To Arms Men!

Hello once again. Daddy Scarlet is back at it with another Wild grind. With a win-rate of 64% and record of 41-23, I have hit Legend in Season 80, November 2020, using Odd Paladin with some new goodies from Madness at the Darkmoon Faire. With the surge of Highlander Priest and Big Priest being even higher, this run to Legend this month was quite difficult, as Highlander Cards tend to rob people of games, including myself. With the ability to spam "Dudes", this deck aims to win the board and never let it go. Baku the Mooneater allows for this deck to function with some internal synergies that the Paladin class has.

My Match-Up Stats:

Demon Hunter: 0-1

Druid: 8-5

Hunter: 2-0

Mage: 5-5

Paladin: 6-3

Priest: 8-5

Rogue: 3-2

Shaman: 1-2

Warlock: 6-0

Warrior: 2-0

Overall Game Plan

We want to own the board while being as mana-efficient as possible. To do this, we want to abuse our upgraded Hero Power, The Silver Hand, as much as we can. Spamming the board with Silver Hand Recruit tokens as much as possible, while taking appropriate trades when necessary will get the win. To beat out other aggressive decks, our hyper-efficient Hero Power will allow for us to make the board ours and win over trades in most cases. As for control, we want to either explode as much as possible with as many stats as we can, or we grind it out with our Hero Power as well. Every Silver Hand Recruit counts.

Mulligans

This deck loves going second, as The Coin gives much more powerful opening turns. Cards like Lost in the Jungle, Tour Guide, Muster for Battle, Crystology, and Righteous Protector are very good and almost always worth keeping in your opener.

Specific Mulligans

This deck can be overwhelming with options when it comes to our starting hand. Our Sidequest, Righteous Cause, I found to be a great keep under the right circumstances. For instance, going first, it can be very good into a Hero Power followed up by Muster for Battle.

Against Priest, Shaman, Warlock and Mage, I kept exactly one Oh My Yogg!. (Sniping a Quest card is so satisfying.) For the sake of these classes running the most board clears at the heaviest cost, this Secret is very solid disruption against these classes in particular. If you are going first and are more-inclined to look for the best opener as possible, feel free to toss this back.

Card Substitutions

Dude Power!!!

This deck has a lot of Silver Hand Recruit support/synergy in it. We have Warhorse Trainer as a 'Lord' (a card that buffs certain cards as an aura effect) and Quartermaster as a way to permanently buff our dudes already on the board. Lothraxion the Redeemed is icing on the armored cake, allowing for grindy games to come to a halt with additional buffs and Divine Shield on each Silver Hand Recruit we summon after playing him. We can also buff our abundance of soldiers with Steward of Darkshire, Carnival Barker, Blessed Maul/Purifier's Maul (off the original Unidentified Maul), and even Blessing of Might.

 Sweep Away the Competition

With Animated Broomstick in our deck, along with some Divine Shield synergy and buffs, we can combat aggro opponents quite well. The abundance of other aggro players, such as Aggro Druid, other Odd Paladins, Discolocks, and Mech Paladin, makes Animated Broomstick an essential tutor target for Crystology to hit. I also find it worth mentioning that it works with Carnival Barker and Steward of Darkshire. This all together makes the two copies of Animated Broomstick a lot stronger than they may seem at first glance.
