Keep alive with discovery and spell discounts, grinding the opponent away until turn 6 or 7 where the deck turns on. A sudden stampede of huge deathrattle minions that heal you, give you armor, or make more taunt. Your opponent is going to have a tough time as you can respawn them with N'zoth or any amulets youve built up or discovered. Its a fun deck that relies heavily on skill and making the right calls with your spells. Enjoy!Update!-2 Pandarian Explorer, +1 Ysera, +1 Nameless OneThe deck feels much better when your only insight pulls are good value :).This is my 17th or so iteration of this deck and it is the most successful so far. Plan your turns careful, stockpile the right spells for the right matchups, and play greedy my friends!
Eternal Shadow Update!
With the current meta feeling like either raw agro or hard value I decided to incorporate a more aggressive minion based package, and it feels VERY good. Thanks for all the tips, I took some time to play test and came up with what I felt to be the optimum version of this Res Priest.
Removals:
Shard of Naaru
Renew
Thrive in the Shadows
Venomous Scorpid
Holy Nova
Hysteria
The Nameless One
Void Shard
Xyrella
Ysera
Scrapyard
Additions:
Guardian Augmerchant
Reliquary of Souls
Defias Leper
Pandarian Importer
Darkmoon Dirigible
Auspicious Spirits
Circus Amalgam
Dark Inquisitor Xanesh
Darkbishop Benedictus
Fleethood Pearltusk
Soul Mirror
Y'Shaarj, the Defiler
Have Fun and Enjoy! :)
Looks interesting, going to have to give it a try. I am thinking about dropping colossus for circus amalgam, for early taunt that buffs n'zoth. Although on the other hand, the deck seems heavy on 4 drops already, so perhaps not.
I have some ideas for changes that work with N'zoth. Thanks for the input
I've been playing a Shadow variant of this list (with Raise Deads, Wandmakers and Pandaren Exporters) so naturally my deck looks different from yours, but I've had fair success with Goldshire Gnolls. It's easy to get them discounted with the amount of spell generation + Raise Dead, they seem to tilt pirate warrior matchup in my favor quite nicely.
I'm pointing this out because Scrapyards seem excessively greedy (Lightshowers are plenty enough) and they overlap with N'Zoth.
Thanks for the note, I'm testing a few things after taking a look at less greedy versions... Fun Update coming soon.
Hey, just wanted to post here and say thanks for this idea! I'm glad people haven't given up on priest. I'm hoping the unnerf to Renew and the nerfs to other decks might help make priest more competitive again, soon.
I built my own "res priest" based off your initial design, but I did it a bit differently. I went with a quest priest shell.
But the idea is similar, to use the new DR resurrect spell to keep big, healthy taunts (with healing and armour) on the board. I think the quest goes well with it because you can keep yourself alive with the minions while moving towards a win con. And I like that the quest rewards at stage 1 and 2 also help you pull from your deck.
Haven't played a ton of games with it yet, but so far its had pretty good results. And for some reason I seem to keep queuing into Demon Hunters playing the new Proving Grounds deck... which... unfortunately for them, is not a great deck to beat this.
Anyway, cheers!
Renew buff will be huge! Probably a nerf to the quest shell though, but I'm excited for 1 mana discover heal again.
Crap deck
It requires a lot of player skill to pilot :). Sorry about that.
Quest pirate warrior I’m struggling to defeat with this
Yeah, it's a really tough matchup. You can't be as greedy with your res spells and you have to pull a lot of healing. and you really rely on getting big minions out fast with insight. But generally, Juggernaut will always have better value than anything you can generate non-quest. Quests are built to just win after complete, unfortunately.
I've been testing few versions of Rez Priest, or Nzoth Rez since Mini Set. None of those versions were good enough.
It's not the best win rate, but I feel like generally its the best control option we have for priest right now. Though I've sat at 45-50% win rate with it, so it's def not the best out there. I've just been happy to have that control grindy deck that's felt irrelevant for so long achieve even a 40% wr haha.
It relies A LOT on mulligan, but overall it's fun to play with.
100% The mulligan will win or lose you games. You have to play it just right, had a disguise rogue that fucked me for that very reason lol. Mulled for a priest matchup and was SLAMMED early. This deck relies on your experience with control and priest mechanics quite heavily.
Thoughts on pulling out scorpid and importer? Feels pretty bad if you pull these with insight :/
Scorpid is great at a 1 mana pull tbh, it helps you get a lot more amulets later. And Scorpid becomes your beast pull with N'zoth. Late you pull One of your Eles, a Mo'arg, and then a poison boi that helps you break through big guys later. Its a minor synergy, but overall it increases the power level of the deck. I agree Importer felt really bad though.
Could you explain why you left Soul Mirror out?
Sure! So with this deck you are trying to build a very specific deathrattle and N'zoth pool to pull from late game. So Soul Mirror tends to be self destructive in a lot of situations, You can clear most boards with the spells already in deck, or with just board greed in general. Or if you need it, you can discover as well. But thats my reasoning. And your curve is high enough as it is with the thicc top end, you dont need fat spells too. :)
