Hey everyone, I'm Gatormatthew. I make educational Hearthstone content (usually HearthPwn Guides + YT Videos). I went from D4-Legend (without a star bonus) with this ETC Aggro deck, going 22-9. This deck is crazy good and also really cheap. Below, I have a general card selection/mulligan guide, as well as a youtube guide where I showcase a few games with the deck. Enjoy!
In terms of overall card choices, I feel pretty good about this list. There isn't much data out there about the archetype, but, I'll be able to adjust the decklist as more data comes in with people playing the deck. The most out of place card is Bomb Wrangler, but the deck severely lacks 3-drops and you can never go wrong with playing the Wrangler on 3. Don't play Skydiving Instructor, it sucks.
Mulligan-wise, this deck is pretty simple. You always want to keep Imprisoned Gan'arg, Stage Dive, andBumper Car. E.T.C., God of Metal is a keep into anything remotely slow-paced. You don't want ETC into a class like Rogue that simply plans on killing you. Into slower decks, however, ETC is an incredibly powerful finisher that you want in your opening hand. Do not keep Athletic Studies, ever.
There are a few minor mistakes I've made playing the deck that I want to bring some attention to. Be careful with playing Athletic Studies + one of your 2-mana rush cards. This won't corrupt Nitroboost Poison or Stage Dive. For example, if your hand on turn 2 was Athletic Studies + Bumper Car + Stage Dive, just play the Bumper Car and then Stage Dive + what you draw off of it on turn 3. Studies + Car will discount the Car, making it not corrupt Dive. Also, don't feel trapped into using Playmaker andE.T.C., God of Metal together in one turn. Using Playmaker + Bumper Car on a previous turn will allow you to ETC combo with less mana (ETC + 4 1-1 tokens = 6 mana, 8 damage, while Playmaker + ETC + 1-1 Token = 6 mana, 4 damage.)
Video Guide:
Quick question. Do you keep your rush minions in hand till you get etc? I got buffed crab riders that I played and they were removed by a Paladin broom deck using librams and flingers. So wondering if I should have held it back for the etc and kept armouring up?
Only rush minions you hold for ETC are the 1-1 rush minions from the Bumper Car. Something like a Stage Dive buffed Crabrider is going to apply an insane amount of pressure, you never hold it. However, if an enemy is in lethal range and you have ETC in your hand, you might consider it, it is all about gamestate.
The situation you are describing though most certaintainly seems like one where you would just drop the crab.
