DEATHRATTLE MUCKMORPHER TARGETS:
A worthy new death rattle package thanks to Plagued Protodrake alongside the familiar Scrapyard Colossus
RESUMMONED BY VECTUS:
Alongside Vector for deathrattle resummon value
CONTROLLED BY SPHERE OF SAPIENCE:
Now with the ability to keep big cards in your deck and high roll your combo pieces with Sphere of Sapience
OLD FAVORITE COMBOS:
With Kael'thas Sunstrider
For Consideration
Robes of Protection might be a great combo card with all the death rattle minions to make them stick, but with Vectus it's muddying the Muckmorpher pool. Keymaster Alabaster could be great too, but if you're behind board against aggro it's just a nail in the coffin.
This deck loses out very very hard in this iteration
I am not sure about mana tide totem. Feels bad man if morpher dont morph to a big thread. I put ancestral healing in for a value/tempo play cause it synergice well with Ancestral spirit or walking fountain !
Lady vajsh cause of vectus seems viable mentioned.
Is fountain needed while having a big new lifesteal spell ?
Both totally worth considering! I originally had -1 Walking Fountain +1 Tidal Wave for testing but I imagine Fountain will win out against aggro. Lady Vashj featured in a few Muckmorpher lists for sure although the effect isn't great aside from draw in this deck. Maybe in a Malygos burn variant it might be even more viable.
I wonder if there is any way to make a dragon package work here and still be decent with muckmorpher. You already have 2x ProtoDrake and are considering Maly. Perhaps +Ysera and 2x Evasive Wyrm to round it out to 6 dragons, all of which remain viable Muck targets and let you replace Lightning Storm with Breath. Might be too much effort just to try and run Breath but that card is so good it's worth a shot at least.
Also I don't think Kael'thas fits in this deck at all. What spell are you hoping to cheat? You literally only have 1 high impact play with Eye of the Storm and you would need to already be at 8/9 mana at least to try and pop off most of the time. Way too niche. Removing that from the muck pool and keeping the deck more consistent seems way better to me.
Certainly, you could definitely cut the Kael'thas Sunstrider package and add Malygos and even Wyrm's and Lightning Breath. You may even be able to go for more burn to push for Malygos finishers. Or maybe Muckmorpher could fit into a big/control spell shaman with the likes of Ras.
I think I meant as a separate point that you need to cut KT in either situation. Your deck needs to realistically spend at least 3 mana to trigger KT most of the time. If you pull it with muckmorpher on curve you have no way to trigger it and you've just played a 5 mana 4/4 that dies next turn. And then on top of that KT is pretty much only good with Eye of the Storm. I mean sure it's cool if you get a free tidal wave....but why? You've cleared your own board too. That would be no different as if you just cast the tidal wave from the start.
Your ideal play with any muckmorpher deck is on curve or even now turn 3 muck with lightning bloom. KT is a net negative impact on this deck.
All your points are valid and worthy of experimentation - but Kael'thas Sunstrider and Eye of the Storm used to be the win condition of the list back when it was viable so I'm just leaving them in for now. They're even easier to activate than before with Lightning Bloom (can be done turn 5 with two). Again, this is just a theorycraft to act as a starting point for testing, no way of knowing what works or not without play testing.
But that is not at all the case, your analogy of heads or tails is not correct in this case. You're assuming that on every single draw (with sphere equipped) there will be equal numbers of good cards than bad cards on your deck thus the decision of throwing your top deck or drawing it is a 50/50 but that's not the case if we are realistic. As I said there will always be more cards that you don't want to draw that cards you do in any set turn, you can even test it yourself, just choose any turn number at random and then see how many cards you would like to draw and how many would be bad, I can guarantee you that the latter will always be a bigger number.
I would rather run a card that's good on most games, if not all, like Colossus of the Moon which is pretty good off Muckmorpher and can be game winning against slower decks. Also consider running an extra Walking Fountain as that sort of board control and heal against aggro decks can be devastating if you hit it with Muckmorpher. It all comes down to the meta but both card seem way superior than running Sphere.
I can't wait for people to craft Sphere of Sapience day 1 and then realize it's just a bad card, nowhere as useful as most think and only maybe playable in some very specific decks. it's not even the fact that it's vulnerable to weapon destruction, that's not relevant, if that was the case no weapon ever would've been good and that's obviosly not at all true. The problem is that seeing your top deck and choosing to not draw it doesn't mean you'll draw a good card at all, you could even draw a worse card.
I even think that this card will even promote some bad plays from less experienced player, they'll always try to look for the perfect card they need on that turn and will end up throwing cards that they need in a turn or 2 trying to get a card that perfectly fits their curve.
I agree with this broadly, but I think in a combo deck like this one where you specifically don't want 6 of 30 cards in hand, (and would much rather have Vectus) it might give you some odds for a high-roll on the draw.
Like flipping heads or tails and calling heads as it lands on tails, you're next flip is still 50/50 to land heads - the odds are no greater - but if you had money riding on it you would certainly take the offer of another 1 in 2 chance at flipping to get the right call.
Will you eat a shoe or craft golden Gruul when every player at grandmasters brings at least one deck with a sphere in it? :D
If Vectus is in your deck by turn 5 while Muckmorpher is in your hand, do you just pray to god you don't hit him
Indeed, it's a bit of a highroll, and the deck needs testing - but hopefully Sphere of Sapience will help
i've been waiting for muckmorpher to shine since ages
it's time.
Very nice deck (+1 ofc) with great explosive combos and lifesteal in turn 8 (or cheat it before with mana cost reductions), but I think it will still have average negative winrates against aggro decks in the meta, such is tempo DH. I'd replace Sphere of Sapience × 1 with another lightning storm and one Eye of the Storm with another Serpentshrine Portal.
Yeah, probably a little bit of new card hype from me using Sphere of Sapience to be honest, but wanted to give it a run out incase it made it more efficient
