First deck of the new expansion! Got me from Bronze 10 to Diamond 5 right after expansion hit. Here is the breakdown
UPDATE : Now that the meta has settled and I've pounded more games of this, it has 2 pretty rough matchups. Control/Healing Lock and Lunacy Mage (to a lesser extent Hero Power Mage). Deck runs out of gas and oppo is at a frustrating 8 health. I've removed Ras and 1 copy of Lilypad Lurker and included 1 Doomhammer and 1 natural Bloodmage to try and SMORC down those matchups a little quicker and draw to burn.
This deck runs both the Elemental AND Enhancement Class Packages (hence the Duel Spec flavor from Classic. It also includes Kazakus cuz Shaman 4 drops are Garbo
TLDR : Play this deck like an aggro/tempo deck, weaving in chip damage and using your resources to maintain/seize the board. Use Diligent Notetaker + Stormstrike or Serpentshrine Portal on 5 to keep up the pressure if you didnt draw Kazakus. Try and cheat out your big hitters w/ Lightning Bloom like Inara Stormcrash or Al'Akir the Windlord. Your aim is to kill them around turn 8 or 9. Keep up the pressure with Fire Elemental or break through taunts with Lilypad Lurker to close things out.
-----Detailed Breakdown-----
Enhancement Package - Your main source of pressure. Synergizes so well with the new Elemental package. Cagematch and Stormstrike are solid keeps in the mulligan.
- 2x (2) Cagematch Custodian
- 2x (3) Stormstrike
- 2x (3) Whack-A-Gnoll Hammer
- 1x (5) Doomhammer
- 1x (5) Inara Stormcrash
Elemental Package - Kindling into Arid is just an amazing start, so mulligan hard for them if you didn't get any of your good enhancement cards. Once you get good at navigating Marshspawn and your high-tempo spell removal, this deck does a GREAT job at hanging onto the board.
- 2x (1) Kindling Elemental
- 2x (3) Arid Stormer
- 2x (3) Marshspawn
- 1x (5) Lilypad Lurker
- 2x (6) Fire Elemental
The rest of the deck consists of spells to synergize with damage and Marshspawn, as well as Kazakus, Golem Shaper, Instructor Fireheart , and other just general good cards to either tempo quickly or get more value out of your duel spec deck!
This deck is a bit expensive to craft, so if your tight on dust I would recommend cutting the below cards and subbing with some cheaper options:
Replacements
- x2 Mistrunner
- x2 Steward of Scrolls
I made this "budget" version of the deck with no Legendaries - https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1383549-cheap-elemental-shaman
And there you go! Let me know what you think
Decided to take out a Lightning Bloom in favor of a missile and it seems like a decent swap for the moment. Either way, this has definitely been the most enjoyable deck to pilot this expansion.
I'm wondering if cutting out a Fire Elemental or The Lurker Below for a Devolving Missiles would be a good investment. The biggest hurdle for this deck seems to be the 8/8 taunt/divine shield from Paly so having a guaranteed counter in the deck should play nicely.
Very good options! I’ve also run into the same issue a few times. Marshspawn is the most reliable there, so I think very good cuts to make room. Play lurker if your running into a lot of Murloc shaman/hunter and even DH tbh. He’s very good at swinging back the board, but not really the meta tbh
Really enjoy the small changes made to the deck
Im secretly playing a super SMOR version that has 2 doomhammers atm. weaker against pally, but bullies priest/warlock.
feels nice Delaroc !
i m playing with elemental shaman in wild, i love this archetype and with the new cards from Forged in the Barrens
i built a elemental shaman to play in wild, and for sure i will try your deck
i just dont have Inara Stormcrash ... :P
do u recommend any replacement ?
ty for sharing the deck, i will try it !
Thanks!! I’m glad you like it.
but man, a replacement for Inara is hard. She’s a BIG amount of reach for only 5 mana, especially when combined with Stormstrike or if you had a Gnoll Hammer already equipped. If you wanna keep the deck fast and a little more aggressive, I would say Substitute Inara and maybe Raz for a Doomhammer and some additional draw, like Bloodmage Thalanos or Taelion Fordring
Don't play Ras Frostwhisper just because you have it. This card is useless in shaman at the moment. It does not add anything, it does not synergize with anything (even spell damage totem is gone) and the only benefit is that the opponent will invest resource to try to remove it. This deck lacks draw like any other shaman deck. Play something that draws cards instead. Even Taelan Fordring is better or Bloodmage Thalnos
Ras was included because i figured we would see weapon/stealth rogue and even w/ no spell damage hes great at clearing stealthed minions. Agreed tho, probably not adding much value right now.
Prob is shaman doesnt have efficent draw outside of cagematch. Manatide too slow and tinyfins is pointless. Agreed, Taelan would be a good add.
Im leaning towards taking out raz and primoridal and adding either 2 Menacing Nimbus for more resources or 2 Rockbiter Weapon for more burn. If only cram session were a duel-class spell.....
The deck looks interesting and fun, so maybe today I will give it a try ;)
I haven't tested the elemental package yet, initially I thought that it might be too weak, but maybe this kind of hybrid is the way to go.
It’s fun I promise!
My inspiration was to make a deck that was themed like a classic wow character that had duel specs. The Ele’s fight for board while you punch them face.
I think some of the elementals are a little weak, so I tried to stick with the ones that either:
I came back a day later to say this deck is hecka' fun. Thank you :)
I don't have Ras or Kazakus, but I'm still rockin' it.
That’s great!! What did you substitute instead?!? I’ve been playing with a few tech cards to deal with weapons and secrets to test things out
