Greetings, Friends.

It's GayPirate, back with another Control Shaman decklist - this time for the post-Caverns meta. For those of you who don't know, I am a Shaman enthusiast and deckbuilder. Control Shaman has been my favourite archetype for almost 2 years now, and I love adapting my card choices based on each meta. Since Token Druid and Elemental Shaman are the most powerful archetypes in the format, I developed and refined this list in order to combat them. I've had great success with this deck in top 1000 legend, peaking at 120. Below is my winrate for the penultimate version of the deck:

Mulligan:

General: Your mulligans are generally your small minions: WandmakerArchdruid NaralexVenomous ScorpidTidal Surge in aggro matchups. I also like Serpentshrine Portal if I have other early game as well, but be sure to plan out your turns early as to not get destroyed by overloading on key turns.

EDIT: I added Flightmaster Dungar instead of Shattered Rumbler and it has been extremely successful so far.

Specific: Against aggro: Perpetual Flame single handedly defeats token druid, so I would consider hard mulliganing for it. If you have it in hand already, Diligent Notetaker is a good card to give you multiple clears on their minions. Shattered Rumbler is fine against aggro if you also have Lightning Bloom and a spell that you can cast on turn 3. The Lurker Below can be kept with bloom against token druid as well, it's a great answer to glowfly+power of the wild.

Against control: You should consider keeping Primal Dungeoneer alongside your early generation. Trying to find transform effects, especially against priest, is a really good way to beat them. I like keeping Mutanus the Devourer as well. In control matchups, your aggression is not nearly as intimidating, which is when you'll have to rely on "The combo".

The combo: Al'Akir the Windlord with Nightmare paired with a Diligent Notetaker, or 2 with a Lightning Bloom for a maximum of 30 damage.

Matchups:

Shaman: Elemental Shamans are very easy to beat; your tempo tools can match theirs (Serpentshrine Portal, Venomous Scorpid and Wandmaker can contest board in the early game, with Marshspawn and Primal Dungeoneer for refill). You are essentially a greedier version of their deck, so you are very easily favoured.

Doom Shaman: This matchup is very very tough. Pray they don't draw weapon and try to put the pressure on them. If you are facing a lot of these, I would add an Acidic Swamp Ooze for Perpetual Flame. Unfavoured.

Mage: use your early minions to chip as much damage as possible in the early game, use them to soak up Mask of C'Thun damage and force their burn on your minions. Use part of the combo for lethal. Slightly unfavoured.

Rogue: Weapon rogues are one of the "race" matchups. Try to generate enough board presence that they cannot ignore your minions, and if they do, reach turn 8 and tidal wave up to full. Miracle rogue is dependent on discounts and burst, along with tempo. Therefore, try to remove their tempo and develop your own, and try to force their burn on your minions. Last ditch effort: eat a key minion in hand. Even/Slightly unfavoured.

Priest: Full 30 damage combo needed. Dodge Illucia. Try to transform/eat their key minions, muddy their raise dead pool, and focus on generating these transform effects. Transforming Miracle priest minions is just brutal. Even.

Warrior: Try to keep their boards in check and try to generate tools to run them out of resources. Plan removal turns in advance. Slightly favoured.

Hunter: Look for life gain effects and tempo/removal tools. Lightning Bloom and Tidal Wave are a match made in heaven. Even.

Demon Hunter: I have only won 1 game against Demon Hunter as Control Shaman; you are completely outclassed (pun intended). DRDH falls prey to Perpetual Flame, but the stars need to align for you to beat three Illidari Inquisitor. OTK DH is also near unwinnable if you don't munch their Il'gynoth. Very unfavoured.

Druid: Token Druid just folds to this deck. You have so much removal that you'll be sure to hit or generate one by turn 5. Don't be afraid to use Diligent Notetaker with your removal/tempo generation if you lack board presence. Extremely favoured.

Other druids: Clown Druid is an extremely rough matchup. Celestial Druid is fine to play against if you can develop board early.

Control Warlock: Dodge Mutanus the Devourer. Dodge Lord Jaraxxus. Dodge Tickatus. I only played against 2 Warlocks, but my God the matchup is rough. Jaraxxus is unbeatable and Mutanus is a threat if you have your combo in hand. Try to draw as quickly as possible to assemble the pieces. Very unfavoured.
