I have a priest deck that I am using in legends works pretty well. No yogg no Cthun. Similar play style as this one but has more healing and removals. I don’t know how to post a deck to the forum though so if you guys are interested would like to share
Used this deck to complete all the trial by felfire challenges. Just put Ooze instead of Mindreader (as Illucia doesn't work in adventures)
well i got from rank 7 to rank 1 plat
16-17 with this deck. Yes I know I'm not a great player.
Deck is fun when you have all the correct cards in your hand for any given situation. When you don't though, it's just a deck that slowly loses and doesn't do anything. And since you don't actually have any real card draw, at least not to the ridiculous extent other classes like mage, paladin or rogue do, you're basically in the hands of RNGesus. So many games lost where I'm just sitting there thinking to myself "well it sure would be great if I drew this or that", but I didn't, and in this meta, even one or two suboptimal turns means you're done.
Even against mage, who you are supposed to counter by "just outhealing their stuff" you can lose very easily if they draw into all their face damage and you don't get the correct healing cards. Also if they go Lunacy early and don't play minions, many of your cards will be completely dead.
So all in all, once again, it's really cool when it works cause you can truly shut your opponent down. But it's not a consistently strong deck. It has really high highs and super low lows.
interesting idea, but it loses so fkn hard against the current meta.
i just played a game vs a secret pally. i outplayed everything from him, had full hand most of the time when sometimes enemy was down to 1 handcard only and 0 minions board. Yet the paladin still wins due to the fkn ridiculousness this stupid game offers. ( i'm legend rank btw)
I honestly wasn't a fan of Malygos or Illucia. Too many times I found them to be dead cards in hand, though I am at a low rank, so maybe that has something to do with it. I replaced them with an Ooze cuz I was facing too many rogues and paladins with their damn weapons, and Devouring Plague to give me a bit more healing and soften up minions before Xyrella'ing them.
Other than that, though, this is a great deck. I'm pretty surprised at how good Ysera is, though sometimes it does take me a while to lower my hand size enough to play it.
I played 20 matches, won 17 lost 3. Mage is a mixed bag, if they go full face we can't outheal their spells and their card draw is way too insane for us to match.
Paladin is easy to beat if you tech in The Nameless One. I don't think I lost a single match against that class.
Warlock is a massive pain but winnable if you can make good use of Mindrender Illucia. I like to steal their Envoy Rustwix using The Nameless One. People say keep pressure on Warlock but thats hardly possible with all the removal they have. Best bet is to hope they either don't draw Tickatus early or try to steal it and play it using Illucia.
Getting a 1 Mana Illucia through Insight means you can try to do this on Turn 7 (Turn 6 with a Coin). If their Tickatus isn't corrupted, you can burn their own deck. Even if it's already corruped, I think playing it is the right choice. it's an 8/8 body + they can't summon it back with y'shaarj.
Overall, this deck seems really strong but card draw is a massive pain in the ass + surviving against aggro decks can be tough. This can't be autopiloted like other decks. One wrong move is the difference between win and loss. Personally, I'd rather play something else since every game turns into a 30 min match.
Any recommendations cutting cards for The Nameless One?
Honestly, up to this point I've never met the skill getting the full potential out of Mindrender Illucia. But then again I also could imagine those moments where it's painfully obvious to get value out of it. So I'm not 100% sure if this is the cut I want to make.
Thought about dropping 1x Draconic Studies or Holy Smite
Dek make Berdy think in brain. Dis make Berdy mad. Dek bad. May be good for thinker stinks but me Berdy make dek mistake and me want smash on deks face. Dek is mean and bad.
lol dont forget, you can steal OTK DH cards and OTK them using Illucia, ypu can also do the same to Mage, etc.....sometimes its the only way to win/survive. High skill card. Get gud!! lol
Mindrender Illucia is just useful if you want to give all your best cards to your opponent ....
This deck is a really fun deck, but it can be a mixed bag sometimes and is not an easy deck to "autopilot" you really have to think hard about your decisions.
A few changes i've made:
Cuts:
Mindrender Illucia - This card is great when it works in your favor, but it's very difficult when to decide to use it. You need to have enough leftover mana to make it useful and also need to be low enough on cards in your hand to really not be punished. I ended up cutting it because I really found myself only benefiting a few times and it otherwise punishing me or just being a dead card.
Malygos the Spellweaver - I know, at first thought it seems silly to cut this card but I could just NEVER hardly fit it in to be useful. I ended up maybe using it 1 out of every 10 games, and even then it feels mostly dead on the turn you play it. It's useful but just didn't end up being useful enough for me not to cut it.
Additions:
Serena Bloodfeather - Just a solid early game card, it really helps ease up early game pressure but is also good late game vs very high health minions.
Horde Operative - Purely a tech card for the current meta. Since it works really well vs Mage and Paladin (Which are everywhere).
Otherwise this is a super interesting deck to play, it's challenging enough not to feel stale and keeps you thinking. Although some games do feel like an uphill battle.
Yeah I like the addition of Serena Bloodfeather she isn't bonkers good but still a solid Tempo swing guaranteed. Just to bring minions in range for killing for example.
Horde Operative I'm not sold on yet because it doesn't really answer a secret but it's a solid 3-drop with an upside. So you can still play it for tempo, which is something Priest doesn't normally do.
Hm... Winrate vs Mages is only 41% right now. it's s*cks man
The trouble with priest right now is having no win conditions and also having to auto concede vs warlock. I am not sure why they made priest be put in a position where every single priest deck loses to tickatus.
I really want to somehow fit The Nameless One into the deck, since the card is pretty bonkers. Silencing a paladin minion that has been buffed with avenge/libram/hand of adal is great. Silencing a watchpost and becoming a copy of that watchpost is great. Not auto losing to warrior is great (minor consideration but it's nice if we don't auto lose to rattlegore). Being able to deal with rustwix is also good. Warlock matchup is awful but if the have rustwix it's even more unwinnable. It's tempting to cut a SW:Death for it or a holy smite for it.
I found I was able to cut Mindrender Illucia pretty easily to fit other "pet cards" in. I would give that a try. I've also been considering The Nameless One as an option.
Do you mean play illucia AFTER they corrupt tickatus? The issue of course is that if they play strongman on curve to corrupt tickatus then it's too early. Good strategy though if you can do it with 9 mana and you are pretty sure they have it.
everyone's talking about to illucia after tickatus is corrupted, but do you realize you still burn your own deck? u want to illucia BEFORE tickatus is corrupted, which is a much harder task
the deck itselfs is fun tho, but it is absolutely not a mage counter... if you don't get illucia and able to use it when opponent has a good hand, then it's just meh
it's better to burn 5 of your own cards then let them play it twice through yas, so I do think stealing a corrupted tickatus and burning your own deck is usually the right play
