After running into 3 Reno Priests in a roll and defeating them with relative ease, I decided to post this deck for all to enjoy. This Reno Hunter deck utilities the Recruit/deathrattle package to target control decks, and the secret/highlander package to survive the aggro decks.
First up, let me tell you why this deck absolutely kills Reno Priest (RP). RP is strong because it has consistent and premium board clear, sustained damage in late game, and Mindrender for combo decks. Now we are not combo decks, so Mindrender does nothing against us. For the majority of the matchup against RP, i was able to close off the game 3 or 4 turns after reaching 10 mana, so if our gameplan is working, they won’t be using their hero powers on our face. Lastly, board clear. I really think Kathrena is a must keep against all Priest decks. It is the number one enabler in this deck against control decks, and it is not susceptible to board clear with its deathrattle. Too many times my opponents cleared up board, thinking they were safe at around 15 health, but my Kathrena pulled a charge beast, and together with Bran or Wildclaw in hand, i just closed off the game on the spot. The thing is nowadays RP doesn’t run silence very often, and that really gives this deck a lot of edge.
Next up, single card evaluation:
Newest cards released, Mystery Winner and Rinling Rifle: good card overall to help survive against aggro. Mystery Winner is so fanatic i think it is auto included in all current and future Reno Hunter decks, and the majority of other Hunter decks. Rinling Rifle offers the same flexibility, albeit a bit slower, hence not as good as Mystery winner. Still, its a decent tool in our deck. (I really feel Rinling Rifle belongs to the catagory of cards which at its current mana it’s pretty bad, but 1 mana less it would be kinda broken)
Core cards: Kathrena, Charge beasts, Bran, and Wildclaw: these cards are what allow us to quickly finish the game off after 10 mana. Kathrena, as previously mentioned, best enabler in the deck. Charge beasts are essentially the fuel of Kathrena, which allow us to attack immediately after they get recruited via battlecry. Bran is another way to start shredding down the enemy’s health. Wildclaw, in my opinion, is as great as Kathrena in this deck. All of my three recent encounters with RP ended up with me either copying Charged Devilsaur or King Krush for lethal with Wildclaw. That’s around half the enemy’s health, and btw 2 of the priests have alr used their Reno.
Secret Weapon, Beastmaster Leoroxx: Leoroxx in my opinion is a better Oondasta. If your Kathrena option failed because you draw your big beasts, Leoroxx can help you end the game in another equally surprising and effective manner. Sometimes, you may have to Deathstalker early for boardclear. Well then, if you want to kill your opponents asap, try finding charge beasts or Rhino with your hero power. If you are looking to survive, try finding lifesteal and taunt. Leoroxx really helps dump your Zombeasts efficiently for lethal for survival. Overall, it does not feel too slow, surprisingly, and it really is a value piece of the deck.
Overall, i have been playing this deck for a few seasons straight, and it does receive some upgrades this expansion. It’s one the most consistent decks against RP last expansion, and my personal experience tells me it still it. It is however very expensive. I received many of the legendaries either as my pre-order legendary or free legendary, thus i was lucky to own and pilot it early on. I wish to present this deck as a gift to all Hunter enthusiasts, as well as players who just like to smash opponents’ face with humongous charging beasts:)
Hello how does this perform after dinotamer nerf? Im aware you can no longer brann into wildclaw.
This deck gets farmed by Shaman and Mage and Paladin.
Have no dust, how about Houndmaster Shaw or Professor Putricide ?
Professor doesn’t work very well in this deck. Hound master, on the other hand, is a card you can include, but it doesn’t work as well as Rifle against aggro. I really think Rinling’s Rifle is a pretty ok card to slot in any hunter decks that wish to go to the mid or late game
did u hit legend with this deck caz i can feel it is working fine here ? :(
I hit legendary with this deck last season. It’s actually competitively viable, and very few people know it’s win con. Still remember the last game before legend. Playing against odd rogue. I was at 1 health, the rogue killed my Teacher’s Pet and was about to dagger my face, but the Teacher’s pet summon a 3/3 bear with taunt. Then I Bran into Wildclaw for lethal. Really a rollar coaster ride. So in short, you can absolutely hit legend with this deck, but it does require some time to get used to how to pilot it.
Rinling's Rifle replacements?
If you like playing hunter you should craft it if you’ve got the dust, extremely good card due to being so versatile.
I’m thinking about crafting both Leoroxx (Regretting that i de’d my golden one) and Dred for this deck, would you say it’s worth it? Thanks for posting the list, brotherman.
Leoroxx is a pretty sweet legendary, and it will get better if HS prints more big beasts for Hunter, thus I think it’s a pretty solid investment. Whereas for Dred, if you don’t have it, you could also slot in Oondasta. I just find the 9/9 body a really solid pile of states. Thanks for the interest bro!
