It may be mech mage, but I've got to add Archmage Antonidas to this deck,
Don't have Naxx yet, but could i replace Laotheb with Archmage Antonidas? considering the heaps of spare parts you get?
I've played Mech Mage with and without Antonidas. Antonidas is very strong with spare parts, especially the cloakfield, but I would suggest replacing something for Arcane Intellects, as Antonidas slows down your game plan in favor of a strong finisher. The extra draw is needed in a more Midrangey Mech Mage versus a more aggressive Mech Mage which seeks to end the game before even needing Antonidas.
Basically yes, Antonidas can and probably will do some good work, but the best way to see if he fits your deck is to experiment around yourself.
Is this deck still viable?
Any well known deck is viable if you know the playstyles with different matchups.
I've replaced Clockwork Gnomes with Flamecannons and 1 Annoy-o-Tron with a Clockwork Knight.
Thoughts?
not good. Youll se for yourself its not good
I don't have Dr. Boom, and I've replaced it with Mimiron's Head. How viable is it in this deck. Should I just replace it with Ragnaros, or some other card?
Edit: I've acquired Boom nvm
i don't have any legendaries but this post makes me want to dust mimiron's head and use it.
Good 'ol budget Boom...
Stormwind Champion, Piloted Sky Golem or Kel'Thuzad probably.
In lieu of a 2nd azure drake an Arcane Nullifier X-21 made a quite beefy protector for the Mechwarper as you can get it down on turn three if Mechwarper survives turn 2, I would recommend it.
I replaced loatheb dr boom and azure drakes to 2x antique healbots and 2x clockwork knights (tgt) it works like a charm
Snowchugger is important for the freeze effect (to nullify weapons etc). Micromachine is an inadequate substitution, since it is easily killed on the turn it is put out.
Hey I was just curious if you can sub out Dr.Boom for something.
Dr. Boom is quite a key component in this deck. Assuming each Boom Bot does 1 battlecry damage, you're getting 11 damage for 7 mana. Additionally, both boom bots are mechs which synergize well with Cogmaster and Tinkertown Technician.
You can try swapping Dr Boom for Ragnaros the Firelord for a guaranteed 8 damage to enemy or a Sludge Belcher for added stickiness. However do note that these aren't the most optimal choices for an aggro deck.
Sure, you can sub it for a War Golem and 2 Wisps.
I have Dr. Boom, but still I decided to substitude him for Archmage Antonidas because of the spare parts you get the whole game. I think that he is better solution for the last hits as Dr. Boom
Mech mage is not hard to counter, really, if you know what you're doing. The reason simple decks like this and face hunter even fit in is that they can manage a 50% or greater win-rate, while keeping games short, making them excel at climbing the ladder.
Mech mage, however, does not take a great amount of skill to play, I agree. Nor does face hunter for that matter, but neither of them are unfair. Currently, the deck with the highest overall win-rate is Midrange Hunter. Players are rewarded for playing more complected decks, sometimes by winning more, but often just for the sake of having fun.
So as for countering Mech Mage: Use things like Deathlord, which considerably slows the mech beat down. I found playing Mill Rogue that Mech Mage is one of my best matchups.
In conclusion, yes, mech mage is an easy deck to play, but that does not make it a bad part of the meta. It's just something you have to be expecting.
Also, Mechwarper is not the star of this deck, Goblin Blastmage is. The deck has no problem starting aggressively w/o Mechwarper, but always struggles to keep pressure during mid game. Blastmage fixes the board state turn four.
