Day[9]'s Control Mage featuring Echo of Medivh.
Control the board until late game when you can play many giants (using Echo of Medivh, you can often play many Molten Giants for 0 mana in one turn). Alexstrasza often wins games because you usually have at least 2 giants on the board for lethal damage.
Check out Day[9]'s YouTube channel for this deck's construction, iteration and more play vids.
Freeze Mage is stronger than this deck even in the current meta. The frostbolt/ice lance/fireball combos after alexstraza are a lot more reliable than the echo'd giants. You need to be at 10hp or lower for the giants version while with freeze mage you can pull off the combo any time you have the cards for it.
Tell that to Loatheb :P
Mountain giants haven't been too helpful. What could I replace them with?
I have to agree here. Otherwise this deck tries to be handlock wihtout Life Tap. I would say any value high drop like Cairne, Sneeds old Shredder and the like would replace the Mountain Giants. I would actually use the a spot for a Silence, since they are great in general. I personally find playing 2 acolyte and 2 intellect a bit too much, so i swapped out an acolyte for a Spellbreaker. A second Water Elemental works too, to make your earlygame a litte better.
tl;dr, replace it with something that has value with duplicate/echo and is a midgame drop (since the mountains will be 4 to 6 mana usaully) like Water Elemental or Ironbeak Owl.
Yup
Is the youtube video not related to the deck?
I ask since his opening hand has Unstable Portal which is not in the decklist above.
That was my bad, he hasn't uploaded a YouTube yet (duh) because it was just recorded today. I'll update it when the decktacular comes out on YouTube.
should call it Day [ J ] Vu
