Build up your power early, and lay down a MOUNTAIN of damage upon your foes. This deck just never stops going and has an amazing amount of reach, play patiently and you will be rewarded.
I can help with a mulligan guide if enough people like playing this deck. I've been loving this deck and been having a lot of success climbing with this deck.
Edit: Thanks for all the attention on this deck! I love playing Off Meta Mage decks (old big spell mage is so good<3). In celebration of front page I'm going to give a rough mulligan guide :).
When it comes to your Mulligan you generally look for 1 combo, Studies and Cram Session. Having the ability to have an early draw is huge for this deck, you have a done of options, so get them together quickly! Otherwise you want to grab up Starscryers/Firebrands and AT MOST 1 Wildfire. Basically, look for your sub 3 mana cards, not many of them will go wrong. Otherwise toss it back in deck. You are looking to be proactive at all times with this deck.
Demon Hunter Mulligan: Look for Devolving Missiles, Firebrand, and Reckless. They're going to help a lot against some of the bigger boards or sets of deathrattles that DH can send against you.
Priest Mulligan: Honestly, Wildfire and care draw are your main wants for priest. You have a lot of lee way since they're slow, so this is the one instance I would recommend two wildfires if you see it. HIghly recommend keeping a devolving missle in case it is Rally priest.
Hunter: Shooting Star, Runed Orb, Firebrand, Reckless, all of these are great to save up for hunter's boards. Just slap em with spells and restrict them early, the better you control at the start the more you're going to come back late.
Mage: Standard Mulligan, nothing special needed. Maybe look for Flightmaster in case it is spell mage so you can heal 10.
Paladin: DEVOLVING MISSLES. Otherwise the same as hunter, your early board clear options are key. Stabilizing will save you.
Rogue: For this absolutely keep Reckless, shooting star, and runed orb. 2 Damage cut off and low hp minion board counters are what you're looking for. Pretty similar mull strategy to Hunter.
Druid: Follow Hunter Mulligan in case it is token, pray to god it's not token.
Shaman: This is a 50/50 match. Devolving Missiles, Starscryer, and Firebrand are the highlights here, Early you want to control the 1/3 and 2/5 so you want ways to clear bigger health boards early. 3 is an important cutoff to remember for this matchup.
Warlock: Just like Priest, mull greedy. The greedier you can be early the better for you late, might even save Mordresh to not lose to tickatus later.
Warlock: This is tough, I would recommend the same mull strategy as Shaman. Rush Warrior is tough regardless, but that 3 hp threshhold is once again huge. trying and keep ways to clear Playmakers and the 2/3 rush buff lady (you know the one).
This deck WILL impress you, give it some games, learn the ins and outs, and you're going to have a lot of fun with this fellow mage lovers.
DECK UPDATE: -1 Shooting Star, -1 Alexstrasza. +1 Flamestrike +1 Ysera.
This change should help against the more midrange/lategame matchups by giving you some refill and better clear against those bigger boards (Fork you Rush Warrior and Ele Shaman!). The Ysera adding Nightmare and bounce is also a nice touch for some more reach later, and some more clear! I think this should help balance the deck a bit more. Feel free to hit me with any suggestions, this deck will continue to be updated if need be!~
DECK UPDATE #2: - 1 Ysera, -1 Mankirk, +1 Alex +1 Ice Barrier.
Happy Fire Festival!!! Along with this small update, shamans got a sick skin!! Which means more of our lovable agro friends. Thats what this update focuses on, saving us from the brink so we can take em out after. Get at it mages.
Four games on D10 - first one lost the next three won. Two big druid and one spell mage. Seems like it's working just fine :)
Mordresh Fire Eye won me the game every time!
Edit: Lost to deathrattle hunter due to really bad draw luck.
Glad to hear it's working for you!
Fun deck. Doesn't work above D10 though against all the other Mages, Rogues, and Shamans.
I have a great track record against all but Shaman and Face Hunter. You've just got to learn how to deck plays. Takes time to learn the harder matchups like agro/combo decks.
very fun deck! Thanks for posting. I’ve tinkered many times with hero power mage and it never worked out… not sure why this one works but it does!
Glad to hear you've been enjoying it :). I've put tons and tons of hours into making this deck, so it's been worked on for a while.
I actually prefer the original version you did with 1 flame, mankirk and shooting star
that shooting star comes in handy for aggro decks where as two flame strikes always have me drawing both in my opening hand hah
fun none the less! So much damage
Thanks for the reply! I had just been facing a ton of psuedo-mid range agro recently and 5 damage to all is just enough to clear their best boards. So its nice having both. Ill try out the version with -1 Flamestrike and +1 shooting star though and if it works better ill swap it back :).
Maybe you’re right the second flame is always useful but we don’t have that much spell damage to take advantage
flamewalker and reckless can kill the small stuff
Hey! So when it comes to other Argo decks that utilize weapons, you will have a hard time. You could tech oozes in, but honestly the deck is really tight and can’t spare a slot. I would recommend turning the jets on and either going full burn if you have board, or control for late with ysera and heal with flight if you can.
tyvm . gonna try and do my best :D thx tho
Well the deck name contains that minion, but I wanna give it a chance. Do you see any replace for Mordresh? How often do you use it? How often do you need it?
Mordresh already saved me several times from losing ! its really nice when u have RNG in ur side to get Wildfire 2x and ur HP does 3 dmg .
my Question is : got really hard time against paladin . he overwhelms me with his weapons
Best regards Chris
Mordresh is the entire reason for the wildfire\Reckless apprentices in the deck. The center theme is to burn the enemy and finish with Mordresh. Unfortunately, he is irreplaceable in the deck and without him it doesn’t make sense to play it.
i really like the deck . just had 4 astromancers xD love it
So glad to hear that! I had one of those games yesterday, hilarious!
This deck is only about 45-50%WR for me… but I wouldn’t say I’ve really mastered it. Definitely need a good mulligan. I like a more minion based deck like this one. I’ve avoided her because the most recent decks have all relied on lucky-a$$ luck and that feels silly to me.
In paper this deck doesn't look like it can compete with the tier 1's out there. But honestly it has a fighting chance against all of them. Don't get me wrong, this deck isn't tier 1. It is very fun to play though.
RIght? It doesn't look like much but it really ends up taking down a lot of the bigger decks. Especially Priest, it dominates them.
Yeah that was an oopsie :). In a previous version I had Aegwynn, I forgot to update it. Description updated now with less flowery text lol.
