United in Stormwind Cards List & Guide
Total Deck Rating
This deck started as a Celestial Alignment deck, but it was too slow and playing Celestial Alignment didn't even win most games, so it's gone through some changes.
Now, we Post, Taunt, Corrupt, WIN! :D
worst deck ever
Cant think about Celestial Alignment w/o considering Clockwork Giant, its the only proactive play you can make on the same turn you cast the spell. Why didnt you include it?
It’s a good play with Celestial Alignment, but getting to that point is the hard part IMO. Playing them together might win you a couple games more, but honestly you should be winning most games where you get to play Celestial Alignment anyway, so I focussed on putting in some more early plays.
Can we even play it in Standard? isn't Clockwork Giant a wild-only card?
It's in the core set.
Why run one Primordial Protector when you're running a spell that costs more than Celestial Alignment? It's good on its own, but it's there so you can draw the card you built your entire deck around. As for Imprisoned Satyr, it's not worth running a 3 mana do nothing (after you cast Celestial Alignment, it'll be 1 mana do literally nothing lmfao) so your N'zoth can pull a 3/3.
I think Primordial Protector is useful so that you have a fighting chance if you don't draw Celestial Alignment. Also is an insane card to play when the mana resets to 1. Regarding Imprisoned Satyr, it is a great card to give you tempo during the ramp phase and, despite the low stats, it would survive an AOE after you play N'zoth. I could be wrong, but this is how I see it. Of course, there are other options. What would you use instead?
I’m with AggroConcede here in that I think you can win some games just off getting lucky with Imprisoned Satyr early and that makes it worth running. Yeah, it’s worse after Celestial Alignment, but it’ll still make a card in hand cost 0, and if you’ve played Survival of the Fittest a 7/7 isn’t nothing, even if you do have to wait 2 turns for it.
Like I said in my latest edit though, 1 Imprisoned Satyr is perfectly fine to take out (or even both if you want of course) for a murloc/Armorsmith/whatever else you think will do better. Maybe a Clockwork Giant like @Avaidaocu suggested.
We’ll see what ends up being optimal in a week or two!
And the deck is indeed of course built around Celestial Alignment, but Primordial Protector into Survival of the Fittest is it’s own win condition, particularly if you follow up with some Carnival Clowns. I’ve tried to make it so that you can win just fine even without Celestial Alignment, but it could turn out that drawing it more consistently ends up the better choice. Your Carnival Clowns would be a whole lot weaker without Survival of the Fittest though, and most of your individual minions aren’t particularly threatening without the +4/+4, so I think it's worth running Survival of the Fittest.
Hey Jarizok! :)
Thanks for this great deck idea. I have noticed that you very briefly put Lunar Eclipse instead of one of the Razormane Battleguard. However, very quickly you switched them back. What was the thought process if you don't mind me asking? I will play your deck at the start of the expansion - so I really appreciate your guide and comments. They are super helpful!
I thought Lunar Eclipse might be good for some early removal while you ramp up, but then I realised that playing Razormane Battleguard is more proactive, and your opponent will /always/ spend resources clearing it anyway. They can't take the risk that you follow it up with like a Greybough or something, and late game Razormane Battleguard is just a better card, both to help you corrupt Carnival Clown and as a 6/7 body (with Survival of the Fittest buff) over a 3 damage spell.
This makes a lot of sense and I agree. As you said in the guide above, Razormane Battleguard works wonders both before and after we play Celestial Alignment :)
Took out Cenarion Ward and Strongman. Both good cards, and they synergize well with each other, but not particularly well with the rest of the deck. You'd much rather draw Celestial Alignment from Primordial Protector than Cenarion Ward even if it'll summon a weaker minion on average, and Moontouched Amulet is more versatile than Strongman. You wouldn't want Imprisoned Satyr hitting your Strongman either and let's face it, this deck's got plenty of Taunts already.
OTOH, maybe dropping Living Seed and a Druid of the Plains in favor of seconds of Nordrassil Druid and Nourish can help consistently get ramp > CA > ramp going?
Mark of the Spikeshell dropped instead of a Druid of the Plains. Skews the curve even more, but MotS wasn't going to be a card you'd want to play early anyway. At least you had the option though :/
Nvm, put it back in, took out a Carnival Clown instead. Mark of the Spikeshell can still be used to get the 2nd clown if necessary late, but has upside much earlier, which will be needed much more often to stay in a game than the 2nd clown will be necessary to win a fatigue/value game superlate.
Definitely need 2x Nourish. That card alone won match ups on streams I watched. Ramping back up after an initial CA is SO important. Being able to play 2 or 3 cards more at that stage, immediately, is HUGE.
There's a bunch of different ways you can already play multiple cards after Celestial Alignment though, and I'm scared committing to double Nourish means there's not even early game in this deck to get to that point.
Like, Living Seed is not as big a swing as Nourish, but it's much more versatile to help you get to the point where you can slam CA and steamroll I think.
Do you think my deluge of changes has made this better at all? :p
