I played when the game launched, retired in 2016, came back this past February and I could always get to Diamond 1 but never managed to get Legend UNTIL NOW and thankfully it's from playing a deck that I enjoy and not some obnoxious face deck!!!
There's a very similar deck posted but my iteration removed the Catacomb Guards because, in my experience, they were the most useless cards in the deck. It has 2 Animated Broomsticks so that you have a better chance at popping your shields immediately. It has 2 Battleground Battlemasters to double your chances at getting your win condition and it's also a beefy minion if they get buffed. I took out one copy of the Encumbered Pack Mule because Cornelius Roame tended to draw both and make me burn cards. I also don't have Moonfang so I replaced it with a Goody Two-Shields and it seemed to work out fine because it's another low-cost minion with divine shield synergy.
It's still tough to beat Quest Warlock and Quest Mage. I've done it but I was either lucky or they made mistakes. For Warlock, you have to keep going face using their self-damage to your advantage and by the time they play Blightborn Tamsin, they're almost dead. Mage is very tough. I think you have to draw well and they have to draw badly. If you can keep playing on curve and manage to put out your biggest minions on turn 2, 3, 4, 5, and they aren't removing them well, then it ends very quickly.
what do you recommend for the place of cornelius? I dont have that card :/
Good question. Card draw is kind of a problem with this deck. People have replaced him with Mutanus the Devourer in hopes of eating the quest reward but that's really unlikely because he's a 7-cost and the opponent usually plays their reward on turn 5. I think I would put in a Hammer of the Naaru so you have another beefy minion to put out on turn 6 and you get value from the weapon. However, card draw is still going to be your problem. Or maybe a 2nd copy of Goody Two-Shields will help you apply pressure faster.
I just beat a quest mage where I had Cornelius Roame as a 6/7 and one other 6-attack minion next to him. I almost over-drew but the 10th card in my hand was a Battleground Battlemaster and I had both Convictions. This was like turn 9 so I slammed both Convictions, then the battlemaster in between them, and I hit the mage for 36 when they were at like 26 health and they had just played Arcanist Dawngrasp. Cornelius can save your life.
