If you're really tired of aggro matchups, try playing Odd Warrior. I don't have a tracker but I won against nearly every aggro matchup. I run Terrorguard Escapee to counter Rez/Big Priest, Bad Luck Albatross to counter any deck that summons minion from deck, Chief Inspector to counter Secret Mage and Pala, and occasionally Mage combo decks, Kobold Stickyfinger to counter weapon based agroo strategies. Kill conditions are Brann Bronzebeard+2xColdlight Oracle and Silas Darkmoon+Soulbound Ashtongue+Shield Slam, but you can use these cards as resources in different matchups. Climbed to Legend with this deck, and it was so fun to ruin aggro player's day. Have fun.
Mulligan:
DH: Most meta Demon Hunter decks are aggresive right now, so keep board clears , Risky Skipper and Eternium Rover. You might want to consider Athletic Studies, Shield Block and EVIL Quartermaster
Druid: Most druid decks I've encountered were playing Malygos Druid with Celestial. So keep Brann Bronzebeard and Coldlight Oracle to burn their combo piece, but it's a hard matchup.
Hunter: Same with DH, but I doubt you'll see a Hunter.
Mage: Mage has two main archetypes you'll most likely to face and both aren't the same but always keeping Chief Inspector is essential. Other than that, go with DH or Druid mulligan, it's a coin flip.
Paladin: Most likely to be aggro so same with DH + Chief Inspector
Priest: Keep Bad Luck Albatross and Terrorguard Escapee. These will counter Raza or Rez Priest. You might want to consider Brann+Coldlight too, in order to burn their cards when they are not expecting.
Rogue: Same with DH + Kobold Stickyfinger and maybe Ancharrr. But if it's Quest Rogue, just concede.
Shaman: Same with DH, they are most likely to be Murloc Shaman.
Warlock: Same with DH but keep removal options Coerce and Shield Slam.
Warrior: Same with Rogue
Note: I see some Odd Warrior players playing minions instead of tapping even at Legend. Don't do that. You rarely need tempo. For example: instead of playing EVIL Quartermaster on Turn 3, just tap and end turn. Of course you have to play Albatross as soon as possible to counter Highlander, but if it isn't the case, just tap. Also if you don't have spare board clear option and opponent's hand isn't nearly empty, consider not using the clear.
Absolute garbage. There is not so much aggro, and even against aggro if you do not have a perfect draw, you are outpaced as you don't have enough taunts to play along tapping. If you just tap, you are outpaced by aggro, and if you do not tap, you just have a HUGE amount of useless cards meant to just "counter", but there is zero gameplan of your own. Complete garbage deck.
The "win conditions" are completely retarded. As you can never play a lot of cards, Brann + Oracle would just burn your own cards and replenish any of the aggro decks (which supposedly you are facing, but NOT). For priest id DOES NOT MATTER at all, because they have a ton of resurrect, so even if you burn some, you are still causing more harm to your own deck instead of theirs.
The Silas + Ashtounge + Shield Slam condition is even more ridiculous. With this deck you CANNOT DO ANY DAMAGE AT ALL TO ANY OPPONENT. So for this condition to work, you literally need A MINIMUM OF 30 ARMOR AND THE PERFECT DRAW TO HAVE ALL PIECES OF THE COMBO.
From ~50 games, that NEVER HAPPENED. You can never have 30+ armor with this deck, because you are constantly at disadvantage and even with the hero tap, you are getting hurt a ton by all aggro and control decks with any kind of game plan.
Literally an utter garbage with no game plan and no win conditions whatsoever.
Unfortunately, I have to agree with you, and now i'm really sad that i blew all of my dust on crafting it... After coming back from years of not playing the game.
I'm absolutely getting wrecked by priests, even with my perfect tech draw for them, even with them rezzing the shit that i gave them, i've lost to 11 priests, won vs one (he was a zoo priest lol)
The Silas + Ashtounge + Shield Slam, in 40 games or so, i've yet to come close to even achieving it, couple of times, i actually had 30+ armor, but the pieces weren't there...
Brann + Coldlight, like you've said, stuff that it burns is irrelevant half the time, and it also hurts me a lot more, especially cause my hand is almost always at least 7 cards...
At diamond ranked 10, im facing nothing but priests, that are a horrible match. Mages are a 50-50 (maybe). Yes, i do win against aggro, but its always a tough fight.
Currently sitting at around 50% WR...
Damn, no more dust for me, sigh
Yup, quick edit, deck is actual garbage. Wish that i had an actual meta-counter deck, considering this one gets spanked by the meta real hard
Maybe you got unlucky or maybe I got lucky, idk, I play this game just for fun and I could climb with this deck fairly quick before the nerfs so I wanted to post here. I don't have semi-essential Odd Warrior cards like 1/4 weapon so that drags down deck a little bit too. No need to be salty this much.
Sorry about your dust tho, but I wouldn't recommend 10k dust deck for climbing tbh. For climbing purposes, look for high legend decks, they are the most optimized decks available and perfect for climb.
I guess against Aggro this is fine, but as the Game Algorythm is "loving" me, it keeps on throwing other (better) Control Decks at me and at some Point i get forced to use my Combo Pieces, before its completed. Not bad, but no Deck for me ;/
Sometimes it's ok to use combo pieces without combo. Also you can alter the deck to do better against Control decks but I could climb with this deck.
First off man, i want to say a huge thank you. Haven't played this game in years, came back a few days ago, looked for a deck to build with some dust i had left from years ago.
Hated the meta, still kinda do, was looking for something to counter it. This deck is it. Reached diamond in no time currently sitting on 12-4 (lost 3 times to rez priest)
Would you mind writing the basic mulligan for all the meta decks? and also, what's the strategy vs priests? Last game i've played, i had the spawn three guys for my enemy and the bird, all played on turn 3 and 4, i've still lost. He kept rezzing the birds, and the little fellas, but occasionally he was getting lucky in getting the right stuff. Maybe i've rushed my brann, and not have gotten enough value out of it?
What would you say is the key strategy vs Big priest?
Big Priest is really hard matchup for this deck. Hitting early Bad Luck Albatross and Terrorguard Escapee is essential to win. Also you might consider giving up on combo and giving them Soulbound Ashtongue with Silas without combo intention, because they'll summon it again. Also with this, you can take one of their minion, which can protect you. But even then, they might not hit these minions to rez because of their luck, but these are things I did. I'll write down basic mulligan soon.
ahh cheers, thought i was doing something wrong vs big priests... that raises the question, should i just cut the cards made to counter them then? just accept the loss and keep on going, considering its still a bad matchup vs them even with the two cards included.
Looking forward to the mulligan guide.
I wouldn't do that but if you despise playing against Priest that much, you can cut the counters and concede to Priests.
Sub for reckless fury? Bladestorm?
Maybe, but I'd really recommend Reckless Flurry. Sometimes you can't use Reckless Flurry because you have so much armor, but for aggro matchups you can't stack up so you can hero power + Reckless Flurry for 5 mana deal 4 to all minions, which is pretty powerful and this happened to me many times in my climb.
I stopped reading there cause I see no reason to get tired of aggro matchups. Games end fast and all you need is a winratio >50%. I am tired of decks that games last more than 7 minutes. Thank you
You can't deny that meta has mostly aggresive decks and it gets a little repetitive after a while. Game needs some slower decks for its health.
Playing Hearthstone since the release and I skipped every control - late game META. Its all about personal taste.
Variety is the name of the game. Why not play both? The possibilities and different decks is what makes this game fun
