So I'm sure you've all seen Trump's Nagrand Hunter from the theory crafting stream he did, or just on YouTube. Or maybe you didn't, and somehow you ended up here anyway.
Well, here I present to you a new version of the deck, adjusted by me, someone who has no idea what he's talking about. Well what have I changed exactly? Simple, replace Quick Shot with Yogg-Saron, Master of Fate and C'Thun, the Shattered.
The thinking behind this is simple: Your C'Thun, the Shattered is an additional win condition in case your opponent is able to deal with both sets of your clowns. Your total number of spells goes up to 18 with the pieces of C'Thun, the Shattered as well even after you take out the Quick Shots, meaning you have more than enough to activate Yogg-Saron, Master of Fate.
What are the advantages of doing this?
- The Pieces of C'Thun, the Shattered are 5 drops, so you have more things to play between turns 5 and 10 where you want to corrupt your Carnival Clowns.
- You get more value out of Primordial Protector after you've drawn both copies of Nagrand Slam and you tutor a piece of C'Thun, the Shattered
- Professor Slate synergies really well with Eye of C'Thun
- Yogg-Saron, Master of Fate, which by the way is an extra option to corrupt your Carnival Clowns
- You don't run out of steam automatically if your opponent deals with your Carnival Clowns
There are only 2 disadvantages I have managed to think of by teching out Quick Shot from your deck:
- You have less burn and reach. We actually see one scenario in Trump's video where he gets lethal with double Quick Shot, but this will probably be quite rare in constructed play for this deck
- Taelan Fordring draws Yogg-Saron, Master of Fate instead of Carnival Clown unless you already have him in your hand.
Overall though this should be a fun deck to play and one that I hope does well in Ladder. If it does, that will likely be down to the amount of card draw it has with Barak Kodobane, the new Tracking, and Primordial Protector.
Here is a link to a video Trump posted of him playing Nagrand Hunter (without Yogg-Saron, Master of Fate and C'Thun, the Shattered):
I've tried this deck only 5 times, but it is actually pretty clever deck. You can have some anti-aggro synergy cards with Wound Prey, Bola Shot, Kolkar Pack Runner or Tame Beast (Rank 1). Great tempo with Kazakus, Golem Shaper and big swing turns with Primordial Protector. Really good deck so far, thanks man.
I'm really hoping this deck is given space to work out in whatever meta gets established this expansion. I love the look of this deck.
Umm... Maybe not? At the moment Deck of Lunacy and Paladin are just too good for anything else to exist. Since those are going to get nerfed for sure very soon the Meta is technically a complete unknown. Control Priest looks like it'll be good, and I think that might give this deck a chance to exist.
I'm trying to control myself to not craft this right now, has anyone tested it today ?
A hunter deck that doesn't just hit face as fast as possible? It's a thing of beauty.
This looks pretty cool, I gotta say. And as long as the meta isn't too "facey" and more board controlly, you've got everything you need here.
I really hope this deck works; as you say it would be the first time in the history of HS that a hunter deck can contest fatigue since probably some kind of Zul'jin + DK Rexxar deck back in the day
it really doesn't, it's more of a meme deck than anything else
