Inspired from BasilAnguis' old list (https://outof.cards/hearthstone/decks/25424-mill-druid-updated)
One of the most fun decks I've played. Does make people disconnect. Maybe will be stronger with the new mill card announced in the mini-expansion.
Climbed to Silver 4 in wild. (72% winrate until Silver 5, 50% winrate afterwards)
I've included Prince Renathal for a couple of reasons:
- there are so many draw/stall/remove cards to choose from if you are limited to 30 cards. I've found that adding another 10 doesn't really dillute your options each turn that much.
- +10 health is great for stalling.
- if you are playing against a non-prince deck, they will by default go to fatigue 10 turns earlier than you. This way, I skipped on adding ways to cheat fatigue to the deck (i.e. Jade Idol), since most of the times it's just useless.
Ways of winning with this deck:
- Mill your opponent, eventually fatigue him while keeping his board in check.
- Drop Selfish Shellfish very early on, and try to aggro your opponent along with other small drops.
Great cards early on:
- Far Watch Post. The earlier, the better. Prime target for your opponent. The harder it is for them to play their cards, the easier you can mill them/develop board presence.
- Prize Vendor/Grove Tender. Coldlight Oracle is better later on, when their hand is almost full, and you can mill them for more.
- Forest Guide is ok if it survives for a couple of turns and you can pressure your opponent's hand with something else.
- Innervate + Selfish Shellfish or Doomsayer if you suspect your opponent might be playing aggro.
Control combos:
- Solar Eclipse + Naturalize. If your opponent is close to fatigue, you may even Naturalize your own Selfish Shellfish. (consider it may be better off Naturalized if you haven't played N'Zoth, the Corruptor yet, since it may get Polymorphed etc.)
- Spreading Plague + Doomsayer. This has a decent chance of clearing the board.
- Silas Darkmoon to steal a big minion from your opponent. Since you are running so many small minions, you are likely to steal something big from your opponent, while giving little in return. Also, nobody expects him.
- Doomsayer + Silas Darkmoon to clear the board.
- Poison Seeds + Starfall.
- Bloodmage Thalnos + Swipe/Starfall.
- Deathlord with some removal prepared. Generally Thickhide Kodo to stall.
- Play N'Zoth, the Corruptor if you have to stall and you played some taunts, or (much better) have some Selfish Shellfishes that have been destroyed.
- Moonlit Guidance really helps complete these two card combos.
- I run Bloodmage Thalnos instead of Jade Idol. Spell damage is good with clearing spells, and drawing a card may help you get to the Mill cards that you actually want.
- Ferocious Howl is one of of the weaker cards from the deck. I run Silas Darkmoon instead of a second copy.
- Wildheart Guff is generally good. Helps with cycling through your deck/having enough mana to have a beefier turn.
Winrate against classes: (generally, you will perform better if your curve peaks out at a smaller mana cost, and/if they run a 30-card deck)
- Mage (8-3): One of the best classes to be matched against. They really like filling their hand/drawing cards from their deck, effectively helping you out. Will have a hard time if they run Prince, and/or a burn-centered deck.
- Priest (7-3): Have won against some questline priests. Pretty hard to beat if they run Elwynn Boar, or play Big Priest. (have to aggro them out/hope they mill important cards)
- Hunter (1-3): Really hard to beat. Midrange Hunter is a really bad matchup.
- Rogue (2-1): Some rogues may naturally run tech cards (i.e. Togwaggle's Scheme, Academic Espionage, Waxadred)
- Druid (4-1).
- Warrior (2-1).
- Paladin (1-0).
- Shaman (0-1).
- Demon Hunter (1-0).
- Warlock (0-0).
At one point, had 9 consecutive opponents with Prince Renathal. Slightly annoying)))
Thank you for reading this. I would like to hear your thoughts on it, what cards you think might work better etc.
