Just got to Legend with this Doomhammer/Stormstrike Shaman from Diamond 3. I had just 3 losses en route to Legend in one session this evening. I played a similar deck early after Darkmoon release without a lot of success, but decided to give it another go after struggling to make much headway in Diamond 1-5 with my evolve shaman deck. It now seems to be working very well in the current meta with fewer Demon Hunters around.
It's a little off the beaten path, so opponents are not entirely sure what you are playing and you can bluff evolve shaman quite effectively.
Don't be afraid to whittle down the opponents health with un-boosted attacks - you're aiming to reduce their health to a point you can alpha strike them. Be aware of your damage break points (10, 16, 22) with Stormstrikes and Rockbiter Weapons. Double them up with Diligent Notetakers. There are multiple ways to clear out taunts to get your attacks through.
It's still entirely possible to get steam rolled by fast aggro - they are beatable, but need to get luckier than them! Hagatha's Scheme can help you survive just long enough to get a surprise lethal attack in.
any subs for farsight??
Farsight isn't essential, but it's a nice card to have (especially if you hit a Rockbiter or a Stormstrike with it), might be worth a craft if you like to play shaman.
But you might tech in something against popular decks in the meta - for example, ironically one of the hardest matchups is evolve shaman. So if you're seeing a lot of those, perhaps an ooze to take care of their weapon?
Of course an obvious addition to the deck would be Inara Stormcrash, but I have found her unnecessary to make the deck tick.
Seems like you are saying this is a challenging pilot for a new Shaman player? I am a Rogue/Druid player thinking of playing this because Druid is getting wailed on right now in the meta haha! This would be my first go with Shaman, what do you think? I did just randomly draw Fireheart in a reward pack so the craft cost is pretty low.
It's not the easiest to pilot, but not too complicated either, you'll get the hang of it after a few plays. It's worth being aggressive - a few points of damage in the early game can put them in reach of your alpha strike on turn 6/7. Once you play your weapon, you should generally prioritise hitting the player unless you have to clear taunts or avoid dying before you can finish the opponent off.
Crafted it. Plays pretty well, fun deck. Thanks for the upload.
New season and this deck is still winning. 70% win rate Diamond 10 to Diamond 5.
