My day one Scholomance deck list, will include a full write up after playing more games. Hit legend with an 85% win rate from rank 4 1 star.
Any cards I can substitute a teferi or a sneaky counterspell in the list? I just unpacked elsepth conquers death in golden and would like to use it!!! thanks!!!
Sadly Teferi, Hero of Dominaria can't be replaced, there are a fair amount of solid counter spell options however. I recommend main decking one to two copies of Dovin's Veto four copies of Absorb, three to four copies of Censor (Just to stop them playing on curve and to cycle later on in the game) and two copies of Neutralize. Save up your wild cards for at least three copies of Teferi, Hero of Dominaria, he's core and very important for providing you with efficient draw and as a way to untap your mana to play your instants.
Any update this season? I'm sticking with Kobold Stickyfinger and oscillate between Mindflayer Kaahrj and Eater of Secrets.
I've been playing MTGA recently so I haven't played much this season. When I come back I'll update the list(s).
Thanks for this dck i liked it, i dont like the sphere of sepiance i play instead kobold sticky finger, but i dont like this choice too xD anyway thanks i hit legend for the first time with it from 3 to legend without any loose
Congratulations! glad you enjoyed playing it.
What's the downside to running Gluttonous Ooze instead of Acidic Swamp Ooze?
Just the one mana difference and a turn 2 play. The reason I ran it was because I didn't see many kingsbane lists at the time. I've swapped to Gluttonous Ooze since then.
What do you think of Mindrender Illucia ? I find her very good vs quest mages. Is it a most have in the current meta ?
She's one of my favorite cards ever printed. She keeps future degenerate wild combos in check and provides some utility against aggro. She's also the reason I no longer instantly concede against quest mages. I believe she has her place in the meta and that she is worth running.
I’m hitting a wall at Diamond 1 3 stars. Kingsbane and Secret mage are probably the worst issues. I know these matchups are like Russian roulette but still...
I ended up replacing my Acidic Swamp Ooze with Gluttonous Ooze which helped against the Kingsbane matchup. Some people are running Kobold Stickyfinger but I haven't personally tried it. However, it could be a viable tech if you keep running into Kingsbane decks. Good luck with the legend climb, you'll be able to hit it with enough time.
Two days I play this deck and I find it reeeeally cool.
Thanks for sharing !
No problem, glad you're having fun!
Do you prefer dragons over no dragons? If so why?
Also what about Dragonqueen Alexstrasza?
Right now I do prefer dragons. However, I admit I haven't played many lists without them since the new expansion has been released so I can't say for sure that they are the most optimal build. It's possible a more hyper cycle and lower curve deck built around Lorekeeper Polkelt is stronger, but we haven't had enough time to really know. Regardless, dragons are very strong in the current meta game and are 100% viable. They allow you to be proactive on the board with stats while also providing value to your deck by allowing you to run strong synergistic cards like Cleric of Scales. Drakonid Operative in the mirror is potentially game winning, being able to pull Raza the Chained, Shadowreaper Anduin or Spawn of Shadows can completely scam a win. Against aggressive decks, playing Duskbreaker on curve is completely devastating. From personal experience climbing in the last few seasons, Duskbreaker is one of the big reasons I was able to have such a high win rate against discard warlock which was one of my most played match ups. Also being able to run Azure Drake alongside Bloodmage Thalnos is a nice compliment to Spirit Lash.
Dragonqueen Alexstrasza is too slow after its nerf and does not synergize well with Lorekeeper Polkelt as it can delay you from drawing your important cards.
Yeah I feel the same way... But thanks for your confirmation :)
Hi, thanks for sharing. May I ask why you didn't end up including Mind Blast (and Prophet Velen) ?
