I reached legend this season using this priest deck, achieving a 65% win rate (62-32-1) and I thought others might enjoy it!
Here are the win rates by class: (note, those with low play rate may not be statistically significant and the win rate will vary by the matchup as well, this is just to give you a ballpark)
Demon hunter: 63% (5-3)
Druid: 67% (2-1)
Hunter: 75% (3-1)
Mage 78% (14-4)
Paladin 60% (6-4)
Priest 58% (7-5)
Rogue 80% (4-1)
Shaman 92% (11-1)
Warlock 54% (7-6-1)
Warrior 33% (3-6)
In wild without Dirty Rat and Skulking Geist ? No way
Skulking geist definitely isn't needed, saw all of 2 Jade druids and was able to defeat them both before they could do anything by just going face. Same strategy works against combo decks, build a board, pressure life total, zephrys for bloodlust/savage roar (and deathlord serves as a potential combo disruptor as well). Ultimately I didn't run into enough combo decks to justify giving rat the card slot, especially since I wasn't losing that frequently against those that I saw.
I have a similar deck that wins more than it loses. I avoid Plague of Death and Psychic Scream because I want my Deathrattle minions to trigger. Soul Mirror is overall better; it can even give you a bonus deathrattle minion if you're lucky. Reliquary of Souls and Mindflayer Kaahrj have both won me games. Like you, I've learned not to include Dragonqueen Alexstrasza. Often a staple of Reno decks; but it just doesn't fit here. Finally, Bad Luck Albatross can sometimes spoil an opposing Reno deck and slow down an aggro deck.
Hey man, tried this deck. Loving it. I cut Obsidian Statue out tho. I slotted in Bone Wraith in its place.
Glad you liked it. Had been thinking of cutting statue for something else myself. May give bone wraith a try.
You guys who are complaining about combo decks realize that the ultimate anti-combo tool of all time in Hearthstone was just printed, and printed for priests?
Instead of Benedictus, pop in a Mindrender Illucia, and mulligan for it above all else when you sense a combo match. If you draw it and you know how to use it, you win.
Can't overestimate the power of that card. Make the entire rest of the deck tilted toward the aggro matchup if you like, because it only takes one slot to deal with the Mecha'locks and whatever other OTK pleasantness comes your way.
Worst Reno deck I have ever tried, getting pummeled by combo AND aggro decks.
Not sure what to tell you. Played it all season and didn't have trouble with agro other than pirate warrior, and did fine against combo other than mechathun warlock. Maybe I just got very lucky all season or maybe you're not playing it right. Small decisions with this deck make a big difference on whether you win or lose. Typical strategy is keep the quest and hard mulligan for your 2 drops (you might occasionally keep other cards depending on the math but this is a typical mulligan), and then duplicate amara using seance or zola. In some matchups you may duplicate zephrys, kazakus, or even sylvanas instead but typically it's amara (or reno). Against some combo decks you are the aggressor and need to be mainly going face: duplicating kazakus for 8 damage potions or zephrys for damage/burst in these matches is important. If you wanted to improve it against agro I'd probably ditch statue, sylvannas and umbra for more early game taunt deathrattles and maybe another board clear or ooze or something.
looking at your collection it looks like you are missing a few of the cards, which might be making the deck worse. What substitutions are you using? That can make a big difference.
Let's be serious man:
HSReplay stats for your deck:
46%winrate:
Demonhunter: 44%
Druid 38%
Hunter: 61%
Mage: 47%
Paladin: 58%
Priest: 48%
Rogue: 26%
Shaman: 56%
Warlock: 42%
Warrior: 45%
My stats are from my own games also collected with HSTracker (and uploaded to HSReplay). Either I'm just high rolling or you're playing bad. What's your sample size/how many games did you play?
Some follow up: looking at the graph of win rate on HS replay the deck was over 50% win rate until early august when the win rate completely tanked. You can see a win rate of 60.6% on July 29th and 8.33% on August 5th. Someone either got unlucky or played really bad, dragging down the overall win rate of the deck on HS replay. You can the win rate was consistently over 50% all the way through July. The 65% win rate is my own personal win rate with the deck. Somewhere in early august someone went on a losing streak with the deck causing the winrate on HS replay to tank. You should also note HS replay has the warning that the deck has a low sample size on the site. Up until around then the deck was doing just fine win rate wise. Ultimately there's a new expansion out today so it really doesn't matter as all of this data becomes irrelevant in the face of new cards and a new meta.
I worshiped this deck back when the Un'Goro quests were in standard.
I seem to recall that a fairly frequently seen piece of tech was a single copy of Archbishop Benidictus in order to shut down the opponent's chances in fatigue.
If one was inclined to add a Benidictus, I'd probably do it in lieu of the Obsidian Statue. I realize Statue is a beast, but room needs to be made and I can't justify a 9 mana deathrattle. Another candidate to come out of this deck is Deathlord, if the meta ever slows down to the point where pulling massive minions from your opponent's deck becomes a real danger.
Yeah, I had benedictus in an earlier version but there weren't enough control matchups and it messed up the no duplicate cards. Statue is definitely one of the first cards I would cut from the list as well, though probably for another early game deathrattle minion/taunt or board clear.
1/3 of the deck is orange wtf
Now that you mention it there are a lot of legendaries in this deck, lol. You could probably replace thalnos, zola, umbra and sylvannas if needed but it would make the deck a bit worse but still playable.
Many/most decks in Wild are like that, especially control decks.
why no gallery? its slow?
gallery doesn't really fit in with the deck, there's a lot of bad targets which would be jut 1/1's (raza, zephrys, zola, kazakus, etc), and the deathrattle cards aren't necessarily ones that would make a high impact with gallery. Ultimately other cards are just better in the deck.
