While I am certainly not the one who came up with the idea for this deck, I think it will definitely be worth revisiting once necrium apothecary is unnerfed. The deck is already pretty decent in wild with what it has and apothecary at 5 mana, because it is quite favored against secret mage, since they can't clear a giant board. In January, I climbed pretty easily to diamond 5 with it at about 60% win rate. The games are pretty fast and omega draw dependent, usually decided by turn 6 or 7, but fun and wild, nonetheless. With the reverted nerf, the addition of the new dragon from Darkmoon races as well as the new core set deathwing (otherwise would be Ysera or Chromaggus), I can definitely see the deck actually finding a place in the meta beyond just a meme.
insanely fun
i had to come back and write this review
Glad you like it! It’s definitely a fun deck and can win in almost any match up if you high roll.
This looks a potential deck, it has more ways to win, like make deathwing DL a 1/1 with anka or play it with Necrium apothecary. But I have card suggestions/questions
I know that Sphere of Sapience is a weapon which generate a risk, but is it also a viable card to use to keep deathwing in your deck?
Also, is Safety Inspector a good card to have, since it can shuffle cards back in your deck? This for example if you have Apothecary, but already draw deathwing DL
Ah yeah, sphere is good in theory, but it interferes with drawing necrium blade from cavern shinyfinder. It is also awkward to play if you want to equip necrium blade because you might only get 1 or 2 uses out of it.
as for safety inspector, apothecary will rarely be the cheapest card, even at 4 mana. You’d more likely end up shuffling a cheap spell or maybe an extra shinyfinder. That’s okay, but too often have I shuffled a card and gotten the same exact card back into my hand and it just feels pointless a lot of the time. Might get lucky with it on occasion I guess, but feels too rng. It’s also bad for your elven minstrel pool. I also just don’t really know what you’d cut for it. There’s a lot of draw in the deck already so maybe 1 candle breath could be cut? The second one is usually too much, but the first one is usually great which is why I have 2 for consistency, and having more draw defeats the purpose of including safety inspector
Deathwing the Destroyer × 1 WTF?
I know right? should have 2 or 3, but alas, cannot
Play Warrior for the 4th!
Let me know when you can generate Necrium Apothecary in warrior lol
