Was bored of the current decks and wanted to mess around with all the Dude cards we got this expansion.
At first the deck was somewhat heavier with 2x Sandwasp Queen and High Exarch Yrel instead of 2x Oh My Yogg! and an extra Blessing of Kings . Oh My Yogg! has been absolutely insane vs most board clearing decks and board spreading decks. It basically protects your full board of 2/3 divine shield dudes from a clear. You can see in the Deck Tracker how much of a difference these changes made, going 12 - 3 after it.
The deck plays quite similar to the midrange decks of old, only this time with more synergies and quite a bit of value. The only card I'm not entirely satisfied with is High Abbess Alura, but she carried her weight in the end.
Edit: After the High Abbess Alura nerf, it's best to replace her with either Murgur Murgurgle or Imprisoned Celestial, since I was already not sure whether I wanted to keep her BEFORE the nerf.
Edit: HOLY SHIT, HSReplay just posted on Twitter that this deck is the 3rd best to climb with to Legend. I can't believe enough people even play it to become part of the statistics. Thank you all for trying it out!
Super fun deck. Wasn't aiming to hit legend this season but I kept winning with it and got legend for the first time.
D4-Legend
Hell yeah! Congrats on reaching legend for the first time. Glad you're having as much fun with it as I have.
Anything for lothraxion or he is must-have? I have dust to craft him, but dont wanna do this, since new set is coming :/
Lothraxion came with the Dark Moon Faire so he'll be staying in standard for the next year. He somewhat wins you most games vs control, seeing how strong Divine Shield on 1 minion is, now you have it on every Dude once you play him. It also seems that Dude Pala will be a thing after the rotation, since the core set has several Dude synergies added to it.
Having said that, I am a Pala/Warrior/Hunter/Warlock main, so I tend to craft whatever those classes have regardless and mess around with it. I understand not everybody has mains and/or the dust for many cards. Lothraxion can even be played in a future control deck, but if you are not that big a fan of Paladin, I'd say you should wait for next rotation.
As much as he is core to the deck, if I were forced to replace him with anything, it would probably be an Imprisoned Celestial.
Man, I love your deck. You literally brought the odd paladin deck from wild to standard :) Good job mate! I love to see the surprise of secret mages :)
Not sure if you're being sarcastic, since people seem to hate Odd Paladin, haha. Otherwise, thank you for all the love for this deck and I'm glad you're having fun with it!
Hi, good job with this, went from D3 to Legend today with few losses. Works really well, before that i tried highlinder hunter, pure pally, ramp, warrior decks, shaman, but this really shook the meta. I even met another guy playing the same deck :D
Hell yeah, great to hear you got legend with it! People indeed don't expect to be facing a Dude Pala right now, the element of surprise works massively in our favor.
I can't believe you had a mirror, that's insane!
I don't usually write comments but this time i've to say this deck is very good. I reached legend from D5 in a couple of hours and deck is also very funny to play. I read in other comments that lots of people changed some cards but i found this decklist very powerfull. 2x of Oh my Yogg made me win some games because people don't know this secret and they never play against it. Correct way to pilot deck is to be aggressive and make correct trades. You have lots of way to generate board and against control decks once you can play lothraxion they are no more able to clear the board. So i have to thank the deck's creator cause i tried to make dude paladin work since i found lothraxion and i finally found best deck to play. I'm pretty sure that if with next expansion there will be some dude cards this deck will be even stronger.
Thank you for the kinds words Triceratops2!
You're completely right when it comes to the way you're supposed to play this deck. Like an old school Midrange Pala and make favorable trades with your DS Dudes. Oh My Yogg is definitely an under-rated card, even if they do know what secret it is, they simply can't play around it, because all of their spells are important and cost a lot, and early on, control decks have to waste their spells into it or get destroyed.
Glad to hear you reached Legend with it and awesome to hear that there are more people who love to play Dude Pala.
Well I have seen the core set cards and Dude Paladin is definitely going a thing in the next meta: Here is what's coming and we have not seen all the cards.
Stand Against Darkness, Righteous Protector, Pursuit of Justice, Warhorse Trainer.
Pursuit of Justice what a great card! can't wait!!
Aye, agreed! We will lose 8 cards out of this current deck. Pursuit of Justice and Warhorse Trainer are probably instant additions.
I don't really know how to say this, I've played 5 matches in mid silver and lost all of them :) maybe I'm bad or maybe recycling all my cards to make this deck was a really poor decision.
You really shouldn't have recycled all your cards for once deck, if a deck is too expensive just don't make it, it's almost never worth it
Honestly, keep on playing, don't let a few losses deter you. Your pocket meta might be a bit different from the rest of us, but if you keep on going, you'll get the hang of it. I have to agree with XyousefX, especially before a rotation, since 8 of these cards will be rotating.
Excellent deck when you know how to pilot it. 34 wins 20 losses win rate 63%. Reached legend second time in a row (last month was Duel Pally) so thanks! I had to make some changes though: - 1 First Day of School, - Murgur Murgurgle + 2 Blessing of Wisdom. It's an easy win when you can pull the dudes combos starting turn 6. But the deck lacked drawing cards thus my changes. Oh My Yogg! wins many games provided it's used at the right moment. Worst matchup for me Evolve shaman and Big druid. Easy wins: weapon rogue, secret mage, face and highlander hunter. Favorable: Pally decks, warlocks, priest (Yogg!)...
Glad to hear you reached Legend with it!
Weapon/stealth Rogue is indeed quite easy, especially if you get your low-cost cards early on, they simply don't get the chance to hit face. Face Hunter somewhat the same thing, and the two heals from the Amber Watchers basically secure the win.
I didn't have any problem drawing the necessary cards most of the time, but each meta and each person has their own style of playing. I actually love hearing that people change cards in decks to suit it to their own needs.
And indeed, Oh My Yogg is powerful. I simply assume that people that haven't got the hang of the deck yet are just throwing it out there on turn one or when they have some spare mana left.
Incredible deck, thanks! D5 to legend losing only 2 games
That's amazing to hear! Glad to see it went that well for you.
Fun Deck it really gets people by surprise I have won 8-out of 10 will keep playing it
thanks for the deck
