Duel Paladin, in my opinion, was already an underrated deck. With so much Pure and Libroom Pally out there, your opponents don't often see it coming.
Barricade turned out to be the perfect new card for this deck, giving you a taunt (or two) to stall out the game a little longer until you can bring the big guns on board.
Testing Runaway Blackwing but, so far, it feels pretty good. If pulled by Commencement it's especially nasty to deal with. It's not sticky like the other BIG minions, but it makes up for it by essentially being a Ragnaros that doesn't go face. Slap a Lightforged Blessing onto it for a big heal.
Mulligan is pretty straightforward. Keep First Day of School and Air Raid always. Probably Barricade, too. Also keep Hand of A'dal if you have a First Day of School in hand.
Archmage Vargoth is less clear cut. Pulled by Commencement he's amazing because he gets a shield AND casts another Commencement. Pulled by Duel! he can die but if he doesn't (he does have 6 health after all) that's another Duel!. So I've changed my thinking on Vargoth as I've climbed up the ladder from keeping it in hand to have more control over its use, to believing the rewards outweigh the risk of putting it back into the deck.
If you're missing one of the big neutral minions you can make substitutions. What you're looking for is big stats and stickiness. Tirion Fordring is a viable substitute with its shied, taunt and weapon as is Evasive Drakonid, which gives you a taunt that can't be targeted by hero powers or spells.
So far I've managed to climb from Silver 10 to Diamond 5 with this deck. We'll see how much farther I can take it.
UPDATE: Tested Snack Run last night in place of Flash of Light and climbed from Diamond 10 to Diamond 5 so I'm going to call that a success. As others have pointed out, not only does it give you heals but also the chance at additional Duels and Commencements as well as other useful spells like Subdue. By and large I prefer cards I can always count on versus cards that are random, but Snack Run pretty much always gives you something useful. The deck has been updated accordingly.
No Amount Of Evidence Will Ever Persuade An Idiot
I just created an account to leave a comment on this deck.
I went from D4 to legend with this deck with 4/5 losses.
The deck is really good and I believe it has no weakness to any other deck on the ladder.
Upokay, i'm starting with this deck at D10........so far, no matter what I try, I cannot get past D9...........here we go...........
First Update: 2-1, Barricade is awesome. I just beat weapon rogue purely thanks to that card and Desperate Measures
Update............i'm so DONE with ladder for now. maybe the rest of this meta. that Prime warlock is stupid. Good luck to you all. no matter what deck you try. BG for me until further notice. geez..........
So, I don't have all the cards to make this deck, but I tried it anyway. I don't have Duel! or Colossus of the Moon. Pretty important cards, I know. But I have Commencement and a bunch of the other non-minion cards and wanted to see what would happen.
Anyway, I rolled my flawed-ass version into casual, and found another paladin right away, first queue, what are the chances he's running the same deck?
I dropped First Day of School and got a Psychic Conjurer. Guess what card I got from that? Duel!
Anyway, when I played Duel!, he rolled his Colossus of the Moon into my Runaway Blackwing and I was very sad.
Thus ends the tale of my first adventure with duel paladin. Thank you for the memories.
Fun i causal but I am gettin crushed in ladder.. BUT i like the deck anyway 😄
The deck isn't flawless. Every so often you'll find yourself with a hand full of big minions and spells you can't use. It didn't happen often enough to keep me from climbing, but I could see how a string of bad luck might impact your impression of this deck. Glad you're having fun anyway, though!
Omega trash tier deck. Draw Duel or lose. Climbed from 4900 legend to 5900 legend. Thank you for the thousand ranks lost with this deck /s
My "How to Make Akrid Lose Ranks at Legend" plan was MONTHS in the making. But I'm glad to see it finally paid off.
You can joke around and downvote whatever you want, but the deck's still hot garbage.
It's lukewarm garbage at worst. ;-)
I guess playing other decks than weapon rogue or agro demon hunter are hard to use homie.
I replaced Colossus with Turalyon cause I don't have it and it's not so good...it may help you sometime but it always dies in 1 turn
That's the cool thing about this deck - there's room to play around with the big minions. I feel the ones I've chosen work best but there are certainly other viable options.
Super zabawna i mocna talia . Z 5 diamentu do legendy bez problemu :) dzieki za tą talie
I have a 60% winrate with this deck between 2k-3k legend on EU. Very fun and versatile.
I meet mainly DH, Rogues and Paladins. It's works very well versus the 2 first, but struggle against libram paladins.
Against combo decks, Duel! can sometime kill a key minion.
You really should have 2 Snack Runs in the deck. Not only are they heals but they can be flexible to your current matchup and board state. Not to mention you occasionally pull even more Duels and Commencements.
very fun
very fun! i personally replaced Lightforged Blessing with Snack Run and it's been helping
Interesting variation. Somewhat less reliable healing but it makes the deck more aggressive. Might be something I give a whirl. But I sure do love sticking a Flash of Light onto a Runaway Blackwing.
Классная колода, именно ей я сегодня взял легенду
