[SA][14W-5L] Antonidas Exodia Mage
In case you don't know the combo yet:
Step 1: Get The Coin from Licensed Adventurer
Step 2: Sorcerer's Apprentice + Sorcerer's Apprentice + Potion of Illusion + Sorcerer's Apprentice + Sorcerer's Apprentice + Potion of Illusion + Frost Nova OR Blizzard OR nothing (lol) if the enemy board can't kill you the next turn.
Step 3: Archmage Antonidas + The Coin + Sorcerer's Apprentice + Sorcerer's Apprentice + Sorcerer's Apprentice + Sorcerer's Apprentice = INFINITE 0 mana Fireball
I am currently 14-5 with this deck. The solid draw engine (usually you can draw all the cards you need to win in 9 to 12 turns) and the freezing spells are great to get all the combo pieces. Don't waste your aoe freezing, use Ray of Frost if you are not dead the next turn.
I am facing a lot of paladins and some druids, this deck is quite strong versus them, because you can basically freeze their board forever. Versus aggro it's harder, an early Doomsayer can buy you a lot of time, then you can just contest the board with your smaller minions such as Questing Explorer and Licensed Adventurer.
Versus priests you win unless they play Mindrender Illucia
Remember: SAVE YOUR AOE FREEZING SPELLS! You only have 4 of them and you almost always need one to setup the exodia.
You can replace Loot Hoarder with Bloodmage Thalnos
Trying it currently with slight changes: -1 lab partner + bloodmage, -1 studies + prime, - 1 licensed adventurer +1 ickle
Fun to play with a friend, currently no huge success on ladder :D too slow
Thanks for it though!
It looks really interesting, but in my experience it has been too slow for just about anything except Priest. This build focuses solely on draw, and has nothing for survival. The freeze spells do nothing against weapons, there is no taunt, no way to restore life. I have been consistently too slow against aggro and tempo decks. Might be cool to pull off the combo in turn 12, but in 95% of my games I have been dead by turn 8. Four AoE spells are all that you have, and that's nowhere near enough to survive 10 to 12 turns. Rogue destroys me, Libra Paladin does, Druid does, Bomb Warrior does, Aggro Demon Hunter and Warrior do.
Basically this deck has been good against Priest for me, and bad to horrible against all the other classes. Probably I am piloting it wrongly. How do you survive until you can pull off the combo?
Vs rogue you lose most of the times, but it's obvious since aggro beats combo. Versus paladin i am currently 12-3 (8-2 vs druid), just use Ray of Frost instead of your aoe when you can, it's fine if you take some damage, just stay above 10 health so they can't kill you with the weapon.. also in the mulligan i always keep Archmage Antonidas or Sorcerer's Apprentice.
Druid most of the times can't answer your Doomsayer, you can play it after a freeze or after they play ramp cards, so you basically get a free turn.
You can try to play Devolving Missiles, very good against paladin buffs and rogue stealthed minions / Edwin VanCleef. I have not tested it tho, probably you have to cut out Primordial Studies and one Licensed Adventurer.
If you face a lot of aggro decks, you have two options, the first one is to switch deck (lol), the second one is to edit the list a little, maybe by adding Firebrand or Combustion or Rolling Fireball.
Btw this is not a tier 0 deck or anything like that, you have to be lucky in matchups and lucky when you draw cards. In the end it's just an exodia deck in standard that works sometimes!
Thank you for the help. Devolving Missiles is a good addition that I like better than Primordial Studies. The latter didn't do much for me anyway. Unfortunately it hasn't been enough for me. I am facing aggro and tempo decks most of the time, and this deck just does not do too well against them. So for me it has not been viable on ladder. Maybe it's better once you hit legend. If you are facing a lot of tempo decks as I do, it's better to use another deck.
Really impressive list, the only list I have seen that makes exodia viable tbh
Thank you man. I have just made it to diamond 5 with this list and i am still going up. Maybe i will update the description of the deck after i learn more things about matchups.
Dude I am playing your list at legend with 70% winrate, I honestly thought I had wasted my dust when I crafted the other exodias, super grateful for this solid deck.
*Edit: just pray you don't face rogues lol
