Was bored of the current decks and wanted to mess around with all the Dude cards we got this expansion.
At first the deck was somewhat heavier with 2x Sandwasp Queen and High Exarch Yrel instead of 2x Oh My Yogg! and an extra Blessing of Kings . Oh My Yogg! has been absolutely insane vs most board clearing decks and board spreading decks. It basically protects your full board of 2/3 divine shield dudes from a clear. You can see in the Deck Tracker how much of a difference these changes made, going 12 - 3 after it.
The deck plays quite similar to the midrange decks of old, only this time with more synergies and quite a bit of value. The only card I'm not entirely satisfied with is High Abbess Alura, but she carried her weight in the end.
Edit: After the High Abbess Alura nerf, it's best to replace her with either Murgur Murgurgle or Imprisoned Celestial, since I was already not sure whether I wanted to keep her BEFORE the nerf.
Edit: HOLY SHIT, HSReplay just posted on Twitter that this deck is the 3rd best to climb with to Legend. I can't believe enough people even play it to become part of the statistics. Thank you all for trying it out!
Aye, you can blow people out of the water at times. Especially when you go from no board to a full board of 2/3s with divine shield and they have no answer to it. I'm glad you're enjoying it!
Please, can you tell about the Mulligan?
Usually you don't keep Oh My Yogg, unless you're sure you're facing a control deck or a Druid that wants to ramp. 14 out of the 30 cards are spells, so keeping Goody Two-Shields is always a good idea. Redscale and Hand of A'dal so that you can draw through your deck more easily. At times it's fine to use the non-corrupt version of Day at the Faire, it all depends on what you're facing. If you can play a strong board of 3 2/3s on turn 6 vs an Aggro Rogue, it's over for them basically. I also keep Consecration vs Druid since they might be token Druid. Taking care of their board of Glowflies without having to trade is fantastic. After a few games you'll get the feel for the deck.
couldnt win a match, changed to broom pala and won 5 in a row , broom is superior in every way, problem in standard is you dont have the dude generation power of odd paladin.
To each their own, works like a charm for me. Sorry to hear it didn't work out for you.
Congrats in the legend man, looks like a pretty cool deck! Cheers.
Hey Reinan23, thank you my dude! It made me think back of the old days, when midrange Pala was a thing.
Good deck. I played 32 games of it with a 62% win rate and went from D3 to legend. I have previously been high legend etc too so after playing the deck I feel qualified to give some recommendations.
First off I need to say the deck’s win rate that I got and other people have is also a feature of people being unfamiliar with this deck and so keep that in mind. It’s unlikely to be a 60% win rate deck. The best decks are around 55% usually.
My feeling about the deck is that two copies of Oh My Yogg! is not required, a dead card in some matchups (it feels bad vs rogue since 0 mana spells can give then innervate or lightning bloom) and only good vs decks with lots of board clears. I want it in some matchups such as vs priest or druid (glowfly swarm) but I don’t want it in other like vs aggro rogue. Therefore, one copy might be more optimal.
Since control decks aren’t a big part of the meta right now and you can play around things like consecration easily and just refill the board anyway vs control, it doesn’t seem strictly necessary to run two copies. That being said, I accept also there aren’t that many great contenders for this spot. However, I considered swapping one copy out for a blessing of might to give the deck a bit more reach since often I was 1 or 2 off lethal and had to wait for the next turn. I considered righteous cause as an option too but that may be forced to proc at times which are not optimal. The other possibility I thought of is running just one copy of subdue. If I was playing lots of miracle rogue I would swap both secrets out for two copies of subdue. This way I have a way to deal with questing or Edwin.
You're right about the unfamiliarity of this deck, and I too have been high legend several times, but quit Standard for some months because of how stale it was. Climbed first with Duel Pala this month, then made this.
You also don't use Oh My Yogg whenever you can, you need to somewhat read the opponents hand and what they might want to do to your board. The thing is, Aggro Rogue is an easy match-up for this deck, having 2 Oh My Yoggs wasn't a problem for me. That being said, I do play on EU, where people love to spam Mage, Druid and Priest and only some Rogues here and there. If I were to face mainly Rogue (non-aggro) I would've made changes to accommodate for that.
Consecration has helped me take down small boards with tiny amounts of health several times, especially vs the various Pala, Priest and to some degree Warrior decks, so that the rest of my Dudes could run in. Then again, it's all meta-dependent. Since you posted this two hours ago, I assume you play on NA.
Thank you for the input. Indeed DO make changes based on the meta you face, that counts for each and every deck, even the cookie-cutter ones, something a lot of people forget most of the time.
Yea, I play on NA. There are almost no priests. There are a lot of rogues. It sounds like a different meta. When playing this deck 25% of my opponents were rogue.
Been thinking of playing on the other servers as well, but by now that would cost a small fortune. I wish we had more Rogue players over here, haha. Glad to hear the deck's been doing well for you though.
hey i just wanted to ask what do you think about side quest in this deck
1 or 2 copies
edit 4 and 0 after add of side quest
I considered it after a few games, since it's a staple in Odd Paladin in Wild these days, but it went so well without it I didn't find it necessary. Do keep us up-dated on how it performed for you though!
actually ended up going 13-5 after the changes got me from bronze 10 to silver 5 in those games side quest is so stupid if played correctly . like for example playing 4 individual minions and than summening 3 silver hands buffing ur whole board plus +1+1. in some matchups gives u better board control vs zoo locks, token druids and even stealth rouge and some times even warrior 1 extra hp puts ur board out of risky skiper range sometimes, definably when they have divine shield.
i took out 1 first day of school and one oh my yogg for 2 side quests
Probably good picks to take out, depending on your meta. I kept facing control decks, that's why I have the 2 Oh My Yoggs in there. Good to hear the deck is doing well for you!
went from P5 - D10 with 1 loss pretty solid deck thanks
Glad to hear it's working out for you! Been climbing towards 2k legend with it with a 64% WR so far.
gameplan which requires found one legendary card - it's very bad idea
Not even remotely. Lothraxion definitely makes people shit their pants, but without playing him you're still very strong.
Subbed 1 Oh my Yogg for Desperate Measuers(didnt want to craft another Yogg) and 1 imprisoned celestial for 1 Redscale dragontamer
