As promised, the deck write up at 4 upvotes or more. I apologize it took me so long.
Mulligan: Always always, and I mean ALWAYS, keep Elemental Allies. It will allow you to draw out your main win conditions. Other good options are Fire Fly Violet Spellwing, Confection Cyclone, and Lesser Ruby Spellstone to start charging that baby up.
Combos/Synergies: Obviously, the main combo here is playing smaller elemental bodies like Fire Fly/Flame Elemental/Sugar Elemental to unleash Grand Finale the next turn. As far as synergies go, elementals are pretty easy to understand. Frost Lich Jaina covers outlasting your opponent and healing. Firework Elemental, Arcanosaur and Gyreworm (aka: the better Fire Plume Pheonix) helps with minion removal and tempo. DO NOT BE AFRAID TO PLAY Firework Elemental UNCORRUPTED. It's still three damage without the corrupt and at least a body on the board. (Though I will say, dealing 12 damage or healing 12 because of it is pretty sweet). Circus Amalgam and Tol'vir Stoneshaper are synergistic taunts you can throw out there, I have considered removing the Stoneshaper for a copy of Tar Creeper. Will get back to you guys on that one. Lastly, Animated Broomstick helps get those 8/8 elementals you just summoned to start moving and help clear the board.
Tips and Tricks: It's rather easy to get a lot of 1 mana elementals stuck in your hand. Don't be afraid to play one or two here and there. They assist with tempo and keeping the "played an elemental last turn" effect moving. It's better to summon less 8/8 elementals than it is to overdraw, lose the turn by turn effect, or lose the game because of it. Because of Elemental Allies and Bonfire Elemental, it's easy to not have enough room for all the spells that Lesser Ruby Spellstone provides. Lastly, make sure you have board space before playing Grand Finale.
Thank you so much for the upvotes and comments. If you have any questions feel free to ask and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Just pulled a Jaina and have been running an elemental deck with Scorch, Ragnaros and Servant of Kalimos as the big changes from this list. I’m loving the play style-finally something different for mage than secrets!
Is this deck still good ? Do you think i should craft jaina ?
The deck still holds up alright in the meta, but I don't think it justifies crafting Jaina
I crafted this deck right, my first deck in Wild since the switch the Standard. I'd argue that Jaina is 100% justified in crafting. I had forgotten just how good she is. I've won 6 out of my last 8 games because of her. The only reason I lost is because I didn't draw her.
Interesting you say so, this deck was made in January's meta but I suppose that even the smallest shifts in the meta can change the game. Thanks for letting me know.
I have always liked playing Elementals even as a shaman and I am playing your deck as I am typing this. Lets hope, I can reach legendary with it
Yes! I loved elemental shaman! It was actually one of my very first decks that I started to play and how I got my love for elementals. Glad you are liking it, best of luck to you.
Hi, I am brand new to the game. I can't find some of these cards when I try crafting?
Like which one? Have you tried to typing the name in the search box?
Don't forget to change the set of cards your searching for to wild collection. ( That icon on the bottom left when your looking at your collection, standard set has an icon of a 'book' right now, wild collection has the icon of 'infinite' symbol)
You probably also have to click on the crafting icon in the bottom little right next to the search bar if you want to craft or see cards you don't have.
My guess is that you were only looking at standard cards instead of wild.
Seems working,i'll see in the next days.
I like this.
Does it work, though? I've never actually played wild, but I always wanted to try Frost Lich Jaina.
Seems like the right way to do it.
Right now it's doing pretty decent in the meta. The biggest problem I kept running into was that I was able to summon a lot of 8/8 elementals, but wasn't able to clear the board. That's when I incorporated Animated Broomstick into the deck.
I was a huge fan of elemental mage in the Knights of the Frozen throne days and was sad to see it go. The reason I made this deck was to see if I could make it work again. While I do love Frost Lich Jaina, I don't think the deck does well enough in ladder to justify crafting her. It's not that the deck does poorly per say, just that there are probably better cards you could spend your dust on than a card that has become less used as of late.
Thanks for the reply :)
One of my biggest boundaries for getting into wild has been a lack of old cards that seem to be really necessary to craft the good decks. I guess that will happen when they've had years of releasing cards.
Yeah, I happened to join hearthstone around the end of the Journey to Un' Goro expansion. Once all my cards finally ended up going over to wild, I crafted a lot of new cards from previous expansions to make my decks actually viable. It's not that that was a bad choice, or that I really regret it, but I will admit the dust would have been better spent otherwise.
What I recommend to you is buying wild expansion packs with leftover gold every once and a while. It's not a super huge commitment like spending your dust would be. Of course you run the risk of not guaranteeing the card you're looking for but over time opening more and more packs should help you start building a card base in wild.
Best of luck to you.
