Is there a substitute for fresh scent I don’t wanna have to buy an expansion for a card lol

fresh scent is a common card, why not craft it?

how is this mate, also is there a better face hunter, or is this the one? (I've been away for 3 expacs) I just want a reliable face deck for fast ladder climbing. I have a control warrior deck which will be my main, but sometimes you just need a fast deck. 

seems hunter might be the best choice right now, but I want to make sure I get the right cards. If it comes down to one being more fun to play, but a slightly worse win rate, I tend to go for the fun deck. I like beast decks as well, so I am drawn to this. 

I had a great beast/mech hybrid deck last I was playing, but most of my cards from that deck are gone from standard now. 

Yes, the Face hunter is among the best decks, I also took it to the Master Tour Qualifiar and it is also quite cheap. The best deck is pure Face, so if you want to do Legend I don't recommend this one. If you want to have fun and you like beasts this is a great deck. In order not to waste the dust you can play Dragonbane instead of Shan'do, so you try the beast variant but you also have the legendary for the real Face Hunter deck. ;)
