Odd Paladin list using new cards from Darkmoon. I was able to get a 72% win rate from D3 to Legend today. Only a couple new cards however they really increase the power level of the deck by quite a bit.
Carnival Barker is an insane card in odd paladin and your most valuable card before Quartermaster can be played. Not only does it buff your hero power tokens but it can also effect Animated Broomstick, Righteous Protector, and Tour Guide. This can make for some very large swing turns upon spawning a bunch of buffed minions and giving them all rush.
Lothraxion the Redeemed adds a lot of survivability when going up against slower control match ups. Having a constant supply of divine shield minions makes it a lot harder to always have answers to your plays.
I was considering Day at the Faire as a replacement for Muster for Battle however the only way to corrupt it is to play one of the few 5 mana cards or Baku. So I felt overall the ability to always guarantee a 1/4 weapon was better in most match ups than having two more tokens maybe.
Just wanted to say thanks for the deck. It got me the 12-consecutive-ranked-wins achievement (bronze 1 to gold 7) while I was trying to earn the give-your-recruits-divine-shield achievement.
I don't like having to craft a Legendary for an aggro deck, but I've had a good Odd paladin list since Witchwood so it feels like I need Lothraxion at this point...
What's the best mulligan?
The first few turns are important so having a strong tempo early is key. To that end Tour Guide is a must keep for a turn one 3 minion play. Another good option is to keep Righteous Cause and try to trigger it on turn 2-3. In most match ups having a board of 2/2 minions is good to counter token druid or early Spirit Lash plays. I would say Carnival Barker is worth keeping in most match ups however don't play it until you can get some value out of it. It pairs nicely with Lost in the Jungle on turn 4 or 3 with the coin.
Thank you.
Do you have any advice against control? It's an awesome deck, but I get absolutely smacked against control. Especially priest. Right now, I'm trying out the version with Oh My Yogg!
Control can be a tricky match up, you mostly have to go all in early and hope they can't wipe your board over and over. If you get to turn 6+ against a Reno Priest then you your chances of winning go way down. To that end replacing the secret and Blessing of Authority with Oh My Yogg! is a good change if you are facing off against a lot of priests. It can stop board wipes and maybe prevent giant priest from summon a large minon.
I've been playing a bunch of Big Priest this season, and I will say a well-timed Oh My Yogg! can steal games more effectively than any other card in this deck
It takes me two days to get legend with this deck. my winrate was 81%. I'm so impressed it's almost as broken as an old undertaker hunter, but in naxx meta was no reno and cheap removals so mb it's even more broken. thanks friend
I'm stuck @ r2 and r1.. atm control decks beat me every time :/
The list is calibrated to do more effectively against mirror match or token Druid. However with any aggressive style deck you are at a disadvantage against control if you they can stabilize around turn 5-7. So without specific niche interactions or situations you simply want to go all in against control in the early game and hope to outpace their removal. On the flip side Divine Favor is useful in these matchups so you can refill if they manage to wipe your board over and over the first few turns.
Deck is so good.10-1 atm.
Fantastic deck. Strong. I'm at D3 because of it. Struggled with mages so i put in some secret removal in my deck.
Control can beat it if they have removal tools early, but otherwise this deck will beat most decks. It doesn't let tickatus warlock or raza priest even come out.
I like the list. I've played a lot of this deck and I've never been a huge fan of the blessing of mights. What are your thoughts on libram of justice? I find that one can squeeze out a game I have no business winning. I also might want to mess with balloon merchant, but but lothraxion would make it weak. (Also I threw in an Oh My Yogg just for the surprise factor)
I mostly use blessing of authority to get a competitive edge against other aggro decks since we would usually trade minions one for one. If you are playing against more control or demon warlock then a Libram of Justice might be a good fit.
Oh my yogg is a fine choice since it can essentially counter a board removal at times. Although almost all my games were against other odd paladins or token druid so the spells were a little easier to handle.
Balloon merchant is four mana so it wouldn't work in an odd list, but would be a fine addition to a pure paladin list.
