EDIT 1: Thanks for all the love! Scroll down for a mulligan and strategy guide.

Hi Folks,

My name is Aaron (username Broadbone), I'm a 6x legend player from Canada. I recently got back into Hearthstone after a couple of years off.

My main interest in the game is piloting off-meta decks to legend. Last season I had great success with aggro shaman.

A number of seasons ago I made legend with a pirate warrior build (pre-corsair cache nerf). Since then I've always had some form of a pirate deck on the go, but haven't been able to pilot it past diamond 2 or so.

This season I finally cracked the code! I don't use a deck-tracker (I play on mobile), but I estimate after my latest tweaks this deck went ~25-10 from Diamond 5 to Legend (took me two tries to finally break through).

Out of curiosity, I searched some of the typical sites and hadn't seen a deck running a similar build. I also faced exactly zero mirrors on my way to legend.

I hope you folks enjoy trying out this deck! I'll post a play strat/mulligan guide if this post gets interest. Hint: Tent Trasher is a great 3-drop!

Have fun and charrrrggeeeee!

Strategy/Mulligan Guide:

General:
For the most part, you want to be proactive rather than reactive with this deck. Contrary to what many people think about Pirate Warrior, this is really more of a mid-tempo deck than an aggro one. You're aiming to have constant pressure on the board, taking value trades, setting up swing turns, and overwhelming the midgame before seeing the opening to win the race and go face. You want to look for a lethal opportunity 2 or 3 turns out, and play into it. Many games will go down to the wire.

Rules of thumb:
1) Try to save Parachute Brigand for a combo with another Pirate and Skybarge
2) Don't use up your weapon unless you have lethal set up, need it to prevent dying, or know where the next one is coming from (nothing worse than top-decking a 5-cost Cutting Class).

Mulligan: Always keep Imprisoned Gan'arg and Stage Hand as your 1 and 2 drops, respectively. Mulligan hard for these. Sky Raider is reasonable as a 1-drop and is worth keeping if you don't have Gan'arg (or if you do and are thinking about a Tent Trasher play on  the coin. Speaking of which, I always keep Tent Trasher if I have either a 1-drop or the coin. Try to get it out ASAP). Ancharrr can be worth holding if it fits your curve. Toss everything else.

Ideal openings:
No Coin:
T1 Gan'arg, T2 Stage Hand, T3 Tent Trasher
Coin: T1 Gan'arg, T2 Stage Hand, T3 Southsea Raider or Sky Raider + Tent Trasher (coin if needed on T3).
