently get reduced beasts or even find Vanndar that way as well. Additionally, the Quest is only in there to throw off your opponent a little bit, and allow you to start with essentially a 29 card deck. It's a small thing, but I definitely think it is worth it. If you want to change out Imported Tarantula to add some more damage spells, I have experimented with versions of this deck where you get the hero card hero power reduced to 0 which can be really powerful, but it became much more difficult to do so after Dragonbane Shot nerf and the nerf to the Questline itself. I hope everyone who tries it has fun with the deck, and maybe has success with it!
In case anyone is curious, currently 9-5 with the deck as is! Granted, I'm only in Plat, and I will give you all an update when I know how it performs in Diamond ranks! I hope everyone who has tried the deck has at least had fun with it!
One of the funniest decks I've played in a while.
Thanks a lot mate
Hey I've been using your deck the last few days with a few adjustments for the couple cards I'm missing. Been having a great time, so thanks!
Also, was just wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a replacement for Barak Kodobane and the rat king?
You could try using Frantic Hippogryph and the location? That might work to replace Rat King's Rush effect. And it will be a permanent rush minion in your Beast pool once it dies so it can be resummoned. And it still is a 5 cost so it won't mess up the Vanndar play. I don't know if there is a good replacement for Barak Kodobane unfortunately. I hope that helps! I'd be happy to come up with an alternative and I will definitely reply again here if I think of one before then! I'm glad you're enjoying the deck!
Get destroyed by every aggro deck, dunno how you even win with this. Its Bait guys dont play it
There are some tough matchups for sure, but if you mulligan for secrets, you can pretty reliably have cards to deal with aggro at the very least until turn 6 or 7. If you survive that long, you'll pretty much always have a decent shot at winning the game with all of the mana cheat and resummon value. You do have to be really picky with your discovers as well from dredge weapon and tracking. Of course there will still be matchups that just kill you by turn 5, but I promise you that this deck does win games even in Diamond rank. Currently 11-8 with the deck, sitting at a 56% winrate in Diamond. Freezing trap and explosive trap are the best ways to stall out the game versus aggro decks btw. Harpoon Gun also helps if you sacrifice a little bit of health to stop the aggro pressure before minions get buffed or get to hit face multiple times. Also, early plays you can do with Rat King to help fight early aggro is dredge rat king turn 3, play turn 4 and ideally kill something but rat king doesn't die, then devouring swarm it or evasive secret trigger to get another rat king down. You can usually get an infinite cycle of rat kings out and aggro pretty much will always lose in that endgame unless they run hard removal or silences. I hope this helps at least somewhat!
Very early days but I'm 3-0 with this deck against 2 blood DK's and a quest hunter (a real one).
I did make one change before I queued into any games though, I took out the quest and put Nathanos in, he's a great finisher with the owl deathrattle and has versatility because of the removal with tarantula dr, or stall with mountain bear dr
I get your point behind throwing the opponent off the scent with the quest but it's not worth using up a Mulligan slot, in a deck where hard mulliganing for Vanndar (or tracking) is so important
Besides that recommendation, the list is great and extremely fun, nice work!
Thank you! And yeah I agree Nathanos is a powerful finisher card, I just sometimes like running 29 cards in that deck especially since it can be further thinned by dredging and the Honorable Kill spell! The Quest is honestly leftover from the deck I made before that actually did use the quest that no longer works in standard. Dragonbane Shot nerfed to 3 mana killed my deck lol. That was essentially the only way to have barely any damage spells other than the fire secret, but still be able to deal a lot of damage and progress the quest. Also, when Imp Curse Warlock was even more popular than it is currently, around Sunken City release, that quest got completed a lot faster because of the curses too.
