Blizzard will plant one Greybough in the Amazon forest for each Resurrect Priest defeated with this deck.
Not the best/easiest deck to play, long games (your win condition is literally a forest grown from scratch) thus it's not recommended for fast laddering. The % is there just because I don't care about percentages over small pool of games, nor I think the deck is truly optimized (still working on it, feel free to try and suggest any change).
Cheers lads!
Edit: Thank you for your support, I'm glad that you are finding the deck at least enjoyable!
Introduction
This deck is a variant of the old Hadronox Druid that I decided to make after I found Greybough as my first legendary in the Darkmoon Fairie pack opening. I though this would have been only a meme and fun deck, but I found it to be more efficient than I initially thought.
The goal of the deck is to either outplay aggro with a lot of taunts, or to compete with control decks in the late value game. The plan is simple: play a lot of Taunt minions, let them die and resurrect them with N'Zoth, the Corruptor and multiple Hadronox (it can be resurrected by both N'Zoth, the Corruptor and Witching Hour).
Even though the plan of the deck is pretty straightforward, there are few things to keep in mind (depending on the opponent's deck mostly):
1) If you are facing a class with lots of Silence effects, you should use your resources wisely. This means that:
-You shouldn't be afraid to use your Archmage Vargoth to bait our one Silence, since it's not fundamental to your gameplan (and, most of the time, Priest and slower DH will silence it if they cannot kill it on the spot). If you are facing an aggressive deck, your opponent will mostly silence anything you play during the early game (e.g., Archspore Msshi'fn or Rotten Applebaum) so try to prevent Silence or transform effects when playing Greybough in that case.
-The main play of this deck is to drop lots of Taunts, then resurrecting them with Hadronox. You should always play Hadronox at turn 10, and then Naturalize it to fill again your board. This allows you to resurrect Hadronox again using Witching Hour lately in the game.
NB: When facing Mages with Polimorph, Shamans with Hex or any Hihglander deck with Zeph, remember that the token Sheep and Frog are BEASTS, so they can screw up your combo. If you cannot avoid transformation effects, try to kill your own Hadronox, resurrect him with N'Zoth, the Corruptor and kill it again (If you manage to, cube him) to increase your chance to resurrect him via Witching Hour.
-The strongest play of the deck is Witching Hour resurrecting Hadronox followed by Carnivorous Cube. This way you will create a strong board against most of the clears (the only exception being Psychic Scream, so try to play around that aiming to have a follow up plan - i.e., N'zoth in your hand).
-Archspore Msshi'fn is a 5 stars card in this deck. I'll be honest. when I opened him few months ago I was slightly disappointed, but I rapidly changed my mind: the versatility of this card is insane. It is a good anti-aggro tool, it can easily be a 2 for 1 if played early, and - due to its Deathrattle - adds tons of value to the late game if resurrected via both Hadronox or N'Zoth, the Corruptor.
-Last, but not least, let's talk about our woody friend Greybough. With so many ways to resurrect him, this card is amazing: Just be sure to play him when you have at least one more minion on the board (obviously), and to be afraid to trade with him as much as you can. You should always aim to take advantage of his Deathrattle: e.g., you should trade with him first, then trade with the minion that gained his Deathrattle, so that you can trade again to keep Greybough rolling. Also, cubing Greybough on an empty board and then using Naturalize on the Cube will give you 3 Greybough that requires basically six 6-Attack minions for a full clear (you can do this play at turn 9 or 10 using Lightning Bloom).
Final Notes: Even though the deck playstyle is kind of straightforward, the main difficulty is represented by the fact that you must constantly control your resurrecting pool to increase your best outcomes.
Against aggro decks, you probably won't play your full combo, and you should not be afraid to use Naturalize as a defensive tool more than your Combo enabler: so, you should play Greybough and let it stick as much as you can, so that you will resurrect him with N'zoth (maybe coupled with Rotten Applebaum).
Against Control and slow deck, you want Archspore Msshi'fn in your resurrect pool as much as you can: with his Deathrattle you can compete in the value game in the late stages of the match, and you will delay fatigue significantly (and this might let you win on the long run).
Card that I am testing now:
I was thinking to add Animated Broomstick to speed up trades with Greybough and Carnivorous Cube. I will keep you update!
As Jurke39 suggested, Terrorfiend Escapee can be an option if you are struggling against ress Priest!
I hope you have fun with this deck! Feel free to suggest any changes you are doing to this list, I eager to hear your inputs!
Cheers!
Bow deeply before you Master! What the **ck is happening on that board :D
Made my day!
Yep, that's exactly my first reaction when I saw all those trees! Glad you enjoy the deck! :)
Nice deck but still hard to defend against aggro decks
I know it's a though one, Oaken Summons into Archmage Vargoth is the best play against aggro and most depends if you draw it in time or not! I think you have your chance even though it's a hard matchup, as I wrote at the beginning of the guide I'm sure there are better decks to climb.
Ty for your comment btw!
Currently 0-6 on this. Really don't understand how to win.
Will keep playing to make achv 200 Greybough and update statistics
Stopping right now at 8-15 (34%).
Worst statistics is paladin (0-4) and shaman (0-3).
I'll try Vincstein deck with. Will update
Sorry to hear that! Obviously the deck is more fun than performant, and you have to be quite familiar with old Hadronox druid to pilot it at its best. Also, I think Greybrough is a high skill-demanding card, and also for me it's hard to play it well sometimes.
The goal is to stall the game until your opponent go out of resources, or to finish it in one-two turns with a full sticky board.
Again, this is not a ladder-breaking deck and I recently stopped playing a bit due to Blizzard's changes, so I cannot give any real and reliable statistic about %winrate.
I hope atleast that you found the deck somehow fun to play!
Unfortunately even with my change at legend it's extremly hard to win.......
Stopped at 20-32 (38.5%)
I get what i wanted from this deck -- achievment for 200 Greybough.
This deck is fun, when you can do a combo. but at 80% of the games you are dead before turn 5 :-(
In my last game i did smth like 40-50 Greybough, but still lost to a espionage rogue)
I must say that I can't stop climbing the rank legend with my version this evening…. It's not so worst against all deck (rez priest, reno priest with are good matchup and against aggro it's possible to manage them!). It's really depending but it's possible
Great idea. After playing this deck at diamond rank (not really good more than a fun deck) i made some changement that i estimate better :
- Replacement Ironwood Golem by Zul'Drak Ritualist
- Incorporate The Lich King wich is a great taunt and give you a lot of good card
- Change Rising Winds by Guess the Weight like mention before
- And finally add one Juicy Psychmelon. It's permits to be sure to get Hadronox, The Lich King and N'Zoth, the Corruptor or Archspore Msshi'fn prime! Instead of Bogbeam
Thanks for sharing! Lot of fun with hadronox despite that many deck (aggro and OTK deck for exemple) smashes us
Can you post your exact code ? Can figure exactly what you removed
So you removed 2 ironwood golem to put 1 Zul'drak ritualist and 1 Lich King ?

Very nice changes on the list! And I'm happy you had fun with this deck, even though is not truly a competitive one!
Great deck man, but this game is way toxic now. Too much matchmaking and false rng. Hadronox in bottom deck waiting for tickatus, aggro braindead winning you by turn 4/5 'cause u draw hadronox, spells and nothing else useful against 7minions by turn 4.
I love hadronox, but this deck isn't viable in any ladder. MAybe without tickatus and maybe if they balance aggro decks in wild and standard this can be bonkers, but right now, too slow and the Rigged system of trashstone doesn't help.
Still have my like.
Thanks mate! Yeah I know, very hard to play a control deck with Tickatus around these times. It's more a fun deck than other..but this is the only way I can have fun in HS nowadays :)
Glad you liked the list anyway!
Liked? I'm still playing - I lost to many strange decks, even if ladder in wild are full of aggros, they seem to not appear when I play this deck. What a deck man! Very funny, destroy aggro completely sometimes, are the ones I really want to face but I don't face, or when I face i Draw all high mana cards early game...
I lost to many murloc mill decks - The new legendary is bonkers
I almost lost to a druid with 3k armor, but, since I discovered A 1 mana spell jade I survived enough to rip him off his entire armor after 1hour of game and a lot of Jade spell shufled in it. The guy didn't believe and kept roping all turns, I was kinda mad at him so I said to myself - Dude, I will fuck you, even if take days. So I won in The end, with him drawing his life by 50life+ per draw. Insane game =)
I still love this game but right now I'm feeling shafted. I'm going to Runeterra and wait to see what will happen with HS
Sadly this is my last expansion and I didn't liked much of the cards printed, specially the old gods.
EDIT: After face so many mill/armor stall decks and die by drawing cards with empty deck i decided to cut an eagle for a JAde Spell1 it's working fine against Mill Rogue and other stupid decks that do nothing untill u draw ur deck and ur life and ur dignity.
Thanks, bye!
Can't we use something else thanRising Winds to garantee a good Witching Hour with Hadronox ?
you use it for draw not for a minion
