I decided I would hit try to grind for legend and since I main Shaman I took 3e Anura's decklist in late August and hit Platinum trying to learn it. I took the then-list (it's changed since), removed the slurpers and added Electra and one Mana Tide totem for the September grind.
Her/His list will have strategy, there's tons of videos out there for odd shaman with different variations. This is just mine, but I'll quickly speak on behalf of Electra since the original list didn't run it, and I see others with no Electra.
For me, Electra is a superstar. The 4 mana play with her and storm's wrath is often just game winning if there is even anything resembling a board, and Electra + Lavaburst is an effective way to close out games when the opponent is about to get everything turned around when nothing else can possibly do because of taunts or similar.
I found Mana Tide totem to be generally more useful than other cards I tried to slot in over the run, such as Loatheb, Ras Frostwhisper, Speaker Gidra, Lady Vagina, Chief Inspector (saw a lot of secret mage at one point), the slurpers for matches where 'whose is bigger' were sharp, such as vs. pirate rogue, demon hunters, similar aggressive decks.
I hit Legend with it. It destroyed from Bronze 10 to Platinum 5, at what I would guess was around 75% win rate back when I kept up with the stats. After that honeymoon period the deck probably hit a more realistic 60% win rate from Plat 5, to Diamond 10. It was definitely about 50% for 20-30 matches at Diamond 5, but something in the meta shifted and suddenly it just took off. It went from Diamond 3 2 stars to legend with no losses.
