This deck is fun, because you win. Use everything for face, always. You should mulligan everything away for a Primordial Studies , Cagematch Custodian and Lightning Bloom start. Very self explanatory. Taelan Fordring inclusion is for consistent strong minion draw. Doomhammer every turn!! Use your health as a resource. Crush your enemies. Enjoy.
Adaptations: Play OTK versus Priest. For example - Primordial Studies to discover Imprisoned Phoenix or Steward of Scrolls to discover Lightning Bolt 's. Additionally, hold onto Diligent Notetaker and Lightning Bloom in hand for your burst turn when Imprisoned Phoenix wakes up and you summon the almighty Bru'kan !
4/23 update: Currently 18-6 (75% winrate). Difficult match ups seem to be priest and sometimes hunter. Looking for potential replacements for Dunk Tank , as it seems to be the only awkward card to use in the deck.
4/30 update: Currently 26-11 (70% winrate). JUST HIT LEGEND w/ this deck!! Legend
Hi there- I've also been playing an aggro/doomhammer shaman list lately and I'm enjoying it quite a lot. Our lists are only different by 4 cards:
-2 Lightning Bloom +2 Wandmaker for more quality value (inc. potentially more bolts or missiles) and no extreme overload. Lightning bloom seems to only be good when you have a solid hand of damage and you're ready to go all in or to bloom our hammer (then lose your next turn).
-1 Torrent +1 Maiev Shadowsong I thought 1 Torrent was probably enough to combat big minions or taunts, but maybe 2x is the better play but Maiev is pretty good against divine shield and/or deathrattle minions or other taunts in the way and has no spell requirement. I'm the least sure about this inclusion.
-1 Diligent Notetaker +1 Lady Vashj because I figured getting one good repeat off of a rockbiter or stormstrike or lightning bolt is probably enough extra damage to seal the deal. Taelan Fordring also nets us Vashj Prime who is badass and can deliver burst damage akin to Bru'kan or collect cheap spells to burst with Bru'kan if it's not enough on the spot.
What are your thoughts?
Hi there GamerPanda! Sorry for the late response.
I believe your additions can be very valuable in this Paladin only meta. The only change I would shy away from would be the removal of a diligent notetaker. I believe that card alone is the reason to build decks like these. With that being said, Vashj Prime is extremely powerful if we can get it by turn 7! I would be interested in testing your edits, as I have not been as successful with this list as I did previously.
Check out my new control deck for the wailing caverns too, I would be curious on your thoughts there!
Oh hi, thanks for replying. While I really enjoy this type of deck I'm definitely more invested in Elemental Shaman now with the mini set i think it's pretty fun and could be strong as well.
How do you make it work without devolving missiles? Don't you ever run into big taunts?
Not many big taunts, but rather big windfury murlocs from the paladins... Typically you want to clear these key minions passively with your 1 mana torrents or the initial damage from stormstrikes. It can definitely be difficult if you have poor draw against something like clown druid.
Good luck laddering and let me know what you think could improve!
loses to paladin but other than that pretty fine deck
Yes, I am roughly 50/50 with paladins, depending on my draw. Most decks seem to have this problem. Any suggestions on paladin matchup specifically?
I ran a doomhammer shaman deck very similar right before the rotation and I was sad to see a lot of those key cards rotate. I had been experimenting to try and create a list that worked since I had a lot of fun with it last expansion. However, this one is much better than what I came up with. You have my upvote.
Yes doomhammer is the bread and butter! I feel this deck does its job optimally. Glad you have enjoyed!
I don’t have Inara Stormcrash. Without that card, the deck doesn’t have the same feel, right?
I often only play Inara on turn 5 if I somehow did not draw doomhammer or cagematch custodian. Otherwise, Inara is used primarily as a boost to your large face turns.
This is great! Ran into a slump with elemental Shaman deck I was playing. I can see the stumped look on the opponents face when I start playing as they have no idea what's happening :)
Yes! Super satisfying for their board to be wide with no taunts and then double rockbiter + stormstrike for 22+ damage to face! Not unrealistic to have this occur most games too.
Thanks for posting this. How's your run going with it so far? I'm having fun just picked it up
Deck is very enjoyable, as it includes massive OTK potential, as well as consistent burn damage. I am currently 20-8 right now in D2, I haven't been able to play too much, but it is a mainstay in my deck rotation. I am glad you are enjoying it, it deals with a lot of the meta decks with ease.
Paladin is 50/50, which is a very common opponent right now, but I suppose most decks are running into this issue.
