Mulligan for Imprisoned Scrap Imp
Have a Scrap Imp?  Look for another one!

I considered filing the last one under Handlock, because that's what it really is.  This time it's unavoidable - this is Handlock.

Most were familiar with and looking for the Galakrond or Zoo archetypes.  I get that!  But...
Everything felt disjointed, right?

So BoarControl shed light on the viability of Control lists like this.
It works, but ran SacPact and generally felt like it needed experimentation.

So I tried bringing it all together.

That is the BoarControl Lackey Galakrond setup that we see works well, but we just take the Imprisoned Scrap Imp and jam him in.  I bet you didn't even realize until right now that we'd cut those stupid Sacrificial Pacts for it.

I can't say if it'll take off, but I'm telling you the answer for us right now is jamming Scrap Imp into a setup like this, not just Zoo
It's weird and it works and you'll love it if you pilot it well.  Give it enough games, know your opponents' decks well, etc.

Enter the Dragon

Faerie Dragon just works well on paper, right?  It's not the worst 2-drop if you whiffed on Scrap Imps and happened to run into an Aggro matchup you have to answer.  If you found your Imp, it's gross.

Nether Breath was already in this deck, and for good reason.  It's busted af, and now you're just an embarrassment of riches with these dragons in hand.  You'll close out plenty of games with this, and I'll explain why no, you can't have Malygos too.

Dragonblight Cultist isn't a dragon.

Frizz Kindleroost is the most obvious target for substitution here.  All I can tell you is that, in practice, he has had what feels like a considerable impact on my games.  I have to really read into it more.

Twilight Drake is possibly the card that this all hinges on.  Similar to Faerie Dragon, this card is fine on its own.  We'd really like to drop those 6/3 versions though :)

Crazed Netherwing was also part of our prior setups, and just as with Nether Breath works even harder (or easier?) now.  You'll almost always be able to trigger his effect, and dropping them as 7/7's is a hoot.  Without Scrap Imp's buffing, the AoE could sometimes be disruptive - no more!

Kronx Dragonhoof is also not a dragon...

Evasive Drakonid at first I was unsure about.  It's a tad expensive in this deck if you don't hit your Frizz first, but honestly it has performed very very well for me.  Until it doesn't, I think it stays.  Still, I could see how it may just be a feel-good win-more card.

Alexstrasza is the last of the returning cast, and there's not much to say here.  I guess just a reminder to not be afraid to Alex your own face, but try to plan it out.  It's more complicated than the "Alex their face when I have 15 dmg ready" plan you're otherwise after.

Honestly, there is so much experimentation that I think deserves to be done with this approach.  I encourage everyone to do so if they're up for it, and discuss.

Enjoy, be well.
