Thank you so much everyone for getting me to the top spot on the front page! As promised I will write an extesive guide.
Hello everyone, Hellsfirst here with another meta breaking deck.
My favorite class has always been Warlock because it just dominates the board when played properly. I have over 1350 Ranked wins with Warlock and I decided to try a new take on an old style deck. I have been making Cubelocks since the beginning of the Carnivorous Cube card release. They have always been a strong competitor in the meta no matter what season. It dawned on me that all of them rely mostly on the Carnivorous Cube to pull out fast charge Doomguard or any of warlocks famous demon taunts to overwelm the opponent into submission. What if you simplified the Demon pool to only 5 total demons and put some of the more fun duplication methods that have surfaced in the last few expansions to work. This is exactly what I have made right here and its taken me from D5-D2 and 2 stars with a 75% win rate. I am positive as being a multiple legend player that this deck will take me to legend rank this season.
Cards and Their Purpose
Dark Pact - Very simple card to understand. It can be used to proc any of your death rattles and to heal you for 4 life when in a tough situation.
Kobold Librarian - A staple card in any warlock deck. Most decks run 2 of these but I found it too clunky when you have it in the middle of the game when you are looking for a tech card or a demon.
Plague of Flames - Another staple card for pretty much any warlock deck. This became popular with the Darkest Hour Warlocks before the Blood bloom nerf. It can be used to proc any of the death rattles as well as to quickly clear a big board. Its uses speak for itself. I run 2 of these in the deck because they are a must in the current meta with the quick filling boards.
Defile - I run 2 of these as well for all the Pirate Warriors and Demon Hunters that fill the board super quick turn 1 or 2. If you can clear that first board on turn 2 you usually can survive long enough to start filling the board with Enhanced Dreadlords.
Expired Merchant - This is used simply to copy Bloodreaver Gul'dan because 2 of him can win a game easy. You can also use Faceless Manipulator to copy this and then you get 4 Bloodreaver Gul'dans. You can also get 4 by playing Spiritsinger Umbra before playing this. Don't be afraid to use it on Mal'Ganis against aggro so you can double him up to stay alive until Bloodreaver Gul'dan and then watch them quit. Always try to kill this on the turn you put it down. A silence can ruin your whole game plan.
Kanrethad Ebonlocke - A great addition with this expansion. Getting 1 or more Kanrethad Prime is a nice way to fill your death pool with more powerful minions because this is usually played before Bloodreaver Gul'dan. Sometimes it becomes your last ditch effort against control decks and you still win the game.
Dark Skies - I run 2 of these for early board clear or to set up for a Defile later in the game. Great tool to win against aggro.
Ratcatcher - This card is never seen in a deck and no one sees it coming. When you combine this with any of the death rattles you need to proc you get a big rush minion that can take care of most things on the board early game and even some in late game. Demon Hunters always have a 2 life minion on the board so don't be afraid to play this to just clear one of those if you have no other play. It is still a 2/2 with rush even if it doesn't eat anything.
Sense Demons - You have a total of 5 demons in this deck so this helps pull all of them. Even if you draw the 1 cost 1/1 demon once you have no more demons in your deck you can use it as bait for Ratcatcher for a quick 3/3 with rush.
Voidcaller - Another staple in any Warlock deck. You use this to pull any demon from your hand to the board. Using this turn 8 with Spiritsinger Umbra and pulling a Enhanced Dreadlord creates a massive board. A 3/4 demon, 5/7 Demon with taunt, 5/5 with life steal and Spiritsinger Umbra which acts as a pseudo taunt herself.
Skull of the Man'ari - Play this as soon as you can without risking getting hit in the face. This pulls a random demon from the hand to the board and if Spiritsinger Umbra is on the board it can sometimes create massive boards on its on.
Ectomancy - Why no one uses this card is beyond me. It is like a Faceless Manipulator on crack. Copy all demons on the board?! Just broken as F**k! You can get 7 Mal'Ganis on the board at one time with this beauty. Have you ever seen that with the traditional cube lock? The answer is no lol. I love using this card whenever I have the chance to. Even if you use it as a Faceless Manipulator for 1 demon its still worth it. This is the card that got my juices flowing to build this deck.
Keli'dan the Breaker - Another great addition to the Warlock set this expansion. Take care of any big taunt or another Warlocks Mal'Ganis to set up victory. Also if you draw it when in a pinch it acts as a 6 cost board clear that leaves a 3/3 minion on the board for you. I love situations where I think I'm F****d and then this gets top decked. Feels so satisfying to know they are throwing a temper tantrum because you ruined their plans.
Lord Godfrey - A 2 damage Defile that murders giant boards when used properly. This guy is truly a lord because he will completely destroy an aggro and control decks board. Got death rattles? Got reborns? No problem Godfrey has that covered too.
Enhanced Dreadlord - This is the bad**s of this deck. You want as many of these as possible in your death pool. The fact that it spawns a 5/5 with life steal is hell for your opponent. A 5/7 with taunt is also hard to deal with mid and late game for everyone. You may be able to clear a few of them but in this deck they just keep coming back. I usually try to have 4-5 of these dead by the time I play N'Zoth, the Corruptor. I will talk about him later.
Mal'Ganis - This is the king of the deck and if you can get more than 1 of these on the board at a time its usually game over. If you can get 3-4 of these in your death pool before Bloodreaver Gul'dan you usually win.
Bloodreaver Gul'dan - Get as many copies of this guy in your hand as possible. If you have more than 2 its almost a guaranteed win. Especially if you have multiple Mal'Ganis and Enhanced Dreadlord in your death pool. They usually quit if you play a 2nd one but on a 3rd or 4th they definitely can't take care of that much pressure anymore and not quitting is just a waste of their time. Let that priest put them all back in your deck if he wants. You love having more demons no matter what lol.
Mistress of Mixtures - I only run 1 of these because its a great turn 1 card and it can help survive long enough for the big boys to come out to play. Also great bait for Ratcatcher for a quick 4/4 with rush and a heal for 4. I find running 2 of these puts too many in your death pool and you don't want these resummoned and taking up board space later.
Teron Gorefiend - I love the idea behind this card and I am so glad they added him this expansion because his possibilities are endless. Only play this guy if you can kill him. Leaving him alive after destroying your big board is just a massive target for silence. He is great early game to add Mal'Ganis or Enhanced Dreadlord to your death pool for later. Playing him and a Faceless Manipulator and then a [card]Plague of Flames[card] will give you a huge board that's all buffed +1/+1 from their original stats.
Spiritsinger Umbra - No one is ever happy to see this B**ch on the board. It is a pseudo taunt from day 1 and everyone try's to kill her as fast as possible. If you have no play turn 4 just drop this and watch all the attack go straight for her. She also wins games if they cannot kill her and you drop any of your overpowered Warlock death rattle cards. You can have that massive board I talked about earlier on turn 5 or turn 4 if you coined her out turn 3. No one can handle that board that early.
Carnivorous Cube - The staple of the Cubelock that is used in every single one of the decks. Most people run 2 of the but to be honest 1 is plenty. Usually the 2nd one becomes a dead card because you already have your board full of big a** minions. This deck runs so well that sometimes I contemplate replacing the cube but its just so handy sometimes that its still a requirement.
Faceless Manipulator - Just a great card to have for all situations. Copy the opponents giant minion or copy your own. Remember that if you copy something with death rattle and Spiritsinger Umbra is on the board the death rattle will trigger which makes for some huge plays.
N'Zoth, the Corruptor - This guy is used simply to add more [/card]Enhanced Dreadlord[/card]s to the death pool for Bloodreaver Gul'dan or Kanrethad Prime. It is helpful to stop some face damage against pretty much anyone and its a great way to get a board clear out of their hand. Usually you will get a second Kanrethad Ebonlocke spawning here which gives you another Kanrethad Prime. This is not the game winning card its simply a stall tactic. Try your hardest not to duplicate this card with Expired Merchant because the board is just too simple to take care of and it doesn't give you armor or a bad**s life steal hero power.
Mulligans
Aggro - always keep Defile, Dark Skies, Kobold Librarian and Mistress of Mixtures
Control - always keep Voidcaller, Sense Demons, Kobold Librarian and Kanrethad Ebonlocke
Play Guide
This deck is easy yet complicated to pilot correctly. You always have to plan out your next 2 turns as if everything is going to go your way. Don't worry if things start seeming to change your plans because their is enough board clear with Defile and Dark Skies to get to your plans eventually. You want a board full of either Enhanced Dreadlord or Mal'Ganis early game so your opponent literally S**ts himself. Use Spiritsinger Umbra as a taunt and as a way to create huge board opportunities in late game. You have some much duplication possibilities with Ectomancy, Carnivorous Cube, {card]Teron Gorefiend[/card], Faceless Manipulator, Kanrethad Prime, N'Zoth, the Corruptor, and Bloodreaver Gul'dan that it is nearly impossible for any deck to possibly clear them all. With the 5/5 life steal demons that spawn from the Enhanced Dreadlord you constantly heal yourself after they spend everything they have clearing your board just to leave those alive. Because you only have 5 demons total you always gets a great Bloodreaver Gul'dan and Kanrethad Prime with minions your are happy to see and not those s***ty 1/3s from the Voidlords that always use to piss me off when that's what my board consisted of in the old Cubelocks. Even the new Cubelock decks use them because the stall the game for another turn. I personally think instead of stalling you need to apply as much pressure as possible in the current meta to force decks to take care of your board instead of allowing them to plan their combo around your weak minions.
The basis of this deck is simple. Make a lot of big s**t and continue to duplicate said big s**t until your opponent has no choice but to allow you to smash his face into oblivion.
Your only bad matchup is against the pure OTK decks like Uther Paladins and Mecathun Warlocks. You have to do as much face damage as possible to these decks before they get to the OTK or you are done for. Everything else seems easy to beat unless they get lucky on the draw.
I will post some pictures soon of some of the boards I have created before turn 10 that are just too much to handle for all decks but for now my hands are tired from writing this guide.
Thanks again for stopping to consider this deck and I hope you have as much fun climbing with it as I have. Follow me for more fun deck ideas that work in the current meta.
I didn't skim through the strategy without understanding it completely. But it's pretty straight-forward.
SUMMON THE DEMONS!!!
THEN SUMMON MOAR DEMONS!!!
THEN WIN!!!
Could someone give me a brief idea why not included Voidlord?
Voidlord has the problem with Guldan. The 3 1/3s with Taunt get summoned with him and those are not what you want to win the game. You want Lifesteal 5/5s and 5/7 Enhanced Dreadlords with taunt and Malganis to win.
Any replacements for Teron and Umbra?
They make the game more fun with crazy combos but if you do not have them you can add Dark Pact and another Faceless Manipulator. The goal is to make that Guldan huge.
How useful did you find Godfrey in this deck? I played about 60-70 matches and didn’t play him once. Any recommendations on a good replacement?
this deck is very fun but it’s heavily reliant on good draw. Also it almost doesn’t stand a chance against Demon Hunters, Reno Raza Priest and Reno Mage that just polymorphs every big demon you play with zephyrs and kazakus and malygos aspect of magic and spells.
I’m also wondering if kanrethad ebonlocke can be replaced because it happens to me more often than not that my weapon pulls the prime version and I don’t get any of his value.
just my thoughts so far. Thanks for detailed guide 👍
Both could be replaced if you like but be careful not to add more demons to the pool. The point of so little is so you know what your gonna get later with guldan. What did you have in mind to replace them with?
I was thinking either a second Ectomancy but I don't know if it would be too slow.
Was also thinking of maybe adding a Siegebreaker instead of Lord Godfrey. He's not too bad, almost like a mini Mal'Ganis. I wouldn't be too upset to see him pop up in the resurrect pool.
What do you think?
I actually like the idea of Siegebreaker. Godfrey has saved me in a few games tho so it’s a hard choice to make. Let me know how it goes for you.
This deck is pretty good, Ectomancy got me 5 Mal'Ganis on turn 9
Yeah I’ve got 7 with it before. Just an amazing turn that most decks will struggle against. Thank you for the kind words on the deck. It stalled at Diamond 2 for me but I’m working on a reborn paladin that hopefully will be a change of pace.
Finally Ratcatcher is getting some love. Great deck!
Thanks for the deck. The ratcatcher and ectomancy are very good.
Espacially the rat guy

So this deck looks really promising. I played it five times now. 0-5.
My last game was against a highlander cube lock. He had answers to everything and outplayed me completely with gnomeferatus, silencers, burning my kanrethad, brann+zephrys as a double board clear etc and even though I had twice as many blood guldans than him.
That makes me wonder, am I just bad or is the highlander version simply better than this? Cause I remember when I tried highlander cube lock I always lost so fcking hard it made me think that version is shit... But now I doubt my skills because I think I played this deck to the best of my ability yet still failed...
It takes a bit to get used to what the right cards are to play and when. I have not lost against another Cubelock yet. I usually out value them the entire game. I would say play 15-20 games with the deck to learn it inside and out. Once you have the concept completely down in your head it becomes an easier deck to pilot. When I make decks I usually try and make them so there is never a card I am not happy to see. Obviously getting N'zoth in hand early sucks because you do not want to duplicate him but other than that I am usually happy with what I draw every turn. You may have also just had a bad luck streak. No matter how good the deck and how good the pilot its still a 50/50 on card draw. Flip a coin 20 times and you will see that bad luck streaks just happen. I am currently stuck at rank 2 with this deck and I just bounce between 2-3 stars in it. Cubelocks are a guaranteed win for me though as are Reno Priests. They are just too slow and this deck can have some huge boards by turn 6-7 if no one puts the pressure on you. Give it some more time and see if it starts working for you.
OK thanks for the reply. I guess it really does take time. I hope to see you get legend at least
Great deck! I didn't have a few cards , such as Kanrethad, Godfrey or Ratcatcher, Kel'idan or the Skull of.
However, I find that even if you replace those with slightly cheaper, slightly similar cards, this is still a winning deck. I had a fantastic time playing against Thief Rogue with it. Made sh*t difficult as hell, but damn, enjoyable! Looking forward to your other decks! :)
Thank you for the compliments on the deck! I wish you had all those cards so you could see the true power but it’s nice to know you can replace them and still smash face! Thanks again and let me know what cards you replaced them with please.
I actually crafted Ratcatcher meanwhile. I am holding some mana for the rest and Skull of, although pretty played, I find kinda boring to use. I replaced Kanrethad with Voidlord (not the same, but meh), Godfrey with Demonwrath and Keli' with Blastcrystal Potion. I am still trying different replacements, but yes, you're right. Godfrey is on my list, since it's slaying in any Warlock deck and The Warlock Prime as well (being my favorite class, I find myself being rather the collector, lol).
If you have other replacement ideas, let me know and sorry for not taking time to link the cards I mentioned (still new at commenting on decks, lol)
PS: couldn't agree with you more on Ectomancy. Although expensive, I find it thoroughly underrated in Warlock decks.
Thanks again!
