Since I'm in the final development of my own game I had some time spare and made this deck. I have had zero counters and climbed to legend with ease.
If people are interested I can write up some strategies as it requires a bit more skill then most decks since you need to play around your own combo's of which the deck is filled with.
Just picking it up won't be easy due to specific play required vs aggro compared to slower decks. The deck crushes all types of play, if I had more time I would go top 10 if not rank 1.
Proof: I connected my battle.net id to this account so it's Athene posting it. If anything else is required you can pm me.
Cheers,
Athene
Salut l'ami, penses-tu que le deck est toujours ok dans la méta actuelle ?
I made a Video on how about to play this kind of Deck.
In german tho. I hope i can help someone with that.

i really like zzeraku, I've tried to fit him into my personal questlock list(which is nothing like the ones everyone else uses) as well as maly versions, i was hoping maly would be a bit easier to use him, but still i find it hard to get much value from him. I'm probably being too greedy I guess, but I hate to waste rain of fire when i don't need to lol. And almost never get to play him before i complete quest. Any advice on the matter would be great, because he looks so fun lol. But so far, regaurdless of the variance in decks, he seems to be nothing more than another 4/12 body with dragon tribe for nethers
Best case you Frizz early and twist/draw into Zzeraku, I've had a few concedes once I hero power on the following turn. If you Frizz early you may also end up with some cheap Netherwings that can activate the 6/6. If I get him on the board I've found him most effective against Hunter builds, they can't keep up after their strong opening, plus it keeps them from hero powering unless they have lethal.
That being said, Zzeraku is not a must in this deck, speaking from my experience I win 99% of games with some form of Malygos/spell combo. The more I think about it the more I feel he is replaceable, definitely a fun card when it hits though.
I love this deck list, but I'm still gonna stick to my deck https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1349172-malylock-72-wr-from-d5-to-legend
I'm 12 - 0 freaking 100 % winrate to D5 with it, even tho some of the games was so rigged. I can send you really tough games, which I still won, this deck is really unbeatable in the right hands. Look at this lol.
The game tried really hard to fk me up with draws or mutchup.
12-0 is insane bro XD
How do you consistently beat DH and Hunter?? I feel like I'm about 50/50 in those matchups. Even worse when I play a bomb warrior, those bombs fuck all the highlander cards and my upgraded hero power, tome into a 0 cost bomb. I may try your variant and see how that fairs, looks solid.
gratz on the streak, you'll be legend in no time
Honestly, I have no idea. xD I'm pretty sure I don't play it perfectly but good enough, I guess.
Here are my last games against Hunters and Demon Hunters. You can watch them slowly, think about what you would do in some situations and compare with my play, maybe it helps and you can decide is it was just luck or something else.
I definitely made some mistakes accidentally. I'm not a try-hard player. Personally I think it's just because this deck is so good, but many players still ignore it and don't even think it's a Tier 1 deck, which is beyond me. Good for me tho.

Thanks for this, you definitely don't shy away from using your soulfires early. I have a bad habit of hanging onto them for the late game, I suppose they aren't as important against DH/H matchups where board clear takes priority. I even seen you throw down that Zephyrus without his effect, I would almost never, but can't say that was a bad play considering how quickly you have to deal with aggro threats.
I'll keep trying, see if I can't get my own streak going and finally make it to legend, cheers mate
Thank you too. In replay you can't really see that but I've been thinking about this for a pretty long time. Like yay or nah, then I came up with a thought that if I make it to the late game when the effect will be active I will win anyways even without Zephrys, that's what I was thinking. But I'm still not sure about Zephrys play either, because later his effect actually would helped me.
Here's my latest game vs DH. I think we both got our best cards in hands but this deck is just too strong, I keep saying that it's annoying but it's true lol.

upd
And a match vs warrior (D5 - 3 stars) Dude, 15 and 0 wtf ahahaha

Here a game vs druid but it was meh pretty easy. I mean noone can stop this deck lol again

Brooo that DH matchup was insane, he had it all and still couldn't come up with the win xD I feel the ooze definitely is a must in the meta and something this deck sorely misses. I can burn away minions but can be tough to outrace DH/Warrior/Hunter when they still have their weapons and hero powers. That druid dropped 2 Malygos and still couldn't handle you lol
Zephrys is awesome, I think you got the right idea, I should be more open to the idea of dropping him early in an aggro matchup if needed, same with soulfire.
What am I doing wrong? Quest WL is slow for me at least against aggro (Warrior or whatever) its so slow and when the Broodmothers don't come when needed you re in deep trouble. And I mean by turn 5 or so with no chance of taping and max a hellfire or Netherwing that both put you into lethal next turn..or the turn after because on average it takes time to have the combo ready (Mo'arg+Netherbreath)
I'm not an expert on this deck by any means, but I imagine you would mulligan hard for removal against aggro. If by turn 5 you haven't received any decent removal to help (mortal coils, hellfires, dark skies, sky general, even rain of fire), then it's just RNG of not getting the cards you need.
Sense demons also helps a lot in thinning your deck and finding your removals. In some unavoidable cases I've had to use soulfires to remove a single big minion and whilst that hurt, it is not game-losing. There are still enough spells incl. rain of fire that with a Malygos or alexstraza can win you the game.
I had problems with a particular Warrior, like egg warrior or when they use Bombwrangler so you cant use a reg. boardclear cause it leaves them with too many bombs or armour. plus they draw nicely into copy into rampage while I draw my Broodmother too early and didnt get Netherbreath and also had to use my Soulfires :( just happen 3 times in a row, against other classes I had no problem
If there is a counter to this deck it's bomb warrior, everything they do is an obstacle for this deck. It's probably the only deck type I have a losing % against. Only advice I can give is to manage your health points wisely as a tap could cost you 7 HP instead of the 2 HP. I like having a sense demon in my hand to draw out the broodmothers and artificers for combo spell dmg/heal. You almost need to be perfect and have some luck on your side to beat them.
Thanks for the post, I've been enjoying working out how to play this deck today.
May I ask what your plan is vs Spell Druids? The AoE's we have are decent damage for early big boards but gets more difficult as they make their exotic mountain seller turns.
I managed to beat my last Spell Druid by barely holding on until I managed to burst him down with Alexstraza and a 0 cost Malygos. Is this generally the plan?
Malegos is the kill combo in almost all longer games. Spell druids are a bit easier since you have so much board removal, and if you hold on to the double to minion damage minion, you can do huge clears as well.
Hey guys,
I tried out this deck and made a showcase of it! I am not that experienced with quest warlock but I have played a bunch of it. I had very nice game against libram paladin which did a lot of healing through the game but I managed to OTK him from 30 heatlh! I was not sure about Hellfire in the deck but it adds a solid bonus burst damage. I did not have Zzeraku the Warped so I replaced it with Valdris Felgorge to test it out because that card seems pretty good in the deck in theory. Timestamps are in the video if you just want to check out particular matchup :)
I hope you can enjoy the video
Nice vid, Valdris Felgorge is an interesting addition. I run the deck as is and it works well, but having the extra draw power and handsize definitely compliments this deck well.
I have definitely lost some matches by not counting the dmg or casting AoE burn in the wrong order. Nice seeing you beat up on some paladins, all their buffs can be really problematic. Thanks again!
Most of the time It's really hard to find a turn to spend 7 mana on draw tho.
Agree, might even be detrimental as you are likely wasting of the hero power discount in the late game, better options out there
