Hey everyone, Saturos (the man behind http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/45379-saturos-new-meta-aggro-mage) here. Decided to rep the mage again after GvG.
It is a secrets mage deck which relies on tempo to get ahead and just destroy your opponent through free secrets and "innervated" unstable portal minions.
I made this deck almost instantly after GvG was released and hadn't really done any ranking up this season before it. So, I rode this deck to legend in under 3 days.
It has gone through some changes since I first made it.
Changelog:
1) -1 lil exorcist +1 ethereal arcanist
2) -1 ice barrier +1 counter spell
3) -1 ethereal arcanist +1 fireball
The first two changes were mostly due to less and less hunters. The 1 fireball just is a lot more consistent than the arcanist and your secrets don't often stick around that long.
About the cards:
You may notice there aren't many GvG cards in here. But, GvG made the deck as a whole a lot stronger and the GvG cards that are included (namely unstable portal) are huge.
- Clockwork Gnome: This card is sometimes the mvp. Not only is a third 1 drop nice, the spare part works with sorc apprentices, mana wyrms, and most importantly archmage. Turn 8 archmage + stealth is absurd.
- Snowchugga: I'm pretty sure running only 1 of this card is correct. It can win some games vs warr/hunter on its own and deserves a spot for that, but it often is just a river croc. He rounds out the 2 drops to 5 (7 with portals) which is also a healthy spot in my opinion.
- Unstable Portal: Not a lot to say here. Most of you already know this card is crazy. But, sorc apprentice makes it even better. Turn 3 sorc + portal is awesome. Turn 1 wyrm, turn 2 sorc + coin + portal is even awesomer. Two sorcs make unstable portal free.
Notes: Mulligan for your 1 and two drops. If you are going second, you can attempt to hold onto kirin tor + mirror entity, but it is a bit risky if you don't have a 1 drop to go with it. Try and save the spare part for archmage, but it isn't necessary. Play mad scientists ASAP so that you can assure value out of them and preferably get mirror entity. Sorc apprentice is often a better turn 3 play than 2, since you can combo it with frostbolt or portal. Try your best to duplicate something worthwhile (mostly just not a clockwork or mad scientist). Even mana wyrn is ok. Sludge belcher duplicate is super strong, especially vs aggro. I don't think I have to mention that duplicate on sylvanas or archmage is also great.
What would you suggest as a replacement for Archmage Antonidas if I don't have it?

I tried between this and Mech Mage and I like the playstyle of this deck better than the Mech Mage. I am in rank 5 now and still on winning streak. Is there any tech card we can use since I play against Implosion Zoo quite often in rank 5?
So I'm rank 15, I know, not that high, but problem is at this rank it's absolutely filled with aggro. I've won all of the control matches and mid game matches, which is really nice. However, I've lost every single aggro match even with a good starting hand. So I would say wait till higher ranks to play this deck or wait till the meta slows down because there is just no answer for cancer rush decks in this particular deck. No hate, fun deck, just stating my opinion!
If you have problems with aggro decks, replace some card you have no use with, with a blizzard. Why blizzard is so good against aggro decks is because:
1. They never see it coming because most mages run flamestrike
2. 1 mana difference can turn a game upside down
3. Even though 2 dmg is nothing compared to flamestrikes 4 dmg, most of the aggro decks run cards with really low HP, that 4 dmg isn't necessary. Plus if they were not to die from the blizzard, there is still the freeze effect.
Anyways, if you were to go up against a lot of rogues, I would tip you to use 2 fireballs, because rogues loses their HP really fast. I actually just recently won a game because I had 2 fireballs instead of 1.
Though everything goes down to personal preferences, these are some tips for you.

KIRIN Tor MAGE IS SUCH A DEAD CARD, it doenst help at all. i would remplace them but i dont know what play instead

I lied. Right after I posted, an opponent reminded me of the turn 3 concede. That's infinitely more satisfying.

Thanks for the deck. Test run at ranks 12-10 was quite satisfying 11 wins 5 losses. Struggles a little against aggro, but in general any matchup is doable.Huge thing the deck is not that common, so many people don't know what they're facing.
This deck keeps getting wrecked by those annoying mech tempo rogues.
This is what I'd think. This deck looks weak to Mech Mage/Rogue and Zoo.
