So the gameplan is pretty simple:

  1. Curve the fuck out.
  2. Perfect turn 1-3:
    1. Kindling Elemental
    2. Arid Stormer
    3. Earthen Might/Whack-A-Gnoll (buffing Arid Stormer)/Rockbiter, swing face for maximum damage
  3. Granite Forgeborn turn 4.
  4. Arid Stormer for early tempo, always buff and swing face if this card survives it's first turn.
  5. Servant of Kalimos, Marshspawn for reload
  6. Lilypad Lurker, Weapons, Arid Stormer, Walking Fountain, Tidal Wave, and Eye of the Storm as our methods of controlling the board and protecting our boys.

Okay so skip to the bottom for a TLDR, I'm just going to ramble about deck stuff here.

This deck curves out well, like really well. As I'm writing this I'm sitting around a 72% win rate with 50 games (36 wins and 14 losses). I like the options I have and often it feels like this deck quickly spirals out of control if not answered early.

So obviously a large portion of early tempo comes from setting up our next turn with an elemental or spell the turn prior. This means you want to aggressively mulligan for a 1 or 2 drop card. In my honest opinion, I like to be greedy and force some pressure early with coin early, so I'll often aim for some janky shenanigans with Kindling Elemental turn 1, coin turn 2 into 3 mana 4/4 in the form of Granite Forgeborn. In a perfect world, you can play a subsequent Granite Forgeborn the following turn for even more pressure. I've had these fellows Prep+Vanished back into my hand...but we all make mistakes at times.

Why only (1)Primordial Protector? Can I cut this package?

Other fun interactions, Primordial Protector is a bit of a "high roller" for us. I previously had two, and two copies of Eye of the Storm to compliment it... but after watching that version of this deck fail immediately, I turned to this. (1) Primordial Protector, maybe (2) copies but personally feels too slow if it isn't discounted early. (1) Tidal Wave and (1) Eye of the Storm, because in the perfect world you'll be hitting the Eye of the Storm with your Primordial Protector. Good rolls include Kalecgos, because you can instantly play the copy of Eye of the Storm if necessary. Don't underlook drawing Tidal Wave as a backup though, as there are plenty of 8 mana drops that stand out as well.

I want to stress that yes, you do not have to run these 3 cards, and in fact I encourage you to replace them and make this deck slightly your own if you find them inconsistent. But I like the survival they offer me, and high rolls make me feel like skipping out on my anti-depressants.

No Kalimos?

I don't include Kalimos, but he's a friendly face that I almost always take during discoveries. If he were slotted in, replace your (1) Fire Elemental with him. My silly reason for not including this card is just that I feel as though his undiscounted price is too high for what I get from the Primodial Protector package, but hey personal preference keeps us all special.

TLDR: Curve Curve Curve Curve, play elementals and enjoy synergies, use spells to buff up Wailing Elemental/Arid Stormer for early damage, or to reload hand, and then play for board and tempo.  (note: Face is sometimes always the place versus combo decks.)

Mulligan: Wailing Elemental, Kindling Elemental, Cagematch Custodian, Arid Stormer, Granite Forgeborn, and Tar Creeper are all safe keeps. Again, aim to curve out well and include actual elemental creatures in your starting hand as opposed to too many spells.

Tech Slots: Living Dragonbreath (though freeze is popular right now), Elemental Reaction, (1) Marshspawn, Primordial Protector Package.

I'll try to add a video to this guide eventually, but I'm not sure if I can edit this post afterwards haha.

Anyways thanks for reading, I've always loved the elemental tribe and their synergies since Un'goro. Leave me some suggestions or questions down below and I'd be happy to talk about my deck.
