Edit:
The deck is having quite a lot of success, here and in the competitiveHS subreddit!
Some people are also experiencing very bad loss streaks, so instead of telling them to git gud, I decided to record some random matchups. I'd like to do some more (maybe against pala, mage and lock) with live commentary, check video info for further informations.
Why you should play the deck:
Take a moment to also appreciate the nice curve coin Fel Lord into double corrupted Tickatus.
About me:
I'm Italian, I play since beta and got to legend pretty every month with offmeta decks (reno priest with double shadowform, very hybrid hunter, miracle shaman etc) and won some local tournaments (I actually won a bo3 final with a Moorabi keleseth spell shaman).
If you know Chump or do you like to brainstorm troll decks feel free to add me in game. (IGN: Vigormortis#2439)
The Deck:
Shootout to my multiple-legend friend Froppino which helped me build the deck, his ability to find niche spots for fun decks like this when the meta is so stale still amazes me after years <3
TL:DR; Look for mana scam, duplicate your shit, GG
This deck is 10/10 fun. The most retarded factor in this deck is the mana cheat with The Dark Portal and Free Admission, IE you are able to play Ring Matron on turn 3 consistently, or multiple fat demons by turn 5 (personal record: played 3 corrupted 9-9 Tickatus by turn 5) with Felosophy.
The deck performs well against aggro, Man'ari Mosher is an awesome healing tool. You can combo it with Enslaved Fel Lord's cleave for juicy 21 hp heal or with cheaper minions on the board in faster matchups (the underrated Imp Swarm and Ring Matron bois will help do the job).
Yes, you winally found a deck where Archwitch Willow (as your only non-demon minion) is beyond amazing.
Matchups from Dsomething to Legend:
Legend proof is recorded on video, will upload the gameplay after +10 upvotes
I've see improvement in paladin/warlock matchups with -1 Twisting Nether -1 Hellfire/School Spirits for +1 Unstable Felbolt +1 Cascading Disaster, those with Mortal Coil are very flexible spots.
Mulligan:
Now it's even being tracked by HSreplay.net.
Idk why is people keeping Felbolt. 2% is actually keeping 7+ demons, even more Rustwix o.O
Baseline it's hard toss for Dem Studies and Free Adm.
Dark Portal is 90% keep, ofc always on coin. Felosophy is keepable with portal, very strong with coin. You can think about tossing portal against hyper aggro if you already have a Free Admission and any 1-2 mana spell.
Keepable (it's kinda always worth to look just for mana scam, I usually keep only if I already have at least one of the above):
Mosher or Drain Soul against aggro if on coin;
Hysteria vs paladin;
MC if deck has t1 1-1 plays;
Imps vs druid;
Imp Swarm if already have studies and Free Adm is usually nuts; In slow matchups lways keep a t2 play with coin and Admission, as you can't tap on t2 without overdrawing.
Keeping Tickatus/Willow/Jaraxxus against warlock and priest I don't think is a mistake but you are cutting your chances for a funnier game for sure.
Deck difficulty: 7/10.
Most turns seem pretty straightforward but 2 to 3 turn of planning ahead truly makes the difference.
It's also the reason why people are having bad results with this deck on lower ranks, and no less than 50% in high legend.
Let me know how this works out for you in the comments below.
Accidentally played this on wild from bronze to silver2, was quite alright. Then I switched to standard and I am still stuck in bronze now :/ lol
The games that this deck wins are only those in the video
The deck is bad. Easily overrun, easily overvalued. [card]The Dark Portal[/card] often times pull a low cost minion than not. [card]Free Admission [/card] often times pull a non-demon. Archwitch Willow can't guarantee you two taunt minions let alone two high cost minions. Lord Jaraxxus is there I guess to taunt you as you will never find time or health to play it.
I am sorry but I don't like playing a deck and solely relying on Man'ari Mosher hitting a good target to win. Yes, games often times come to this as your taunts will not stop direct damage.
went undefeated d10 to d5 with this, and had a great time in the process. a secret rouge finally snapped my streak, oh well
I've played a lot of big demon warlock and I cannot recommend this type of deck in this meta. It just isn't consistent enough to be viable.
Is Lord Jaraxxus really worth the mana without the hero power and healing?
It's a fun deck, but too inconsistent to beat the early aggro decks in the ladder. Off-meta for sure, but definitely not meta breaking. Would not call 42% win rate being a success as well, so you might want to change that. Other than that, if you have the cards, try it out, Nothing more fun than milling 15 cards of your opponent for 3 mana.
I found it no worse than normal c warlock. I even find it stronger vs rogue (usually not secret sap version) and hunter especially. My suggestions would be to play this deck more as midrange than control, try to count the opp's board dmg 2 turn ahead, and be sure of your general gameplan! Your wr will surely get better!
I really enjoy this deck mate. Well thought and you can adapt to different opponents. 10/10 a fun deck. Especially for main warlock player as me.
Thank you mate, I really appreciate the feedback!
The real question is this; On the off-chance that you pull Willow on Turn 4 with The Dark Portal (that's < 1/11 chance - actually not bad!) if you're not below 8 cards in hand because you've had to spaff your early game control on the agro deck you're probably playing against, what're the chances that if you have the tempo to play her on Turn 5 that she doesn't pull Tickatus and Man'ari Mosher instead of those nice big taunts that are sat in your deck/hand being sad?
I actually don't know the stats but please feel free to work 'em out and post them below. What I do know is that I am infinitely unlucky with Archwitch Willow and, after substituting her - and the 2 Man'ari Mosher - with an extra Cascading Disaster and 2 School Spirits a few things have happened for me:
Honestly, if you guys are getting good results with this deck then fair play - you do you - I clearly just don't have RNGesus on my side.
Also FYI, I'm not trying to be an asshole - I crafted Willow by accident and really enjoy playing decks that she fits into well. I just feel that in this case she is such a detriment to the discount chances and the Tickatus swing n' a miss?
I'd love to maybe see a variation with Backfire instead of FA, perhaps with a non-demon healing method and more Soul Shards?
Genuinely think yours is a great concept for a deck and it certainly seems to be working for some, and that's a good job well done.
Thank you for the reply and appreciation! :)
Regarding my personal experience, I lost a to a mana-cheated Willow only once (double Fel Lord against opp's Hysteria). Cheating her is just raw stats on the board for just 3 mana!
(To answer you: Yes it feels bad but it's still 2gud)
Your best play against aggro imho is Free Admission, rather than Portal. I usually toss it vs ie. Hunter if I'm not on coin.
Regarding Free Admission, you should fail it never more than 1 in 4. When it fails, it still draws your (most likely) best t8 play.
Mosher is way too good to be cut imo, and it will get those stats worse!
My thinking process against aggro is:
Do I have adm/portal in hand?
-> No, then FIRST I try to maximize my chance to get some, THEN clearing board
-> Yes, then ask yourself if matchup allows you to play that. IE vs paladin, with double 1-4 windfury murloc on the board, do we play Admission or early hysteria? Aside other common thinking processes (does he have blessing? no +2+2 kinda surely), it's admission if you are sure you can cast a t4 demon the turn after (Matrons still in deck, or already played a dem studies) or hysteria in almost all other cases!
This deck as some serious RNG involved so you won't never have a 100% winratio, the thing you should do is just to maximize your winning chance. I usually reroll for mana scams even on hardest matchups (not even keeping Drain Soul vs hunter) and play to maximize MY PLANS, rather than just "not die".
I think backfire is unplayable without fragments in the current meta, and fragments need non-demons. Portal is shit in that archetype imo, and you don't have acually big midrange threats (Jaraxxus fits a kinda different gameplan, giants are not enough vs control, you don't run enough support for tickatus). I tried a faster version of the deck, but it's so far behind slower matchups! Maybe I'll try again in the future :)
This deck is nuts , didn't see it being so op lol
garbage
Really loving the deck and finally able to put Willow to good use! Just had a game playing 3 one mana tickatus's after pulling it out with the dark portal followed up double felosophy.
I played 5 games with this and lost all of them :( I know 5 games are nothing but really lost the will to try more. It might be that I don't know how to pilot this deck yet. I would really love these decks to be a thing but in every single match I felt the lack of centain things like early board clear spells such as School Spirits againt Paladin that led to an overwhelming board. I'm not trashing this deck I think it is an awsome concept just don't think it can keep up with this aggresive meta.
Crafted tickatus for this deck, now I'm hoping he gets the nerf stick xD
Very bad deck but kinda fun. Some rates are not the same, so the matchmaking isn't the same too, that's why i can say that this deck has at least 50% winrate, specially now that many people know the list already.
fun deck! had decent success in high legend.
Thank you for the feedback!
