With the introduction of the new Tome . With malcazar imp you can redraw your whole hand and those cards only cost 1. Compared to other combo decks traditional Mecacthun had a good match up against board based agro decks with a lot of removal  as he did not need many cards dedicated to the combo itself.

Now with the imp +  tome you can reshuffle in your deck mecacthun and even sometimes cataclysm for a 2 mana combo (or 6 if you have 0 mana and deck is empty) If you have a mithril road you can practically play all the cards you shuffled in your deck for free. This accelerates the combo a LOT and you might be able to combo as early as turn 6 with some chances while having the anti agro tools of a control warlock, a luxury that other fast combos like pilager do not have.

I think it might become quickly one  of the most effective decks in the format with the possibility to outright win a game quickly while being good vs agro
