January Update
I haven't played much this month, but I just climbed from Platinum to high Diamond with this list, going 18-2 with the latest version of it. The deck seems insane after the round of nerfs!
I'm still not sure about the spicy change: Floecasters instead of School Teachers. They've seemed ... actually decent. But so was School Teacher.
December
Climbed from Diamond 10 to Legend with a 49-25 record. Made some slight adjustments to the list for the final steps from D2 to Legend.
MULLIGAN GUIDE
Keep 1-drops, Amplified Snowflurrys, Frozen Touches, and Frostweave Dungeoneers. That's basically it, unless you already have Frozen Touches and want to keep Commander Sivara in slower matchups.
Looks like a tempo deck, without any big plays, I'm surprised that would keep up with the abusive strategies in the environment? What're the match ups like and strategy? What changes did you have to make for the final push to Legend? What other cards did you test and reject? Also, how have the nerfs affected it (with decks like Implock, Frost DK & Pure Paladin getting more play now). I've been looking for a mage deck to play without breaking the bank, which makes your list appealing
Edits: last question
The deck just has a LOT of reach with nigh-infinite Frozen Touches and generated Arcane Bolts. Strategy is to bank on those burning down your opponent, with enough stall (Freezes) to survive once you lose the board. You try not to lose the board early, but it's gonna happen eventually, you're a Mage.
I got Legend really quickly after the Nerfs, so I'm not sure the deck doesn't need adjusting in the new meta. The three MUs you mention are tough ones, for example; and really the deck succeeded because it was a Rogue farmer before the nerfs (my deck tracker says 16-5 vs Rogue).
My latest thought is to replace Brann in the above list with Varden Dawngrasp for another turn of anti-aggro stall.
The push-to-Legend changes were to cut Queen Azshara and Vicious Slitherspears for Shivering Sorceresses and ... well, I'm still experimenting with the Brann slot, but he was in that slot when I hit Legend.
Nice, thanks for the explanation. Played 22 games and gone 12-10 (gutter legend). Didn't like Trogg in the deck but perhaps didn't give it enough of a chance. Had some success with Coroner, esp on Thassarian. Currently testing to see if the naga synergy can give it some gas/curve (Crushclaw Enforcer, Baba Naga). Took out the Dungeoneers because they hardly ever lasted a turn against frost DK, and gave too much life to DH. I don't own any, but have you tried Prismatic Elemental?
No, the Vicious Syndicate version of the deck recommended Prismatics, but I didn't feel they were worth crafting (and haven't opened any).
