Hey everyone, I'm Gatormatthew. I finish top 500 on NA every month, and I make educational Hearthstone content. Today's guide is on what might be the most fun deck I've ever played: Miracle Priest. It's a really unique deck that I went 9-6 with in my early legend climb (was in gold ranks, but I have 11x star bonus MMR, so it was vs 11x players). It is also extremely cheap and has an extremely high skill cap, every turn is a journey to think through. Below, I have a written guide where I discuss the deck as well as a YouTube video where I play a few games and commentate my plays, Enjoy!
So, I know what all of you are wondering. "How in the world does that garbage looking list win games?" Frankly, I'm not too sure either. The clear win condition is generating spells with Sethekk Veilweaver. This card is legitimately the only threat generator in the deck, however, we do have two copies of Raise Dead to get more of them. Another easy question to ask is "Why would you put Voracious Reader in this deck?" I have a more clear answer to this one. While it looks crazy, it has inherent synergy with the deck's low-cost spells and Nazmani Bloodweaver. The main problem with Nazmani Bloodweaver with such a low curve is you just run out of steam. There are two ways to remedy this in this list, you can play a Sethekk Veilweaver alongside it to generate value, or you can just play all of your spells and Voracious Reader after it. It essentially acts as a way to cycle and draw, combing well with Nazmani Bloodweaver.
I've tested a lot of different lists of this out and I think there are a lot of ways to take this deck. Ideas I have are things like Idol of Y'Shaarj and G'huun the Blood God. These two cards both work great with discounts and provide you fuel to use later on in the game. However, I actually never really had a problem with running out of steam with this deck. If you do, I'd try these cards. Gift of Luminance is a more practical lategame bomb in my head. It works great when generated, so why not maindeck it? If you see lots of control decks, I would include a copy (the card you cut first from my list is Whispers of EVIL). A point against the Idol and G'huun is that the deck wins through fatigue mostly, not rushing people down.
Mulligan wise, the #1 goal of the deck is to corrupt Insight at all costs. The reason we run so little minions is so this card always gets us a power piece. To mulligan for this, we always keep Insight andPalm Reading. They have incredible synergy together and work well against any style of decks. Against tempo-based matchups, keep Nazmani Bloodweaver. Don't get baited into thinking this is a combo piece, dropping this on turn 3 vs Aggro DH, for example, is a great way to contest their board and corrupt Insight.
If you want to see me play live on Twitch, I stream every weekend from 1pm-3pm EST and every Mon/Wed/Fri from 1:45pm-3:45pm EST. Link to Twitch
I absolutely LOVE decks like this. Even if it doesn't really win well, it is FUN. I just destroyed an evolve shaman. Love it.

romanknight is right Questing Adventurer fits very well.
have gotten me many wins.
rare that i get the Voracious Reader working for me,
how do you feel about nat pagel and soul mirror instead of voracious
Soul mirror could be a good card to discount. I would not replace reader for pagel. Nat has not been a playable card for years
Looks interesting. 2 questions.
Can you explain why galakrond is bad? Seems like a perfect fit to me.
Can you survive vs. Demon Hunter? Seems like you would be a sitting duck vs. All that weapon and face damage.
Demonhunter is a weakness of this deck for sure.
Galakrond is a card that for the last two expansions has shown to be a horrible card in Control Priest. This deck hates having a 7 drop. If it plays one, it has to be really good, galakrond is not. (For context, galakrond WAS slightly run in Control Priest last expac because of Disciple of Galakrond being one of the best 1 drops possible. The hero itself was a poor stats-wise card.)
Thanks for reply. Any way to tweak deck to make DH matchup 50%. I just dont want to play anything right now that cant go at least even with DH. They are just too common.
Well, lucky for you, DH is being nerfed in a few hours :)
1-4 at D5. 3 of my losses involved just never drawing Veilweaver. Not sure how others have fared, but it strikes me as a fairly inconsistent deck, unless you're able to get value from the readers against aggro, by dumping your hand and drawing. Against value/control decks, you just sit there with a hand full of spells you can't use.
interesting deck. haven't tried it but cool to see someone thinking "outside the box". upvote
-1 forbidden words +1 C`thun, The Shattered :)
Any ways to improve this deck? i have added Catrine Muerte and galakrond insted of the Voracious Readers
Would not recommend those inclusions at all. This is the deck I would rock with. Catrine Muerte would ress 2/3s and galakrond is just a useless card.
Thinking about adding Shattered C'Thun to this. Should be enough card draw to make it relevant, and provides a direct win condition, too.
Would not reccomend it. Deck has a direct win condition: fatigue.
1-2 for me so far in Diamond. One game against an OTK DH where the only minions I drew were Voracious readers and had a hand full of spells I couldn't use. But it's fun when it goes off!
I am having great fun with this! As someone says - I have no idea what I am doing, but somehow I usually win :)
Thank you Gatormatthew_, you are a gentleman and a scholar.
Thank you for the kind words :)
This is the strangest deck I played with: I loose very often (because I'm not good at it), but it is still absolutely fun to play. And as you say: When I'm winning, I don't no exactly why. Thank you !
Good to hear!
