Hey there,

it's day 4 postpatch and this is an update for my recently posted Tempo Warrior list.

Quest Mage is still the most popular archetype at almost all rank brackets. Only in top legend, Garrote Rogue and Quest Lifesteal Demon Hunter are slightly more popular followed by Big/Pirate Warrior.

Therefore, after looking at some stats, I made couple changes to the list and I have to say it targets the meta quite well.

Alright, so what are the changes?

First of all, Conditioning didn't perform so well. The deck tries to curve out and there is not enough card draw for the card being impactful enough. Without that buff also it isn't worth running Encumbered Pack Mule anymore. Ogremancer often felt like overkill so this card had to go as well. Instead I added a second copy of Mor'shan Elite and Moonfang. This allows for quite powerful turns in the midgame.

I also added Warsong Envoy and Cruel Taskmaster for better tempo in the early game.

Note: Cruel Taskmaster has 3 purposes in the deck.

  1. Sometimes you need the card as removal tool on turn 2 already.
  2. More often though (and preferably) you want to buff your own minions. (Especially Warmaul Challenger can be kept more aggressively in the mulligan now considering that you can just play it on 3 (even on an empty board) to then buff it the turn after. Often that's the best play.
  3. Ping your own Blademaster Samuro and your opponents board is probably gone.

The following explanation how to play the deck is a corrected copy from the previous version:

This Tempo Warrior not only runs Robes of Protection, but also Crossroads Watch Post. This package completely flips around some bad matchups and gives more than decent winning chances.

You need to be aware though, running that anti spell tech makes it slightly worse against aggro decks. You still don't want to queue into control decks or Questrogue, even though the updated list offers a bit more survivability now.

Mulligan:

In general you can always look for your best opener which would be Warsong Envoy or Imprisoned Gan'arg when on the play.

When going second you might want to coin Bonechewer Brawler into Guardian Augmerchant instead. Just going for a 1-drop and coining a 3, 4 or 5 drop in the progress is also strong, depends on matchup and your opening Hand. In general you want to look for the best tempoplay considering what answers your opponent might have. However there is some matchups where you should deviate a bit:

Against Mages you hard mulligan for Robes of Protection and Crossroads Watch Post.

Against Rogues and Demon Hunters you are looking for Far Watch Post, you would even coin it out if possible.

Against aggressive decks like Facehunter or Taunt Druid you want a good early curve and removal. Imprisoned Gan'arg, Warsong Envoy, Warmaul Challenger, Guardian Augmerchant and sometimes Stage Dive (there is 3 rush minions only in the deck, so chances pulling a Blademaster Samuro are high) are the cards you are looking for.

Midgame:

After the mulligan you want to play for Tempo and put your minions in play. Sometimes it can even be good to tempo out a Blademaster Samuro, if there is nothing better to do. Be aware, you don't have much card draw, so you are all-in rather quick. Therefore you want to hit Face whenever possible. Though, especially in the early game you should be looking for good valuetrades instead. That way you protect your board and can deal more damage the turns after.

Cheers and Enjoy!
