So all those self mill cards seem like the finally found a home thanks to the upcoming warlock quest. Draw your deck until you hit fatigue, and the opponent dies instead. Seems fair.
Will tweak as more cards are revealed.
i have had the best luck with tis questlock deck so far.
To clear up some points:
Neeru Fireblade - He's just bad, trust me, when you're already in fatigue, you won't have the time to spend 5 mana to summon a bunch of imps, you'll be spending it on removal to not die and draw to kill your opponent faster.
Altar of Fire - It's probably not great, but my thinking is: You really just want to empty your deck, it doesn't matter too much how, and the only "combo piece" in this deck is the questline, which starts in your hand, so you can afford to mill pretty much anything else. On top of thinning your deck it can also disrupt combo decks, and since our "combo" requires us to empty our deck, we may very well be slower than other combo decks that don't need to reach fatigue to win.
It's a card that may be taken out once more cards are revealed, if no new combo decks are around, for example, but I wanted to include the one copy as a sort of proof of concept, that it's a card that could actually be good in a deck like this, since its effect is pretty one sided for this deck.
Soul fragments: We just want to survive, healing helps with that, yes it slows the mill down slightly, but surviving is more important, and Soulciologist can win games on her own.
Neeru is playable, for me. I mean, you shouldn't care about fatique, bec you're immune to it in your turn, bec. of the quest reward of the Questline
First of all, neeru is not playable, lol, maybe at lower ranks but he's really bad. Secondly you're not immune to fatigue damage, very VERY specifically, your opponent takes it instead of you, which is the primary win condition of the deck, to force your opponent to take YOUR fatigue damage, which will kill them both more reliably, and much faster than neeru.
Haven't logged in to this site for years just to make a comment here. Neeru is NOT trash. Just because you haven't figured out how to use him yet, do not say things to discourage creativity, or speak factual, when in fact it is not fact.
I'm legend player and Warlock is my main. I use him in the delete deck now and my WR is absurdly high with him in the deck. There WILL be other decks where he is a beast of a card. Mean no disrespect here, just don't like it when people try to spew opinion over fact. Nice idea you have here at any rate. Wish you fortunes in the future!
You can put bad cards in a good deck and still get a high winrate. You can also have a lucky streak with bad decks. You can ALSO play bad cards at opportune times and make better use of them. None of these things suddenly make the card good. neeru is bad, plain and simple. Downvote me if it makes you feel better, but I don't know why you're being defensive about it, playing bad cards doesn't make you a bad player, and if you're able to use them effectively then it says more about your skill as a player, but the FACT remains, neeru ain't good. He has a 46% played winrate in wild across all ranks, and that winrate only drops when you start narrowing it down to just the higher ranks (it's only 42% when only considering gold for example). That winrate goes up by about 1% across the board for standard but still never exceed 48% which not only makes him, statistically, bad, but also supports my statement that he is better at lower ranks.
May as well put Neeru Fireblade in there, right?
Im not sure about that. Your wincon is questline + fatigue damage, so Neeru feels like a win-more card that doesnt help you until your deck is empty.
About the deck: Altar of Fire is just a bad card even in its own archetype. Its 1 mana "do nothing", its horrible against aggro and you win against control anyways. If your goal is reaching fatigue asap then putting soul fragments in it is an anti-combo. I suggest adding Armor Vendor (having armor doesnt prevent damage technically so you can progress your quest) and Spice Bread Baker. Flightmaster Dungar could be also an option for healing.
You make some good points, but I still think Neeru could be useful. Since you're letting fatigue damage kill your opponent, you still need to survive until it happens. Having a board full of 3/2s every turn can help you at least trade down any minions they put on the board.
Also, I often see people using Altar of Fire after they burn their deck just to mill the opponent's cards. Can help reduce the chances they find an an answer to win.
I do agree that the soul fragment package could be swapped for other things, though. Since, as you said, your goal is to reduce your deck, and stuff like Soul Rend can hit your shards, which effectively slows down your progression to getting to the bottom of your deck.
Im still sceptical about Neeru (you will always burn it anyways XD) but maybe its worth a try.
I didnt think about that kind of use of Altar of Fire but I think its still very bad. Burning your opponents cards doesnt matter until they have a deck, so its bad against aggro and you will probably win with your main wincon against control before they empty their deck. Also if this deck will become a real thing then Altar will be your worst card in the mirror.
Another card came to my mind: uncorrupted Tickatus. I dont think its worth the cut but I thought I would mention it. Its just a proactive threat that doesnt have taunt or rush. But maybe there is a meta when it could be useful.
