Hey everyone, Saturos (the man behind http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/45379-saturos-new-meta-aggro-mage) here. Decided to rep the mage again after GvG.

It is a secrets mage deck which relies on tempo to get ahead and just destroy your opponent through free secrets and "innervated" unstable portal minions.

I made this deck almost instantly after GvG was released and hadn't really done any ranking up this season before it. So, I rode this deck to legend in under 3 days.


It has gone through some changes since I first made it.

1) -1 lil exorcist +1 ethereal arcanist

2) -1 ice barrier +1 counter spell

3) -1 ethereal arcanist +1 fireball

The first two changes were mostly due to less and less hunters. The 1 fireball just is a lot more consistent than the arcanist and your secrets don't often stick around that long.

About the cards:

You may notice there aren't many GvG cards in here. But, GvG made the deck as a whole a lot stronger and the GvG cards that are included (namely unstable portal) are huge.

- Clockwork Gnome: This card is sometimes the mvp. Not only is a third 1 drop nice, the spare part works with sorc apprentices, mana wyrms, and most importantly archmage. Turn 8 archmage + stealth is absurd.

- Snowchugga: I'm pretty sure running only 1 of this card is correct. It can win some games vs warr/hunter on its own and deserves a spot for that, but it often is just a river croc. He rounds out the 2 drops to 5 (7 with portals) which is also a healthy spot in my opinion.

- Unstable Portal: Not a lot to say here. Most of you already know this card is crazy. But, sorc apprentice makes it even better. Turn 3 sorc + portal is awesome. Turn 1 wyrm, turn 2 sorc + coin + portal is even awesomer.  Two sorcs make unstable portal free.

Notes: Mulligan for your 1 and two drops. If you are going second, you can attempt to hold onto kirin tor + mirror entity, but it is a bit risky if you don't have a 1 drop to go with it. Try and save the spare part for archmage, but it isn't necessary. Play mad scientists ASAP so that you can assure value out of them and preferably get mirror entity. Sorc apprentice is often a better turn 3 play than 2, since you can combo it with frostbolt or portal. Try your best to duplicate something worthwhile (mostly just not a clockwork or mad scientist). Even mana wyrn is ok. Sludge belcher duplicate is super strong, especially vs aggro. I don't think I have to mention that duplicate on sylvanas or archmage is also great.
