Introduction

I have been playing and refining different versions of prelate paladin for the past few months, and it has become my favorite paladin archetype to play. This deck is a high tempo highlander deck focused on using buffs to gain control of the board and win in the mid game if possible. One fun card that works well with all your buffs is Immortal Prelate, which keeps growing and getting stronger with buffs. In addition to the prelate, it has a board based playstyle of buffing minions and gaining board control with many other minions that benefit from buffs such as Wickerflame Burnbristle, Shirvallah, the Tiger, Zilliax, and Moonfang. Finally, if your early game tempo rush does not work and the game goes to the late game, it has a variety of enjoyable finishers in addition to a huge prelate such as Lynessa Sunsorrow, Dragonqueen Alexstrasza, and Murgurgle Prime. This version of the deck has a lot less prelate specific synergy than Prelate Paladin but has powerful highlander cards that help with both offense and defense.

Guide

First Day of School - Good mulligan keep, it gives you turn 1 minions to play that can then be buffed starting as early as turn 2 with Hand of A'dal.

Aldor Attendant - Good mulligan keep, this is a one drop that you can then buff on turn 2 with Hand of A'dal. It also discounts your librams.

Righteous Protector - Good one drop that you can then buff on turn 2 with Hand of A'dal. It is also good with buffs later in the game given its taunt and divine shield.

Argent Braggart - This can be a huge body in the mid game for just 2 mana. A nice combo is buffing a minion with Blessing of Authority or even Blessing of Kings and then playing Argent Braggart in the same turn.

Hand of A'dal - Keep this if you have First Day of School, a 1 mana minion, or a 2 mana minion and the coin, this is a great buff and card draw in one.

Immortal Prelate - Great with buffs, you can keep playing this and getting tempo from a huge 2 mana minion.

Murgur Murgurgle - It's good as an early drop to survive a turn so you can then buff it due to its divine shield. In addition, it gives you another late game threat in Murgurgle Prime.

Shielded Minibot - Similarly to Murgur Murgurgle, it has good survivability due to its divine shield so you can buff it next turn.

Sir Finley of the Sands - Definitely keep it in the mulligan, having an upgraded hero power can give you a huge boost throughout the game. The best hero powers are the warlock one to draw cards and the paladin one to have minions that you can buff. The rogue one is good too early on as the weapon can give you a large tempo boost. Later in the game the hunter hero power can help you finish out the game.

Zephrys the Great - Definite mulligan keep, a flexible card that can give you lethal, removals, and other useful cards. One of the main advantages of the highlander version of the deck.

Aldor Peacekeeper - Helps keep up your tempo by giving you very favorable trades where you remove an enemy minion while keeping your own almost unscathed.

Divine Favor - This can give you useful card draw against slower decks.

Seal of Champions - Helps you push damage and the divine shield gives you favorable trades.

Wickerflame Burnbristle - This is good with buffs and especially good against weapon decks to get a large heal.

Blessing of Kings - Generally good buff, gives a lot of tempo from sudden favorable trades and bursts of face damage.

Consecration - Helps you clear wide boards and synergizes with Libram of Justice for a one sided board clear.

Keeper of Uldaman - Use this to buff a silver hand recruit or use it on an enemy minion for yet another way of getting favorable trades and dominating the board.

Aldor Truthseeker - A good body and taunt and discounts your librams.

Blessing of Authority - Amazing buff for the cost, you can use it to favorably trade with a minion and then go face with your now huge minion the following turn.

Libram of Justice - Can be used to remove a minion, or have a lot of favorable trades and take control of the board. Good synergy with Consecration.

Moonfang - This is very good with buffs, and some classes can't deal with him well. You can play it out on turn 5 into Spikeridged Steed turn 6 which makes it require 9 hits of damage to kill, or play it later and combo it with a buff the turn you play him.

Zilliax - This is also a good buff target, on turn 10 with Blessing of Authority he will restore at least 11 health to your hero. You can use it earlier with other buffs and it is still very good, it's a useful card against aggro even if you have to play it without any buffs.

Reno Jackson - Full heal that improves your matchups against midrange and aggro.

Spikeridged Steed - This is good both because it gives a lot of health and taunt and because a large taunted prelate that keeps coming back can often win you the game against aggressive decks by itself.

Lady Liadrin - She will give you a ton of buffs so you can keep buffing minions and your Immortal Prelate.

Libram of Judgment - This can help you gain health against aggro decks and do 15 damage over 3 turns as a finisher.

Lynessa Sunsorrow - In this deck she will often have close to 30/30 in stats, often more, and taunt and lifesteal. If your opponent used up their silences and removals on your earlier threats, she can often win the game by herself.

Dragonqueen Alexstrasza - This will provide a lot of tempo late game.

Libram of Hope - A heal and 8/8 taunt divine shield can save you against many aggressive decks. If played on a minion, then Lynessa Sunsorrow will summon the 8/8 divine shield taunt as well.

Shirvallah, the Tiger- Given the amount of spells in this deck, this is often free by turn 8. Playing this for tempo or as a massive heal and clear against aggro decks when combined with buffs can cause a huge swing in your favor.

Conclusion and other Prelate Deck Varieties

I hope this guide was helpful. You can comment below with any questions or comments about it.

If you like this deck, I have been playing two other prelate paladin decks that are somewhat similar but have slightly different playstyles and strengths and weaknesses so you can check them out too. I think they are generally of similar power level, winrate with each will depend on what deck archetypes you face. I have a positive winrate with all of these decks in platinum mmr level, but Prelate Paladin does the best against slower decks, Pure Prelate paladin does slightly better against aggro and slightly worse against control, while Reno Prelate Paladin does even better against aggro but worse against control.

Prelate Paladin (more buffs and more prelate synergy than Reno Prelate Paladin instead of the highlander cards package): https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1379151-prelate-paladin

Pure Prelate Paladin (similar playstyle to Prelate Paladin but with some strong pure paladin cards taking the place of some neutral cards): https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1379150-pure-prelate-paladin
